I'm heading to Takikawa city for work and on the way, I'll also stop by Tobetsu town, so I decided to go without using the highway. Oh! Even if I go from Tobetsu to the highway, there isn't much time difference between using the highway and the local road. Plus, it's already past lunchtime, so... I decided to go to "Popot" which I've been curious about for a while. Every time I passed by the front of the store, I was interested in it. The daily menu is written on the easel in front of the store. I wonder which one to choose... When I looked at the menu, it seems like omurice is their specialty? It says that even Degawa Tetsuro ate it. So, I decided to go with that. Omurice is 1100 yen. It was brought to me in less than 10 minutes. Let's dig in! How many eggs did they use for this? The omelette is quite thick. The amount of rice inside is a bit small. The rice has a nice crispy texture. The ingredients are simple, just chicken, onions. The taste is average. It's quite ketchup-y. It doesn't come with salad or soup, so I feel like 1100 yen is a bit expensive. Maybe I should have gone for the daily menu. Overall, it was an okay meal. If I have the chance, I might visit again in the future!

I visited a long-established restaurant in Tsukigata-cho. Since its opening, it has been known for its delicious omurice, and I have visited several times a year. It seems that they have recently added soup curry to their menu, so I visited after a long time. The soup was not very spicy but had a spicy flavor with hints of nuts. I wanted to try their recommended omurice, so I ordered the om curry, which was delicious. My companion had the soup curry and said it was even better than what specialty shops offer. I don't often go to Tsukigata, but if I'm nearby, I would definitely visit this restaurant again.

There is a parking space in front of the building. The exterior looks like a cafe, but the interior atmosphere is more like a dining room. There are counter seats, table seats, and raised tatami seating, with a decent number of seats, but it was quite crowded during lunchtime. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of noodles, set meals, rice bowls, and more, ranging from Japanese to Western cuisine. This time, I ordered the recommended "Omelette Rice Curry (1,200 yen)." It was ready in about 10 minutes. As shown in the photo, the omelette rice is beautifully presented with a mild curry sauce drizzled around it. The omelette is not the modern style fluffy half-cooked type, but rather has a soft texture with a firm cook. The chicken rice inside has a subtle ketchup flavor, which paired well with the omelette, but I felt that curry might be better suited for plain rice. The omelette rice itself was delicious, so I would like to try a regular omelette rice if I have the chance.

[Completely Non-Smoking] Along the national highway in Tsukigata Town, Kabato District, there is a diner/restaurant with a drive-in-like atmosphere that has been around for quite some time. It has always been popular among passing travelers on the national highway as well as local regulars. The restaurant is located along National Route 275, right at the intersection with the Ishikari Tsukigata Stop Line where there is a traffic light. On August 6, 2022, at noon, I revisited this restaurant that has been around for a while. I have been here a few times before but never got around to posting about it, so this is my first time sharing my experience. Unfortunately, I arrived almost at noon, which is the worst time to arrive. It was a busy day as it was during the summer vacation and on a Saturday. The restaurant was quite crowded with both local and traveling customers, but as a solo diner, I was fortunately seated at the counter. I was a bit worried about the prices, as the large portion of the omelette rice I had before was priced at 1200 yen. This time, I ordered the Chuka-don for 850 yen with an additional 100 yen for the large portion. The young staff member, perhaps a part-timer, was working diligently and efficiently. The husband seemed focused on cooking, while the wife appeared to be multitasking between the kitchen and the floor. Despite being busy, they made sure to greet customers properly, which showed that they ran a good restaurant (the service was good from before). It took about 7-8 minutes for my order to arrive. The dish was served on a flat plate, and for a moment, I thought it was yakisoba with sauce on top (laughs). The sauce on top was piping hot, which was much appreciated on this chilly day in early August with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius and strong winds blowing. The Chuka-don was topped with a generous amount of wood ear mushrooms and had a delicious soy sauce flavor. The rice was cooked perfectly. The restaurant was busy with customers coming in one after another, so I didn't have a chance to ask for water. However, the staff were nice, so I felt a bit guilty but managed to ask for water twice. The staff were too busy, and this restaurant occasionally closes for lunch early, so it's important to be aware of that. Despite the busyness, I didn't feel annoyed and would definitely want to visit this restaurant again. Oh, and the water was really delicious too! ♬

Omelette rice, 1000 yen. The fluffy and creamy egg is delicious in this omelette rice. It may be simple, but the egg has a sweetness that lives up to its name as a specialty dish. The slightly higher price may be a concern, but it's nice that they are open even on Sundays when most other places are closed.

After soaking in the hot springs in the morning on the second day of our stay at Tsukigata Onsen, we finally arrived at Popot, a place we had been wanting to visit. The curry was thick, spicy, yet mellow with a crisp taste. The chicken rice in the curry was a bit firm, which didn't blend well with the curry. Overall, the food was delicious, but the omurice curry may not be suitable for those who prefer a lighter flavor. Despite not feeling my best that day, the meal was enjoyable, and I look forward to trying the omurice or set menu on my next visit.

