I love Misaki-no-Yu in Shikotsu so much that I keep going back even though it's far away. On the premises of Misaki-no-Yu, there is a shop that closes at 4 pm, so I often visit later to see the sunset from the open-air bath. This time, I arrived at 3 pm and decided to stop by. The shop sells local vegetables and has a lot of dried goods, as well as daily items like tofu. They also used to sell soft serve ice cream, but due to the influence of the coronavirus, they are not currently selling it. I bought a big and heavy kabocha for only 250 yen! I was so happy with my purchase. When I steamed it at home, it was slightly lacking in sweetness but still delicious. I would like to try buying some local delicacies next time. After eating sea urchin rice bowls with my family in Shakotan, my father wanted to buy some local delicacies at a shop near Shakotan-yu on our way back. This shop next to Shakotan-yu sells various delicacies as well as locally grown vegetables and fruits. While my parents were looking for delicacies, I wandered around the store and found out that they also sell soft serve ice cream. I decided to order one as a dessert after our meal. The soft serve had a milky sweetness and a slightly loose texture, which caused it to start melting quickly on that hot day. The problem was the cone - it was stale and had an unpleasant texture. Moreover, the bottom part of the cone became soggy even though I had just received it. Serving a cone in such a condition made me doubt the hygiene standards of the place. Thank you for the meal.

There is a shop that only operates until the end of July. Their "takenoko" (bamboo shoots) dish is so popular that reservations are needed. Luckily, the first batch of the season arrived on June 2nd! You have to buy it while you can! The smaller ones are softer and tastier, but it's rare to see ones this size. I was planning to grill them, but my mom boiled them instead. Still, they were delicious even without mayonnaise! Thank you for the bamboo shoot soft serve ice cream!
