I went to a dining hall located near the hot springs of Obihiro Roman no Izumi. It's run by an elderly lady. The taste may vary, but both the miso ramen and soy sauce ramen are delicious. Maybe it's the hint of sesame oil? It's different from other ramen shops, but it was very tasty! (⌯ᵔ⏒ᵔ⌯) Good!!

This fall, a certain popular YouTube channel with over 500,000 subscribers, "Moku◯," featured this restaurant. It is a dining establishment attached to a hot spring bathhouse that you can come across while driving in Obihiro city. I had been curious about it for a while, and after watching the video, I felt compelled to visit. First, I took a bath in the hot spring bathhouse. The smell of sulfur (hydrogen sulfide?) was a bit strong. Since it was not crowded, I was able to relax. Now, as for the dining area, the curtains had just been raised. I sat at the counter and looked at the menu, ordering soy sauce ramen and pork bowl set, along with an extra small rice. I was quite hungry. The place had just opened, and the flow was not yet established. The older ladies were preparing the food, and one of them seemed a bit inexperienced. It took over 15 minutes for the set to arrive. First, I tried the ramen and sipped the soup, but honestly, it was disappointing. The MSG was not hidden! It was a rare miss. This led to a negative impression as I continued eating the ramen, and the delicious impression of the chashu was pushed to the back of my mind. Even though the soup seemed to be properly prepared in a large pot. As for the pork bowl, the meat was average, and the sauce had a vague taste, which was somewhat acceptable, but the rice was lukewarm, as if it had been warmed in a rice cooker. The extra small rice was also disappointing. It had been a while since I had such a disappointing dining experience. I wonder why "Moku◯" chose to feature this place... They have featured several other restaurants in Hokkaido, and there are two more in Tokachi, but it might be better to be a bit more selective.

On the first floor of the Roman no Fuku no Yu public bath, there is a charming Roman Spring dining hall. I stumbled upon it while heading to Indian Curry Shop Indian Higashi 5-jo store, and couldn't help but take a second look. I quickly searched and confirmed that it was open. I decided to order a regular portion of curry. I entered before noon on a weekday. There were no other customers, just one person came in after me. An elderly lady was managing the place alone. We chatted a bit and she was very hospitable. After having curry at the Indian restaurant, I opted for the lightest option, which was the soba noodles (530 yen). It was prepared quickly. While I was taking photos of the menu, the food was served. The taste didn't matter to me. I was drawn to the appearance of the place, which seemed like it could disappear at any moment, and that's exactly my taste. In addition to soba noodles, they also offer udon, ramen, and rice dishes. Thank you for the meal, elderly lady.

Today, I visited a restaurant called "Roma no Izumi" that I have been curious about for a long time but couldn't get around to visiting. I saw my followers recommending it, so I decided to give it a try. I arrived at 11 o'clock and there were no other customers at that time, only two people came in after me. The exterior of the restaurant looks a bit old-fashioned as it has been around for a while. Inside, there are 3 counter seats, 3 table seats, and 2 raised table seats. When I entered, a cheerful mother greeted me warmly. She even stopped by some neighbors passing by for a chat. I ordered the soy sauce ramen for 600 yen and a mini curry for 200 yen. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The ramen had toppings like chashu, menma, negi, nori, and wakame, with a slightly pork bone flavor. It felt like a nostalgic old-fashioned ramen from a traditional diner. The chashu seemed like a pre-made product. The noodles were medium-thick curly noodles, but they were delicious and nostalgic. The curry had a bit of spiciness but was also sweet and tasty due to the generous amount of ingredients. I'll definitely come back next time to try their fried rice. Thank you for the meal.