I heard that even the comedian Degawa and his group visited this place on their electric bike journey! Looking at the menu, they offer a variety of dishes including Western, ramen, and more. When I can't decide, I usually go with the recommended dish on the menu, so I ordered the "Omelette Rice Curry". While waiting and playing with my phone, the dish arrived promptly. The omelette rice looked beautifully presented, and the curry had just the right amount of flavor, making it delicious! The omelette was fluffy and had a great texture. But personally, I think curry goes best with white rice (^^; Well, that's just my preference. Thank you for the meal! One thing that caught my attention was that the staff greeted the regular customers sitting next to me, but not the first-time visitors (laughs).

So, I just decided to go here. It seems like they recommend the omurice, but their menu is a mix of Japanese and Western dishes. When you're hungry, pretty much anything sounds good. (Individual preferences may vary) If there was a place like this nearby, I would definitely come often. After getting excited about the omurice, I ended up ordering the ankake yakisoba. My companion said it wasn't that good, but it was fine for me. It tasted as expected for me, but weren't there too many wood ear mushrooms in it?

I debated between ordering curry omurice or regular omurice, but decided to go with the classic omurice in a large portion. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite busy, but by the time our food arrived, we were the only ones left. Most likely because it was close to 1pm and everyone was heading back to work after their lunch break. As for the taste of the omurice, it was just right. Nothing particularly special, but the balance of flavors was good and it was a comforting taste.

The Seikantoshi Line (Sapporo-Naebo Line) is going to be discontinued between Shin-Totsukawa and Hokkaido Medical University, so I took a short trip to Tsukigata to visit the Petitrip Prison (Kabato Museum) and Maruyama Park, and had lunch at Popot-san. The restaurant is not far from the station, and it seems to be a place of relaxation for the local residents and drivers on Route 275. When we sat down and opened the menu, we saw that Degawa-san had visited the restaurant during his motorcycle trip with a watermelon helmet. My friend ordered a ramen and rice bowl set, while I chose the curry omelette rice. I hesitated between normal and spicy, but I wanted to try the curry as well. As we chatted, the omelette rice arrived on a tray. It was surprisingly big, with a thin layer of egg neatly wrapped around it. The omelette rice was a classic Western-style dish with a not-too-strong flavor that paired well with the curry. The curry was a light European-style one, packed with flavor. It was a bit spicy (around medium in store-bought curry roux), and it got a little bitter towards the end, but I finished it. My friend enjoyed the old-fashioned ramen he ordered, saying it was delicious. There are few dining options along Route 275, so this restaurant is quite valuable. Thank you for the meal.

It's lunchtime in this area where I rarely go. Now, where should I go? I searched on Tabelog and found a place called Popott that seemed to have delicious fried food, so I decided to go there. It was a bit past lunchtime, so it wasn't crowded. There is parking available in front of and next to the restaurant. It seems like a place that serves as an izakaya at night and for lunch during the day. The interior has one table seat and four sunken kotatsu tables, as well as counter seats. The omurice is recommended here. They also serve ramen, soba, and other noodle dishes, as well as set meals. I ordered the fried chicken set, which looked delicious in the photos I saw on Tabelog. The fried chicken looked big, so I had high expectations. When it was served, the set meal looked compact, with plenty of rice and four normal-sized pieces of fried chicken. The rice was generously topped with a sweet sauce, which went well with the fried chicken. I enjoyed the delicious miso soup and finished the rice with the fried chicken. Overall, there was nothing to complain about. It was a delicious set meal.

Arrived on a regular day at 12:30. There were 4 groups of customers before and 2 groups of 2 afterwards. It was busy during lunchtime. The restaurant is located along the 275th street in a noticeable area. Visited with 3 colleagues from work. There were 2 female staff members and a male voice from the kitchen welcoming customers. The recommended menu item was the "Omelette Rice". They also had ramen, soba, udon, curry, rice bowls, set meals, and even a selection of izakaya dishes. I ordered the "Spicy Miso Ramen" for 800 yen, with the regular miso ramen priced at 750 yen. It arrived last, following the orders of one group of customers, after about 10 minutes. The soup had a tangy taste along with spiciness. The miso flavor was on the lighter side. The spiciness was quite strong for those who like medium spice levels. The noodles were slightly thin and had a moderate firmness. The two slices of chashu had a smoked flavor. There were plenty of crunchy leeks and bean sprouts, as well as onions. It was surprisingly authentic and spicy ramen. A regular miso ramen might have felt weak in comparison. I look forward to trying the "Omelette Rice Curry" next time.

I couldn't decide between omurice or curry, but then I found omurice curry! Eating omurice while drinking curry is the best!

This is my second visit to this restaurant. Last time, my companion had the omurice curry and it looked delicious, so this time I decided to try it. It comes with a salad. The omurice itself is tasty, but with the curry it becomes even better, adding a nice spicy kick to the smoothness of the dish.
