Oh? Once again, Mr. Kanno is not here. Our timing never seems to match up~ It's quite humid, so I came to Mr. Kanno's place to have some soft serve ice cream. You know, the soft serve ice cream from his place is from "Yamakawa Farm." Have you heard of it? They advertise it as being from Hakodate Onuma, but it's actually located in Nanporo Town. It's the same town as the famous Onuma dumplings (^^) Lately, you know, wherever you go, there's milk soft serve ice cream, right? "Yamakawa Farm" and "Yamanaka Farm" in Akai-gawa Village have been popularizing milk soft serve ice cream. Yamakawa and Yamanaka. The names are similar so people tend to think they're the same, but they're completely different companies, you know (^^) In the past, vanilla soft serve was the main thing, but now wherever you go in Hokkaido, it's all about milk soft serve ice cream, right? For a picky eater like me who sometimes craves vanilla soft serve, I gotta say, the milk soft serve from Yamakawa Farm here is delicious (^^) So, why don't you come to Mr. Kanno's place and try the delicious milk soft serve? It'll make your weekend even happier♫

Oh, it's been a while since I visited Mr. Kanono's place. I really want to eat tempura too. I'll order "3 pieces of tempura" and "fries" at the ticket machine. Huh? Mrs. Kanono isn't here today. Apparently, it's a school visitation day, so she's taking the day off. Oh well, it's visitation day. I wanted to see Mr. Kanono's child too (even though I'm not related). Tempura is really handy when you have a sore throat. Us Hokkaido people are only familiar with Sazae-san's tempura, not being in the Nagoya food culture area. So, tempura is quite rare for us. Now, should I use these fries as a snack for tonight's drinking? I was thinking of beer, but I might try it with hot sake instead. Well, Happy Friday is looking good!

After eating the "Teppan Ankake Spaghetti" at Mr. Kanno's place, you gotta stop by here too (^^) The second brand of Kanno Coffee Shop, "Happy Fritter Carnival." Normally, Mr. Kanno's wife runs this place (^^) I chose "Tempura (shrimp) 3 pieces" and "French fries" with a "Devil's Manju" from the ticket machine. Well, I'm not eating all of it myself, so that's how it goes. Oh, by the way, the partition that used to be there is gone, right? It seems that Mr. Kanno negotiated with the lucky store manager and got it removed. This way, it's easier for customers who shop at the supermarket to use. If you order fried chicken wings before shopping, you can get them freshly fried. Look, Kanno Coffee Shop is doing various things too. Why not stop by Happy Fritter next time? Happy Fritter is also delightful ♫

Nagoya Meshi restaurant where you can eat. Unlike the Kami no Kissaten store, there is a waiting time, but it is not crowded so you can easily use it and I like it. The fried chicken was delicious. I also like Tenmusu! The soft serve is light! It's delicious when combined with sweet potatoes! It's a downside for me that it's far from my house, but if it were nearby, I would go there and probably gain weight.

Alright! It's hot, so I'll stop by Mr. Kanno's place to have some delicious soft serve ice cream before heading home. The soft serve ice cream at Mr. Kanno's place is made with milk from Hakodate Yamakawa Farm. Unlike vanilla soft serve, it has a strong milk flavor. It's like eating cold milk. When it's steamy hot, soft serve ice cream is the way to go. As for me, being born in December, I'm really weak against the heat. Once I'm done, I'll also get some sweet potatoes as a souvenir for my partner. The sweet potatoes at Mr. Kanno's place have delicious sauce. It's so sweet that I want to lick the sauce at the bottom of the cup. Oh, right! I have a gathering tonight, so I'll also get some "tempura rice balls" to snack on. I prefer the shrimp ones. The tempura rice balls at Mr. Kanno's place are also delicious. Remember, you can easily use Happy Fri to shop. Try stopping by when you're lucky and shopping! ♫

