I visited this place for the first time. The owner mentioned that due to the pandemic, it has been difficult to get ingredients. I ordered the curry with pork cutlet. It was a very generous portion. The spiciness was average. It was like a curry you would have at home. They say curry is a drink, but with so much pork cutlet, I couldn't drink it all! I had to eat slowly towards the end. Finally, I managed to finish it. My stomach was so full. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a retro cafe for the first time. The menu had various items listed, but the lady behind the counter said they only serve either pork cutlet curry or jajimi ramen, as they are known as a specialty shop (laughs). Without having to choose, I ordered the pork cutlet curry. The lady went into the kitchen and after about 10 minutes, it was ready. It was served on a large oval plate with rice, cabbage, and an orange, topped with a big pork cutlet. The homemade curry was generously poured over it, making it look very hearty. I dug in and enjoyed the sweet and mild curry that was simmered to perfection, with a gentle and flavorful taste. The pork cutlet was so tender, it almost felt like chicken cutlet. I usually watch my rice intake for dieting, but today I couldn't resist this hearty and satisfying pork cutlet curry. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Title: Handmade Delicious Spot Introduction Menu: Pork Cutlet Curry Price: 900 yen - It may seem a bit expensive, but the thick cutlet portion is satisfying! Rice: It seems like there is more than the usual serving at a regular meal restaurant. Curry: Inside the pork cutlet curry, there are additional pork belly pieces scattered around. The curry is on the sweeter side. Impression: The clam ramen seems to be delicious, but most customers order the pork cutlet curry. I will definitely go back. Yummy!

The other day, I visited this restaurant. I wanted to try the specialty clams from Teshio Town, and I heard that this place is a long-established shop. The ramen soup has a strong clam broth flavor. The noodles are thick, and I think it would be better if they were thin curly noodles for better balance. The owner of the shop was also quite charming, and I had a very pleasant time there.

As always, here is a review of a restaurant in Ten'ensho Town, but it feels like I've almost exhausted all the lunch options there (lol). Unless I stay overnight next time, I probably won't be able to review a new restaurant... So, I visited "Agein" again. I've mentioned this before, but it's a business that mainly caters to locals, so the menu is not very helpful (lol). This time, I thought about having fried rice, but they said, "We can't make fried rice today~" (lol) So, I ended up ordering curry, but it's strange that they had rice but couldn't make fried rice, right? (lol) It took about 10 minutes for the curry to be served, and it looked like a normal curry. The taste was also just average, with a slightly strong sweetness. It's almost like the curry you make at home using store-bought curry roux... So, it's truly a home-cooked curry. It's really difficult to comment on this, but if I were to seriously evaluate the taste, I wouldn't be able to give it a high score. However, these kinds of restaurants have a presence and significance that go beyond taste evaluations, and you just have to accept that. But seeing the waitress who brought the food sitting at another table and eating after serving the food, it felt a bit strange... Maybe my perspective would change if I settled in Ten'ensho. By the way, as a side note, this restaurant offers some kind of service after the meal. Last time, it was canned tea, and this time, for some reason, we received seaweed rolls (lol). In that sense, is the service a high score? (lol) For those who enjoy this kind of relationship, this restaurant would be irresistible. Thank you for the meal.

