Visit on the night of May 4, 2022. Second time in almost 4 and a half years. Established in 1951 shortly after the war, this fugu specialty restaurant has over 70 years of history. I had a good impression from my previous visit and had been wanting to revisit. Checking on Tabelog, I saw that they were open until mid-May and had shirako available, so I made a reservation over the phone without delay. They kindly accepted a reservation for a solo diner and I was deeply grateful. [Overall Impression] Another delightful dining experience! The whole grilled fugu and grilled shirako were particularly impressive. The staff was kind and the atmosphere was pleasant even for a solo diner. If you want to enjoy natural fugu at a reasonable price, this is a great restaurant. ■Items Ordered Course menu or à la carte options available Added tempura, grilled shirako, and raw shirako to the Jukusen course Enjoyed a variety of dishes, had some drinks, and estimated a budget of 25,000 yen per person ・Drinks: Fugu fin sake 800 yen ・Jukusen course 14,000 yen ・Tempura 4,000 yen ・Grilled shirako 3,000 yen ・Raw shirako small portion 1,500 yen Should be pre-tax prices, but there was a discount, and the total bill was 25,000 yen ■Highlights ・All dishes were delicious, but the whole grilled fugu and the signature grilled shirako were particularly memorable ・Blanched fugu, tessa, and tepi had distinct flavors and enjoyable textures ・Tempura was slightly small-sized, but delicious, with a crispy coating; served with asparagus and baby corn ・Raw shirako was tasty, but grilling it might enhance the flavor even more ・Whole grilled fugu had large, flavorful pieces; the skin had a unique taste and texture when slightly boiled; accompanied by tofu, enoki mushrooms, shungiku, hakusai, and mochi ・Grilled shirako paired perfectly with a spicy sauce and had a rich, creamy flavor; an incredibly satisfying dish ・Ginger and green onion dashi soup ・Zosui rice porridge soaked in fugu flavor, offering a comforting taste; served with white rice, egg, green onion, and pickles (shibazuke and daikon) ・Dessert: Choice of 4 options, selected the Japanese-style panna cotta with black sesame kinako, mango, and strawberry on top [Visit Details] ■Date & Time ・May 4, 2022, 18:30 ・Second visit in almost 4 and a half years ・Meal duration was just under 100 minutes ■Location Closest station is Tennocha-ya.