I went to the Roman Fountain Shokudo for the first time! Finally, I was able to visit this old-established dining hall. The interior of the store has a lot of history. When I entered, there was one other customer and the elderly female owner was managing the place alone, chatting happily with regular customers. The menu includes ramen, udon, soba, curry, and rice bowls, typical of an old dining hall. I ordered the soy sauce ramen for 600 yen. The interior has 3 counter seats, 4 table seats, and 2 raised tatami seats. The wall on the front side is made of glass, so you can see inside from the outside. The ramen arrived in about 7-8 minutes. It had a nostalgic taste, with a slight lard flavor. The soup was delicious, with a mild and just right level of richness. The noodles were a bit soft, maybe boiled too much. The toppings included chashu, menma, green onions, and seaweed. The chashu was a bit salty, but since it was small, it was just right. It was delicious. After finishing my meal, I chatted with the owner, who said they have been running the place for 35 years, starting at 40 years old and now being 75 years old. She was full of energy and mentioned that the ramen taste has never changed since the beginning. There was a notice in the store looking for someone to clean the hot springs. The owner was looking for someone to recommend. It was a charming experience, and I would like to try other items on the menu next time. I would like to visit the Roman Fountain Shokudo again. Thank you for the meal.

An old-fashioned soy sauce ramen shop run by a woman in her 70s. The nostalgic atmosphere inside the shop is filled with customers of the same generation enjoying their meals and chatting with the owner. The soy sauce ramen (600 yen) is rich in oil, giving it a moist texture rather than being light. After eating, your lips will feel slightly moisturized from the oil.

Second visit. It had been a while, but the owner's grandmother seemed to be doing well, which was reassuring. This time, I had soy sauce ramen and a mini curry. The soy sauce ramen had a traditional appearance with wakame seaweed and naruto fish cake, giving off a nostalgic vibe. The simple soup had a slightly sweet taste, and the noodles were quite ordinary, but overall, it had a comforting and nostalgic flavor. It's the kind of ramen you occasionally crave. The owner talked to me about various things and even asked me to come around the same time next week because a TV crew would be visiting for an interview. If the timing works out, I'll definitely visit again. Good luck with the TV interview! Thank you for the grandmother's comforting soy sauce ramen.

I can't believe they don't have cold soba for 550 yen or tempura soba for 580 yen.

In conclusion, it was a delicious experience when entering the restaurant. The interior was filled with elderly customers. I ordered soy sauce ramen and a mini curry. After a while, I felt a sense of warmth and nostalgia from the delicious food. Despite being in an unfamiliar environment, the cost performance is good, so it's a nice restaurant to visit!

[October 16, 2017 First Visit] First, please visit the Romano Fuku no Yu website. It is a vegetable mall hot spring located in a residential area in Obihiro. I have bathed in a mall hot spring at a Hokkaido hotel before, and it was a very pleasant experience. The Romano Yu here has a public bath on the second floor, and private family baths and a sauna on the first floor. It was mentioned that it has not been renovated since it was built in the 1970s, so it has a nostalgic atmosphere similar to Hanayashiki in Asakusa. Being born in the Showa era myself, this Showa vibe feels somewhat nostalgic. When the bath at home broke down, my family went to a public bath, and I have fond memories of that time. The world of memories seems to expand right there. After taking a bath in the hot spring, I visited the public cafeteria and had soy sauce ramen. Since I used a taxi, I also brought beer from the bath area because the restaurant does not serve beer. The soy sauce ramen tasted like the one my mother used to make. I heard that the taste of the soup can vary, and sometimes it is very delicious, but it sells out quickly. I was the only customer there, so I talked with Haru-san, who runs the shop, about the election. Obihiro seems to be a battleground for female candidates, and both options seem difficult to choose from. Indeed... The nostalgic soy sauce ramen was delicious, and it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for the meal. Stay healthy always!

This is a restaurant located near the center of Obihiro City, attached to the public bath "Roman no Izumi." The bathhouse was built in 1976, inspired by ancient Roman baths, and has never been renovated since its opening. The restaurant, run by a lively lady named Haru-chan, serves popular dishes like soy sauce ramen and pork bowl. The curry is a simple roux type with finely chopped carrots and pork, slightly sweet and homely in taste. The tonkatsu curry is decent, while the tamago-don, with unusual ingredients like kampyo, was quite flavorful. Both dishes had a homemade feel, and I might consider revisiting to try the chicken and egg bowl or the curry made the next day. Thank you, Haru-chan, for the meal!