I've recently found myself in this area due to certain circumstances, and I expect to be visiting quite often in the near future. I decided to check out a local restaurant, and the first one I stumbled upon is right in front of the old Tenjio Station. The town itself is small, so it should be easy to find. The exterior of the restaurant has an old-fashioned coffee shop vibe, with a vintage railway station sign next to the entrance. Inside, it's a mix between a snack bar and a coffee shop, giving off a vibe that can only exist in a small town like this. I took a seat at the back of the counter, where an older lady who seemed to be the owner was sitting. She didn't stand up or greet us when we entered, which seems to be the usual style of this place for unknown customers. Looking around the restaurant, I noticed wooden bear carvings, Ainu dolls, stuffed animals, and souvenirs that looked like they were from a foreign country scattered around. A slightly younger lady brought us water and casually showed us a magazine called "HO," pointing out their recommended dish that was featured in it - the hearty pork cutlet curry. My son ordered the pork cutlet curry, while I went for the signature dish of the town, the clam ramen. The food arrived in about 10 minutes, and the pork cutlet curry was massive, with a large cutlet on top. My son found the taste to be ordinary, like leftover curry at home. The clam ramen, on the other hand, was filled with clams, and the broth was light yet flavorful, with a hint of sweetness from the clams. The noodles were thin and slightly curly, reminiscent of noodles from a local noodle factory. The clam flavor was prominent, making the ramen satisfying on its own. Overall, the clam ramen was unique and delicious, relying heavily on the flavor of the clams. However, at 1,000 yen, the price seemed a bit steep compared to the 900 yen pork cutlet curry. Personally, growing up in a town where clams were abundant, I couldn't help but think the price was a bit high.

There was an incident where a usual shop in Toyotomi-cho was still open past its opening hours but couldn't let us in, so we had to urgently look for a restaurant open for dinner and ended up driving back 50km to Enbetsu-cho... (><) I don't like it, this is what happens in the remote areas of Hokkaido... (Tears) On the way, when passing through Teshio-cho, I remembered there was a shop around here... so I made a U-turn and found one place! Thank goodness!! The shop is located right behind "Michi-no-Eki Teshio". Upon entering, the atmosphere inside the shop was like a snack bar or even a bar. There was a nostalgic Showa era vibe in the music playing... I had seen in the tourist pamphlet of the Michi-no-Eki about the B-grade gourmet of Teshio, the "Teshio Taco Kimchi Don," but when I mentioned it, the owner said, "We're not serving that now. We have clam ramen or pork cutlet curry..." with a frown on their face. Uh-oh, it seems like they have a fixed menu... (^^; Feeling a bit anxious, I ordered the hamburger curry. While waiting, the person from the previous shop came out and said, "Have this coffee too!" as a service. Oh, it seems like they don't mind, and I finally breathed a sigh of relief. Yes, people are not judged by their appearance, right? (laughs) When the hamburger curry was served, it was a huge portion!! I couldn't help but exclaim, "Huh!" at the sight of it. Was this place known for large servings? (^^; The curry didn't have much spiciness. It was a nostalgic roux curry that even children could eat, like the one your grandmother would make. On the side, there was a mountain of fukujinzuke as well. This curry, the fukujinzuke goes so well with it, delicious♪ I love fukujinzuke♡ The hamburger was about 2cm thick and had a decent meaty texture. And it's huge! It's quite satisfying to eat~ By the time I finished eating, an elderly lady came out of the shop. I thought she was a staff member, but she turned out to be the wife of the owner. She started talking about the old days, and when I listened attentively, she asked, "Do you want to eat some melon?" and offered melon as a service♪ Oh, I'm already full... (laughs) She talked about how in the past, they tried to promote Teshio-cho with the Tako Kimchi Don, but it didn't work out, and now no one makes it anymore. She also mentioned that due to the decline in octopus catch, the use of clams in ramen has become popular as a local specialty. I enjoyed various conversations with her. By the time an hour passed, we were talking about wartime and post-war topics... It was a very interesting conversation about the lifestyle back then that you wouldn't see on TV. I enjoyed the pleasant chat and delicious food☆ (By the way, the service is not included in the star rating) There is "Teshio Hot Springs Yuubae" just a 5-minute drive from the shop, so we bathed there tonight and stayed overnight in the car at this Michi-no-Eki. Next time, I would like to stop by again to try the owner's recommended "clam ramen." This meal is quite generous in portion size, so it's recommended for the men on a drive as well!

