I visited the relaxed and cozy dining establishment for lunch! I came across this place last month while driving by and was surprised to see a new dining spot open here. After doing some research, I found out it was an Italian restaurant being featured on a local information website and even in the newspaper a few days ago. So, I decided to pay a visit. Despite the distance and poor road conditions, I arrived a bit before 12 pm. There was only one other group of customers in the restaurant. I ordered the daily pasta special, which was B-size shrimp and snap pea in white wine sauce for 780 yen. My friend ordered the daily set meal for 680 yen, which was a mixed fry that included horse mackerel, shrimp tempura, spring rolls, and fried chicken. After that, my friend decided to switch to the Little Devil-style lunch for 780 yen, and then we noticed the "Parmigiano Risotto" on the menu and changed the order to risotto for 880 yen. And just when we thought we had ordered enough, we also added a Margherita pizza for 780 yen to share between the two of us (clearly, we ordered too much). After about 5 minutes, we were served a salad followed by a warm plate for the risotto. And then, the highlight of the meal arrived - the Parmigiano Risotto served on a 45cm Parmigiano Reggiano cheese wheel. The chef carefully shaved the cheese onto the risotto, mixing it in before serving it on our plates. The risotto was slightly al dente, with a rich cheese flavor. There were chunks of cheese here and there, which cheese lovers like me found irresistible. The lunch menu also offered beer and wine by the glass for 280 yen each, but since I was the designated driver that day, I refrained from ordering any alcohol (next time, my friend will drive). The pasta dish was served on a warm plate, which I appreciated. The noodles were cooked just right, slightly al dente (a bit firmer than what Japanese people might prefer). The white wine sauce pasta had a generous amount of white wine added to an oil-based sauce, with a hint of garlic, which made it delicious. The Margherita pizza had a thin crust that was soft and chewy, almost like bread. The basil sauce added a nice touch, and the tomato sauce had a solid flavor. It made me feel like having a beer with it (even though I couldn't). We couldn't finish everything, so we asked to have the leftovers packed to take home. As we chatted after the meal, the staff offered us a palate-cleansing grapefruit sorbet as a complimentary treat. The sorbet was refreshing, with a surprise element of frozen cream at the bottom, which caught us off guard in a good way. The lunch set also included a soft drink for an additional 100 yen (coffee, tea, oolong tea, orange juice), and overall, I thought the cost-performance ratio was excellent. The restaurant had tables that could seat around 10 people, making it suitable for gatherings of moms with kids. The menu stated that the name "Trattoria Nonbiriya Shokudo" was chosen with the hope that customers could enjoy a leisurely meal. "Trattoria" means "dining establishment" in Italian, and the restaurant aims to provide a casual, delicious, and enjoyable dining experience. I had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant, where the owner's passion for food truly shines through. Thank you for the delicious meal!