A new soft serve ice cream shop opened in Teine Ward. Their specialty is milk soft serve ice cream. The Kanos have been serving milk soft serve ice cream for a while now, so it's not really a comparison. I wanted to try the soft serve ice cream from "Hakodate Onuma Yamakawa Ranch" run by the Kanos. You know, a lot of people get confused, but milk soft serve ice cream and vanilla soft serve ice cream are different things. It's about whether they bring out the flavor of the milk or add fragrance with vanilla beans. They look the same, so they can be confused, but if you really taste them, you'll understand. Oh, and while I'm at it, I might as well buy some fries for my wife. "My wife" originally refers to the spouse who married into the family. It's a term used by Kansai comedians to hide their embarrassment, but it's messed up the Japanese language since then. "Yome" means "the one who married into the family." "Hanayome-san" or "Oyome-san" are idioms. For one's own spouse, "ka-nai" or "tsuma" is appropriate, and "uchi no okusan" is incorrect. This time, I will definitely buy something for "my wife." Should I choose something else for my partner? Oh, my partner has a health check-up at their place soon, so it's better not to buy unnecessary things, right?

Oh? It's just Shin-Kotoni. Great! I'll have Happy Friday's Tempura Rice Ball for lunch today. Huh? There's no one in the kitchen? Oh, I can hear voices from the back. Should I ring this bell? Oh, here comes Mrs. Kanno. I'll give her the food tickets for 3 Tempura Rice Balls and a Chicken Wing Set. The Chicken Wing Set includes 3 sweet and spicy fried chicken pieces and 2 chicken wings for only 500 yen. The Tempura Rice Balls are 350 yen each. So, today's lunch will cost 850 yen. It's not like eating ramen at some other place, right? They don't pre-fry anything here, they fry the ingredients fresh. So, it may take some time before the food is ready. The bite-sized Tempura Rice Balls can be chosen with either fried chicken or shrimp, and I always go for the shrimp. I love shrimp, so what can I do? Haha, it's nice to have a quick and easy lunch from Happy Friday. It may not be the most filling, but it's still good. This kind of lunch is not bad at all. ♫

Long-term BM store "Happy Fritter Carnival" produced by popular café "Kanno Coffee" in Shin-Kotoni. I wanted to come earlier, but I didn't have many opportunities to visit this area... The store is located in the food court of the Lucky Shin-Kotoni store. The menu includes sweets such as soft serve, sweet potatoes, churros, and fried Oreos, as well as various Nagoya dishes. There are many things that catch your eye, but I chose "5 pieces of Nagoya Zangi (with sauce) @500" from the ticket machine. "We will fry it now, so it will take about 10 minutes," they said. I wandered around the store while waiting for the freshly fried hot zangi. When I cut it in half, even though it wasn't freshly fried, the meat juice dripped out. I heated it in the oven for a bit. The sweet and salty sauce is just right, not too thick or too thin, and the meat is tender and juicy, perfect with rice. One piece is about half the size of a "Hotei" zangi, but if it was freshly fried, it might be incredibly delicious. There are many zangi and karaage shops popping up lately, but I'm getting tired of the salt and soy sauce-based ones. I want to revisit for Nagoya food. Thank you for the meal.

I recently enjoyed some Nagoya food at Kanosan, so I decided to stop by the second brand, Hapifuri, as well. The owner of Kanosan and I were talking, and he mentioned that the customer base at Lucky Shinkotoni store tends to be older, so we shouldn't expect many impulse purchases there. He also suggested that we need to differentiate the food items sold at the deli counter at Lucky's. For example, they always have "karaage" (Japanese fried chicken) but not "tebasaki" (chicken wings). Maybe focusing on "tebasaki" would be a good idea? That's where the "Toku Toku Chicken Pack" comes in! It ranges from 1300 yen to 2400 yen, with different contents. I chose the A set with 12 pieces of karaage and 8 chicken wings. You pay in cash for this pack, not using the ticket machine. It takes about 20 minutes to prepare, so while waiting, you might want to withdraw 40,000,000 yen from the ATM (just kidding). When it's ready, take it home and enjoy it as a dinner dish. I paired it with a cheap Belgian beer from Seiko Mart, and it turned into a little party. It might be too early, but this could be a great option for Christmas. So, why not try getting the "Toku Toku Chicken Pack" from Hapifuri and have a little party at home? Hapifuri is also incredibly delicious!

