The 100% buckwheat soba was delicious, with a not too sweet dipping sauce that I liked. However, I wish it had been a bit colder. The soba broth was also great, and I enjoyed the unlimited refills. I ordered the cold soba with grated yam, and it came with plenty of toppings, leaving me full. The rice was soft and sticky, almost like mochi. I would have preferred it a bit firmer. That's all. Thank you for the meal!

- 11/12 Long time no visit - On the way from the Kikonai site to the Fukushima site, I stopped by after a long time. The business days are every week on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11:30 to 14:30, so it's quite limited. The owners of this restaurant, who are farmers, go through the hard work of cultivating, harvesting, and naturally drying (the only one in Hokkaido) to provide Soba made from 100% locally grown buckwheat. The dashi stock made from kombu and shiitake mushrooms is also sourced from Fukushima town. I parked my car next to the restaurant and went inside. There were 3 groups of customers, totaling 4 people, already there. I went straight to the counter and ordered the "cold mountain vegetable Soba" from the lady and paid. It arrived in less than 10 minutes... It comes with black rice. I started eating the Soba as is and hmm, is this really 100% buckwheat? The taste of the Soba is... lacking, or rather, not good! I dipped the Soba in the dipping sauce and tried it, but still, it lacked flavor! The dipping sauce also lacked the umami taste! I tried the black rice, and it was sticky... you can't make onigiri with this sticky black rice. In the end, I gave up on the cold mountain vegetable Soba after eating about one-third of it! I stopped after one bite of the black rice! I remember it was decent the last time I had it, but this time, the Soba was not good. I won't mention the rating... The portion of the Soba here is over 200g, which is quite a lot! Well, if you have a big appetite, you might enjoy the large portion and find it delicious!

I saw a feature on TV and it made me crave it, so I went to eat. Although I usually prefer udon, I tend to want to try new soba when it's mentioned. Well, since I'm used to Izumi Shokudo near my parents' house, I went there. I took my 10-month-old baby with me, so I went right at the opening time. The old lady was just putting up the curtain (laughs). It's like a former meeting place, so it's safe for families with children because it's spacious. First, I paid at the register, and when we finished eating, we left the dishes there. I ordered mountain vegetable soba. It came with black rice. The soba was chewy and delicious! It's 100% buckwheat soba, but it was chewy. The broth was a bit salty, though. I felt like eating a little more rice. The mushrooms were crunchy, but I wouldn't say they were the best (laughs). There were various things, so my child was so focused on asking "What's this??" that I was able to focus on eating. Finally, I was satisfied with a proper dining out experience.

The location is facing National Route 228, with a parking lot for about 6 cars. Access by car is good. They only serve 100% buckwheat soba. I had the Mori-oh, which was a dark gray medium thickness soba with no visible grains. The cold water draining was adequate with no uneven cuts. The uniformity was impressive, with very few end pieces. However, the texture was lacking, feeling powdery and slightly undercooked. It seemed like the chef might have been off that day. The flavor was also not very strong. In early October, it seems they didn't have new soba available. The portion size was unusually large, equivalent to three servings at a regular restaurant. The dipping sauce was flat and on the sweeter side. It came with some pickles and a little mixed grain rice for 1,200 yen.

I had heard about the reputation of this restaurant for a long time, but I couldn't go there because of its frequent days off and its inconvenient location. Last year, I had a job that required me to stay in Fukushima town, but unfortunately both days fell on their days off, which made me very disappointed. Finally, my wish came true this time. When I entered, I was surprised by the depth of the restaurant despite its appearance. There were three long tables made from split logs lined up, and there were two hearths, giving it a feeling of a community center or a wake. There is a cash register at the back where you first order and pay. The menu includes mori, zaru, oomori, sansai, and kashiwa, all served with a light bowl of rice and pickled cucumbers. This time, I chose the oomori (1200 yen). Perhaps due to the lack of staff, there was a bit of a wait after ordering. Finally, I came face to face with the soba I had been eagerly waiting for. I was a little disappointed considering my high expectations. However, this is simply a matter of personal preference, as the soba was not bad or of poor quality for the price. It is just that I prefer soba with a firm and smooth texture rather than a fluffy meringue-like texture. Nevertheless, the fact that customers continuously come to this remote location along the national highway on weekdays indicates that there are many people who support this restaurant.

I visited a shop located in the town hall building during winter, and I felt a little scared because there was so much snow piled up against the windows. The menu was not displayed outside, so I went inside and was surprised by the limited options. There were only about two choices each of hot and cold soba noodles. They used local soba flour, which may be why it was a bit more expensive. The taste didn't leave a lasting impression on me. I have seen them selling fresh soba noodles from this shop at a fair in Yokado before.
