This time, fishing was a complete failure. The atmosphere was not lively like "one, two, three, let's go!" We left lunch up to my father and went to "Tora Tetsu" for a meal. I had heard that they serve ramen there, but I didn't expect to experience Tora Tetsu for the first time. Inside the restaurant, I noticed that they have a collaboration menu with the famous Sapporo soup curry restaurant "Garaku". It seems that a Garaku branch will also open near Tora Tetsu in Chitose around November, so maybe this collaboration is just a coincidence. Since it's a limited-time offer and the collaboration period is ending soon, I chose the "Spicy Dan Dan Noodles (¥850)" instead of the ramen, along with the "Spicy Zangi" for a total of ¥1,150. The place was quite busy, so we had to wait for about 10 minutes before our ramen and zangi arrived. The staff advised us to mix the soup well before eating, but I took the first sip as it was. The appearance of the noodles was nothing special, similar to regular dan dan noodles, but the taste of the soup was distinctly different! The combination of various spices gives it a unique spiciness of soup curry, enhanced by Tora Tetsu's homemade chili oil, resulting in a rich and flavorful soup. The red soup, not just a spicy miso ramen, was a surprise to me that it could bring out the taste of soup curry. The sesame also adds a sweetness, making it a flavor that would appeal to many people. Squeezing some lemon juice changes the taste to a creamy one, allowing for flavor variation according to preference. The noodles were homemade medium-thick curly noodles from the restaurant. They had a slightly firm texture with a good chew, and although I usually prefer softer noodles, these were also enjoyable. The zangi, as rumored, was larger than expected! It was about the size of 2-3 regular zangi pieces. I ordered two zangi pieces and also got rice with it, so I decided to take one zangi piece home for later. The freshly fried zangi was hot and crispy on the outside, with tender meat inside! It was juicy and flavorful with each bite, without the meat juices flying around. The sound and smell of frying meat coming from the kitchen during the wait had raised my expectations, and the actual taste did not disappoint! However, unlike the dan dan noodles, the spiciness of the zangi was a bit weak. My father ordered salt ramen and spicy zangi, and he also felt that the spiciness was lacking, unlike the salt zangi served at the restaurant. The staff did not make any mistakes in serving the dishes, so there was no possibility of an order mix-up, but we both felt that more spiciness would be better. Also, having both ramen and rice with meat was too much food! Even though the ramen alone was enough, ordering a rice dish seems to be a habit, and adding meat to that made it too filling! I managed to finish everything without having dessert, so I did my best! This was my first time at Tora Tetsu, not in Chitose but in Shintoku, and if I feel like it in the future, I will visit the Chitose branch as well! Next time, I might ignore my full stomach and go for the tonkatsu! Thank you for the meal.