This is a dining area inside a hot spring public bath building. Even if you don't use the bath, there is an entrance from outside that anyone can use. I didn't use the bath, but I was drawn to the "public dining hall" curtain. It doesn't have the Roman spring-like atmosphere (I've never been there...). I had pork bowl. The menu says, "More meat, same price." The pork bowl arrives. The pork loin is pan-fried and seasoned with a sweet and savory sauce. There were six thin and tough slices of meat. It was disappointing that it didn't have a juicy feel. The price of 700 yen is considered average for a pork bowl in Obihiro. I would like to try comparing it with other restaurants.

Roman Fountain! This time it's a family bath, so it's too risky for the three of us to enter together (whose risk?). So, next to this building is Romanofuku no Yu Address: 12-chome, Higashi 9-jo Minami, Obihiro City Bathing fee: 420 yen Business hours: 10:00-23:00 (Sundays from 7:00) Regular holiday: 2nd Wednesday The Roman Fountain, which has a private family bath, was the first to be built, and this Fukuno Yu was built later. (It seems a bit backwards, but oh well.) You enter through a somewhat suspicious entrance and go up to the second floor. It's a bit exciting. My husband likes to go to public baths when we're out and about...and then I thought about my husband again and chuckled. We said our goodbyes here, and I headed in alone. The hot spring quality is a simple spring, but it's a plant-derived moor hot spring that gives you a smooth feeling. It's a bit lighter in color than the black hot springs often found in Kamata and Jounan, but I'm happy with the slightly brownish water. I soaked in the bath feeling good and happily listened to the conversation between a grandma and her granddaughter who were washing their bodies together. But then, I heard a voice from the men's bath that clearly sounded like someone my husband knew, and I felt extremely embarrassed. I quickly got dressed and headed to the meeting place. The meeting place was the Roman Fountain Dining Hall, a popular eatery located below Fukuno Yu, next to the entrance of the public bath. I am unwavering in my choices and always end up going to my favorite places no matter where I go~♪ But seriously, with this crew in this kind of dining hall, people might think, "You came all the way to Hokkaido for this?" (laughs) It's a lovely place with both counter and table seating, perfect for families. The lovely smile of the motherly lady welcomes you♪ This is how a dining hall should be! Now, what should I eat? There's no Neapolitan or oolong high, so one person is feeling a bit disappointed. Probably going to another restaurant after this. I hummed a tune and looked at the menu. The set menu is a bit strict. Probably going to another restaurant after this. The fried rice was delicious with a nice soy sauce fragrance and a fluffy texture. The pork bowl looked so delicious with its shiny appearance♪ The pork bowl was also delicious at 700 yen. The fried rice was also delicious with a nice soy sauce fragrance and a fluffy texture. Yeah, it was delicious! I chatted with the motherly lady at the restaurant, and she mentioned that she might close the shop next year (the dining hall might remain open). I would like to come back again before that, but I probably won't be able to... So, as a memento, I asked for a photo! She put on some lipstick discreetly and for some reason, it was a photo with Napo-san that she wanted. A cute motherly lady♪ But I wanted a photo with just the motherly lady (laughs) It was a warm dining hall with a lovely smile. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal☆

I was talking with a classmate about "old-fashioned soy sauce ramen" and we ended up discussing a ramen shop we both knew. We decided to go there together. The shop, Marumatsu Shokudo, has a unique presence that can be a bit intimidating. The interior has a retro feel, and the menu prices are surprisingly low compared to the current trend of ramen shops. The soy sauce ramen (550 yen) had that nostalgic taste we had heard about, making it a fun experience to feel like we were back in the Showa era.