The owner of the shop, Mr. Kanno, sent an email through Nifty Serve saying, "I'm going to make amazake using sake lees from Kokuki Sake Brewery." I thought it was PC-VAN? (Just kidding) So, I headed to the ticket machine aiming for "amazake" right away. Oh, the price went down from 300 yen to 200 yen. That's nice, but why? Isn't amazake made with leftover koji and rice husks, giving it a grainy texture? Mr. Kanno's "amazake" is thick but without any grainy texture. Hmm, us older folks recognize amazake with a grainy texture. Too bad. Could it be that young people and children don't like it with a grainy texture? I asked Mr. Kanno, and it seems that children don't drink amazake in the first place. It turns out that only older people order amazake. Oh, then SR is also in the older folks' group. Actually, in Mazumae, there's a chance to drink amazake at Kokuki Sake Brewery. They used to serve free amazake at the "Masike Sweet Shrimp Festival," now it's the "Mazumae Spring Flavor Festival." The amazake served at Kokuki was incredibly delicious. So, when I compared the amazake from that time with Mr. Kanno's "amazake." Hmm, I think there's room for improvement. But I won't say much, as Mr. Kanno probably has his own intentions. Instead, I'll buy some "Oni Manju" and "University Sweet Potato" to take home. And I'll come back looking forward to the "amazake" again ♫

I tried the new menu item called "Fried Oni Manju" which is an evolution of the traditional "Oni Manju". It's basically a steamed bun with sweet potato inside, topped with red bean paste and then deep-fried. It's a specialty from Nagoya. The "Fried Oni Manju" looks like "Fried Sweet Potato" because of the sweet potato influence. It's similar to a popular snack in Hokkaido called "Fried Sweet Potato". I also bought "Tempura Musubi" where you can choose between chicken or shrimp. I always go for the shrimp one. The size of the "Tempura Musubi" is perfect for two bites. You can find these delicious Nagoya dishes at the supermarket in Shin-Kotoni. Check it out next time for a great meal experience!

Once again, I received a certified mail from the owner of the shop, Mr. Kanono, saying "I've made a new product" (just kidding). So I immediately placed an order with Mrs. Kanono for the new item called "Oni Manju" (Demon Bun). I looked it up, and it seems to be a relatively popular snack in the Nagoya area. It's made by kneading flour and baking powder, cutting sweet potatoes into dice, and steaming them together. It's like a steamed bun, you know. At Kanono's place, they even top it with sweet red bean paste. It's quite sweet, but that's what makes it delicious. By the way, Kanono Coffee Shop is designated as a cooperating shop by the "Nagoya Cuisine Promotion Council." It's probably the only designated shop in Sapporo! Lucky for us, it's located in the food court and easy to access. Why not try some Nagoya cuisine in a casual setting? It's a happy Friday indeed!

Today, I stopped by Happy Frying again. They have interesting soft serve ice cream flavors like "Shrimp Fry Soft" and "Sweet Potato Soft." The new item this time is the "Mitarashi Dango Anko Soft." It's a cup of soft serve ice cream with white rice cake balls, red bean paste, and drizzled with mitarashi sauce. There are also syrup-soaked cherries for color. The rice cake balls are not too sweet, but when eaten with the red bean paste, it becomes very sweet! If you eat just the soft serve ice cream alone, the mild sweetness might feel lacking. The mitarashi sauce really adds to the sweetness. And at the bottom of the cup, there are corn flakes. Some people have complained about the corn flakes at the bottom, but they serve a purpose in relieving the numbness caused by the coldness of the ice cream. It's similar to how high-end ice cream comes with a wafer. The corn flakes in the soft serve ice cream have the same effect. So, don't just say "no corn flakes." The restaurant has thought about it for a reason. Now, I think I'll also get some tempura to take home.

