I visited Shihoku for the first time for work, and it was in the middle of winter. Even during the day, it was freezing at minus 10 degrees, so I went out in search of lunch. I happened to come across a cafe behind the city hall, with its brick exterior, carved signboard, and when I opened the door, there were velvet sofas in an engine red color, and tables with carved designs. I don't want to call it retro, but it was a traditional cafe for sure. The radio inside was playing a lazy afternoon AM broadcast. By the way, the radio was a Sony Celebrity, a well-known model. They brought me a glass of amber-colored water, and of course, they had Napolitan on the menu, so I ordered without hesitation. They also brought Tabasco and powdered cheese. The noodles were chewy, with large pieces of green peppers, onions, and sausages. The flavor and presentation were spot on. The portion size was just right. I thought it would be perfect to enjoy a smoke with a peace or highlight after the meal, but unfortunately, it was a non-smoking establishment. Perhaps that's the sign of the times. I would like to visit this place again (I visited three times during my business trip).