Today I started working in the Teshio and Haboro area. The soba restaurant I had planned to visit in Kotanbetsu was unexpectedly closed for the day, but luckily there were some wonderful locals who pointed me in the right direction! I arrived for lunch in the afternoon and it seemed like the restaurant was being filmed for TV... I recommend trying their clam ramen. It really helped me feel revitalized after my liver had been working overtime (not that I'm really reflecting on that!). They even gave me a small serving of rice as a bonus. I'm diving headfirst into the "philosophical pig" dish!

Hokkaido Orolon Kaido, a local gourmet dish in Teshio Town called "Tako Kimchi Don" is available at a restaurant called "Agein" near the Teshio Road Station (Route 232). The atmosphere of the restaurant is reminiscent of a bustling café that used to cater to railway users when the now defunct JR Haboro Line station was still around. The décor is a bit cluttered with unnecessary items scattered around the counter and kitchen. There was a group of three customers waiting for their meals when I arrived. After a 30-minute wait, my order of "Tako Kimchi Don for 950 yen" finally arrived. The dish consists of octopus pieces mixed with minced salmon and octopus encircled by a layer of kimchi. The minced octopus is made from locally caught Mizudako (octopus) marinated in soy sauce. The combination of octopus, kimchi, and marinated octopus creates a unique and surprisingly harmonious flavor. The tonkatsu (pork cutlet) in the dish was not freshly fried, and the overall texture was a bit soggy. The kimchi provided a balanced level of sourness without being overpowering. Additionally, the meal included miso soup with clams, allowing diners to enjoy the process of extracting clam meat from the shells. Overall, the dining experience was enjoyable, despite the initial wait and minor shortcomings in the dish. The restaurant offers a total of seven variations of Tako Kimchi Don, making it a place worth revisiting for a taste comparison. As I was about to leave, the waitress brought me a complimentary iced coffee, insisting that I use the straw for a more stylish look. The restaurant's mascot, "Kimtako," adds a quirky touch to the dining experience.

I entered the restaurant because I wanted to eat Tako Kimchi Don, which caught my eye on the signboard at the station. The restaurant had a distinctive signboard and had a vibe of an old, worn-out train station. To be honest, it wasn't very clean. There were a lot of local customers, many of whom seemed like regulars as they were smoking cigarettes together, which was tough for me as I don't like smoke. Moreover, it took 50 minutes for my order to arrive, which made me feel like the service was lacking in awareness. However, the Tako Kimchi Don itself was delicious, with the crispy texture of the fried octopus and a generous portion. The kimchi added a nice flavor to it. Overall, the service could be improved, and it may not be recommended for those who value cleanliness.

The timing was not ideal as lunchtime had passed and the place was still getting ready, but I decided to stop by a very ordinary café tucked away in the corner. It was open for business, so I went in. The café was playing oldies music and had a slightly dim atmosphere. It was just a very ordinary café in the countryside. The counter didn't seem welcoming to newcomers. There was an older lady who seemed like a regular customer in the middle, chatting with the owner at the end. They were probably having a good time gossiping. I was indecisive about what to order when they brought me a complimentary coffee. It was a nice gesture and tasted good. After much contemplation, I decided to go with the hamburger curry. It took quite a while for the order to be ready. During that time, the regular customers were chatting away. It would have been better if I wasn't alone because I felt uncomfortable in that atmosphere. Finally, the curry arrived, and it was slightly sweet but delicious. The hamburger was clearly homemade and tasty. I would like to go back with my brother next time if I have the chance.

There used to be the old Haboro Line Tenenoh Station right in front of this place. Now the railway tracks have been widened to become the R232 Bypass, but you can still feel a nostalgic "station front" atmosphere in the area. For those who enjoy retro-style travels, this is a recommended gem. The ambiance of the shop is great, and the food is delicious. Especially the pork cutlet curry is outstanding in both quality and quantity, making you want to visit just for that. If you're feeling a bit peckish, the ramen is also good. You can taste a refined soy sauce ramen that seems like it was made by the owner of a cozy cafe. This is a place that we hope will continue to thrive for a long time.