From Jinno Coffee, straight ahead. In a corner of the supermarket. A shop produced by Jinno Coffee. Found it! Found it! Nagoya food! The sought-after Oiri Soft. Was this from Nagoya? I remember seeing it as a specialty of Kagawa on TV. "Yomeiri Oiri," sounds lucky!! Ordered: - Oiri Soft 380 yen This round candy melts in your mouth, bringing happiness, I think!! - Dote-ni Bento 450 yen - Tebasaki Karaage x2 480 yen A dish that reminds me of Nagoya. The Tebasaki is also from Nagoya! The Dote-ni is surprisingly delicious! The rice in the bowl disappears in no time ^ - ^ And it's reasonably priced ^ - ^ It was delicious. Thank you for the meal (o^^o)

Oh, I remember! The shrimp fry at Mr. Kanno's place is Instagram-worthy. Let's take a photo of the shrimp fry at Happyfry. Maybe we should also sign up for Instagram, right? So, let's choose the button for 450 yen at the ticket machine. This soft serve has real shrimp fry on top. The shrimp meat is made of banana, the coating is finely crushed cornflakes, and the tail is a persimmon seed. Additionally, there's chocolate sauce drizzled on top. It's truly a fake shrimp fry! The soft serve is made with milk from Hakodate Yamakawa Farm, not vanilla, but a light and refreshing milk soft serve. Underneath the soft serve is cornflakes, which play a similar role to the wafer that used to come with ice cream at old-fashioned cafes. This helps reset the taste buds after the coldness of the ice cream. Whether or not cornflakes are added, the amount of soft serve remains the same, showing that the shop is providing a service to customers without increasing the cost. So, let's try the shrimp fry at Mr. Kanno's place next time. Enjoy! 🎵

Every day, it's been hot day after hot day (´・ω・`) When the temperature exceeds 25℃, I become extremely sluggish, especially for those born in December like me (;^_^A It seems like it's been 33℃ every day, right? Just because it's Hokkaido doesn't mean it's cool at all (^^) So, I'm going to have soft serve ice cream at Happy Fries. Today, I chose a cone~. The soft serve ice cream here is from "Hakodateyama Kawamokujou," so it's full of milky goodness (^^)v You know? Milk soft serve is different from vanilla soft serve. Vanilla soft serve has a sweet vanilla scent and the sweetness stands out, while milk soft serve gives a refreshing impression because you unconsciously compare it to vanilla soft serve. I chatted a bit with Mrs. Kanno and she suggested getting some tempura rice balls too. Even though I just had lunch earlier Σ( ̄ロ ̄lll))) Do you know that in Western Japan, flavored seaweed is often used for onigiri? In Eastern Japan, where Hokkaido is located, roasted seaweed is overwhelmingly more common. In Nagoya, the birthplace of tempura rice balls, about 20% of onigiri are flavored seaweed. The tempura rice balls here are made with roasted seaweed (^^) Oh, by the way! You can choose between shrimp and fried chicken for the tempura rice balls, so pick your favorite. Personally, I love shrimp tempura tempura rice balls (^^)v Look, there's a corner in the supermarket where you can enjoy "Nagoya cuisine." Does anything catch your eye? Tempura rice balls are also delicious here♫