I chose the Roman-style bath at my favorite Ryosen, the family bath "Roman no Izumi", and enjoyed a refreshing fruit milk after my bath. The lady at the dining hall is always cheerful, and the food menu is consistently good. I will add some photos as well. Located in Obihiro city, the dining hall attached to the hot spring public bath "Roman no Izumi" offers a variety of dishes such as ramen and rice bowls. The food is affordable and delicious, catering not only to bathhouse visitors but also to local workers. The ramen and pork bowl I had this time were simple yet satisfying. It's a great place to stop by when feeling a bit hungry before entering the bath. As for the hot spring, the family bath "Roman no Izumi" used to have regular hot water until it was changed to a natural hot spring with abundant water. The adjacent "Roman no Fukunoyu" was built the following year due to the surplus hot spring water. The indoor baths for men and women are well-maintained, with a pleasant atmosphere and a resting area in the corridor. The spring quality is alkaline simple hot spring, with a temperature of 40.4°C and pH of 8.6. The water feels soft and has a nice fragrance and foaming quality, indicating the fresh source is well-utilized. The family bath "Roman no Izumi" also uses the same hot spring water, with private rooms featuring a tub for two people. It's a relaxing option when "Roman no Fukunoyu" is crowded. The water temperature is around 40°C, allowing for a leisurely soak. Thank you for the hospitality. I will definitely visit again. Soy Sauce Ramen Mini Pork Bowl Set 800 yen (Soy Sauce Ramen alone is 550 yen) Pork Cutlet Bowl 750 yen Roman no Fukunoyu Entrance Fee 420 yen (10:00-23:00, early morning hours on Sundays from 7:00, closed on the second Wednesday of the month) Roman no Izumi (Family Bath) Adult One Hour 580 yen (11:00-24:00, sauna available)

The public baths in Obihiro are mostly hot springs, with a rich amber-colored Moor spring. The "Roman Fountain Restaurant" here is a dining area attached to the "Roman Fountain". My go-to dish here is the nostalgic soy sauce ramen. Local regulars often enjoy a meal here after their bath, and I also use it in a similar way. I have a fondness for the "Roman Fountain" with its surprising name. The first floor has family baths, slightly more expensive than the public baths but with good spring quality, so I usually use the family baths. The facilities are completely old-fashioned, but it's worth going all the way from Furano to visit the "Roman Fountain". The second-floor public bath "Fuku no Yu" is lukewarm, so you can relax in it even after eating.

After using the family bath, I always stop by this cafeteria. The ramen is simple and delicious, but I often order the pork cutlet set meal. It comes with not only tonkatsu, but also pickled daikon radish, salted fish roe, simmered kelp, and a fried egg on a separate plate. The rice is a large portion, and the miso soup is piping hot and tasty. The pork cutlet bowl is also delicious and filling, and the curry is not too spicy, with a home-cooked taste.

In the old days, the pride of large hot spring hotels was the Roman baths like Termae Romae. One such nostalgic place is Romanofuku no Yu, near Tokachigawa Onsen, where you can enjoy paradise time in a Roman-style bath. This public bath with mall spring water is so smooth that it feels like a waste to enter at regular bathhouse prices. The cola-colored water, rich in sulfur, is a delight for enthusiasts. Next to the entrance of Romanofuku no Yu is a charming restaurant called Roman no Izumi Shokudo, where you can warm up your body even more after soaking in the hot springs. The pork bowl they serve, though not ginger pork, is a hearty dish with tender pork and sweet and savory sauce - a taste of home. The friendly mother running the place handles cooking, serving, and chatting with a smile. The interaction with locals like her is truly the essence of travel.

In Obihiro city, there is a strangely named hot spring called "Roman no Izumi" located to the east. It is an old-fashioned public bath with very good hot spring water. When my family went to soak in the hot spring, we noticed there was a dining area. We decided to try it out and found a retro-style diner with a cozy atmosphere. We sat in the tatami room and felt like we could stay there for hours watching TV. I had ramen, while my husband had the famous pork bowl (butadon). The pork bowl here had that classic diner taste and was delicious. Obihiro is known for its pork bowls, and this one did not disappoint.