Owner Mr. Kanno sent a registered letter saying, "I've created a new menu," so I had to try it. But when I looked at the ticket machine, I couldn't find the button for "Shrimp Soft Serve" anywhere. So, I chose the 450 yen button, which is the same price as the University Potato Soft Serve and Churros Soft Serve. I was thinking, "Shrimp tempura in soft serve? Is it warm? How does the lightness of the soft serve go with the oiliness of the shrimp tempura?" But actually, this is a "fake shrimp tempura" made from a banana coated in cornflakes and a persimmon seed for the tail, shaped like a shrimp tempura. No need to worry at all. Oh, and here they also put cornflakes at the bottom of the cup for soft serve. Some people say, "Aren't you skimping on the soft serve?" or "You're being stingy with the amount of soft serve." But adding cornflakes actually increases the cost, reducing the profit margin. Soft serve only would be more profitable. It's not right to complain just based on personal preferences. Try the "Shrimp Soft Serve" that looks like shrimp tempura. It has great taste and a memorable impact!

Well, after buying coffee beans at Mr. Kanno's place, I must stop by Hapifuri next. Hapifuri is a second brand of Kanno Coffee Shop. They even have "Produced by Kanno Coffee Shop" written on their flyer. Mr. Kanno had informed me earlier that they were offering "University Sweet Potatoes" today. So, I am aiming for the University Sweet Potatoes today. I greeted Mr. Kanno's wife and then purchased a "University Sweet Potato Soft Serve" for 380 yen, along with 2 pieces of fried chicken wings from the ticket machine. This place is like a corner in a supermarket food court, with customers waiting in the eating area. It takes about 8 minutes. But I don't mind waiting at all. In short, it's soft serve ice cream with a sweet potato on top. The sweet potato is not hot, as it would melt the ice cream. How about that? Isn't the combination of something cold and something hot like an affogato interesting? Well, the delicious soft serve ice cream from Yamakawa Farm quickly turns into a liquid. There are corn flakes at the bottom of the cup. Not to add volume, but to enhance the combination of soft serve and corn. I'll enjoy the sweet potato and chicken wings at home later. Yamakawa Farm's soft serve ice cream is just too good. You could eat as much of this soft serve as you want. Go ahead, give the University Sweet Potato Soft Serve a try. Hapifuri is also delightful ♫

Hmm? Master and Madam aren't here today. Well, that's right, they're human after all, they need a break once in a while to avoid getting sick. So, today I'll order 5 chicken wing tips from the ticket machine. The part-time worker said, "I'll fry them for you, so please wait about 3 minutes," and explained politely. Of course, I'll wait patiently here. I'll stand back a bit so as not to get in the way of the cooking in the worker's line of sight. "Sorry to keep you waiting~" they called out, exactly 3 minutes had passed. Alright, time to go home and have a beer. Today's beer is PALM beer bought from Seicomart. This beer is quite popular in Belgium. It's nice that they import and sell it at a local convenience store in Hokkaido. With an alcohol content of 5.2%, it's considered a light beer, but it has a great flavor. The body is also quite noticeable, so it goes really well with the flavorful chicken wings. Oh no, I'm in trouble. If I finish one chicken wing and one PALM beer, I'll be in trouble. I need to control myself and save some. Usually, I have chicken wings made by the Master, but the ones made by the part-time worker were delicious too. Chicken wings and beer go hand in hand. I won't say anything bad, but why don't you try one? ♫

★Tempura (5 pieces) for 500 yen ★Miso Kushi Katsu for 150 yen per skewer Lucky Shin-Kotoni store, produced by Kami no Kissaten A take-out specialty store for Nagoya cuisine You purchase food tickets from a vending machine It seems that orders are backed up, so it may take a while to hand the ticket to the staff (^^; Since they don't have pre-made items, it takes time to prepare, so it's best to order before shopping (^^)b When you think of Nagoya, you think of Tempura! The bite-sized pieces come in a set of 5, with 2-3 small shrimp each Personally, I wish there was a bit more sauce The Miso Kushi Katsu has a sweet and light taste, like the broth of doteni I visited around 4 pm on the weekend They ran out of rice while I was there, so it's better to go early if you're aiming for a bento Thank you for the meal (^ω^)
