This shop is a little far from the station and doesn't have a prominent sign, so it could be easily overlooked. I tried the spicy "tsukemen red" this time. When I handed in my ticket, I was able to choose the level of spiciness from 3 options, and I chose the spiciest one. Also, you can choose between large (1.5 servings) and medium (1.2 servings) for free, and you can choose between hot and cold noodles. The noodles that came out were medium thick and chewy. It wasn't too firm, but a large serving of 1.5 noodles is more than what you would get at other places. For someone who doesn't eat much like me, it was almost enough for dinner even without skipping a meal. As for the anticipated spiciness, I asked for the spiciest level, but I didn't feel much heat. The color looks very red, but it's just slightly spicy. There isn't that intense chili pepper capsaicin kick, but the soup complemented the umami flavor perfectly without throwing off the balance. Normally, I prefer firmer noodles, but the chewiness of these noodles lifted the soup just right, providing a satisfying eating experience in perfect condition.

Tsukemen soy sauce extra large hot atsumori
I had never been to Hanakyu in Tenroku before, and the one time I went it was closed. I checked the business days on Tabelog, but it wasn't listed, so I thought oh well and headed to Tenroku. To my surprise, it was closed. I wasn't sure what to do, but then I remembered the nearby Kin. I was able to sit right away at Kin today. Since my last mistake with the spicy version, I decided to go with soy sauce this time. After a while, my bowl arrived and I dug in. The noodles were pretty tasty, but it was quite greasy. On top of that, there was pork belly in it, so even the meat was greasy. Personally, it was a bit challenging for me because I have a policy of finishing a free extra large portion, but I managed to finish it. However, my dislike for greasy food is just a matter of personal preference, so I think it would be good for those who like greasy food (I can't handle the richness of Tenichi's broth at all). I forgot to mention, the bamboo shoots were exceptionally delicious.

I was looking for a ramen shop that serves tsukemen with level 3 spicy red soup when I came across a highly rated tsukemen shop I had never seen before. I went in and was seated right away. When I asked the master for a recommendation, he suggested the soy sauce and red soup tsukemen. Since I like spicy food, I chose the red soup with a medium-sized portion. The master mentioned that the spice level goes up to 3, so I asked if level 3 is very spicy. He said it's not too extreme, so I ordered it. When the dish arrived, it wasn't as spicy as I expected. In fact, it lacked flavor other than the spiciness. It felt like I was just slurping slightly spicy noodles. Next time, I'll try the soy sauce flavor.

Headed to "Menya Chika" in Kita-ku, Osaka. It's just a short walk north from Exit 2 of Tenjinbashi Rokuchome Station on the Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line. There is a coin parking nearby for 200 yen for 40 minutes. The exterior of the restaurant is unassuming, and it's easy to miss as there were people waiting outside on this day. The interior is small with a L-shaped counter seating for 7, giving off a traditional vibe with walls and ceilings stained with soot. The entrance door only opens halfway, adding to the old-school charm of the place. The menu items include black pepper and vinegar for flavor enhancement, and they provide barley tea in a pot, which is a nice touch. I ordered the "Tsukemen Shoyu" for 800 yen with a medium size, which was quite generous. The wavy medium-thin noodles were well-coated with a flavorful oil, ensuring a satisfying experience. The dipping broth had a slightly cloudy appearance and a savory taste with a hint of acidity, making it more on the salty side. The toppings included tender chashu, bamboo shoots, half-seasoned egg, and greens. There is no complimentary soup refill here, and the service is efficient with the owner managing everything on their own. Once you finish your meal, you clean up your area before leaving. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.

Today I visited Menya Chika in Tenjinbashi-rokuchome, which I had been curious about on SNS. As others have commented, the exterior is easy to overlook. I chose the red, level 2 spiciness, and large size options. With the generous portion and delicious taste, the fact that they offer it for only 850 yen in this day and age makes it a great value. The quality of the taste is also top-notch, truly wonderful. I think I'll go for level 3 spiciness next time. Thank you for the meal!

The appearance of the restaurant looks quite run-down, but it seems to be a popular spot, especially known for its dipping noodles. I ordered the soy sauce dipping noodles served cold this time. You can choose the amount of noodles for free, and I went with a medium size, which turned out to be quite generous. The dipping sauce was lighter than expected. I really liked the chashu pork slices. The noodles were just as rumored, with a nice chewy texture and a hint of sweetness. They were well-drained, showing the careful work of the owner. However, the dipping sauce tends to cool down quickly, and if you order a large portion, it might run out before you finish all the noodles.

On the last day of staying in Tenroku, I had some free time in the morning, so I walked to Torii Miso near Tenmangu Shrine and back. The nostalgic shopping street seemed to have changed quite a bit from 10 years ago. I searched for a shop that was open at 11 a.m., and ended up at this shop, not knowing what kind of shop it was at all. The sliding door only opened a little, as if the door was broken. I was surprised because I had no idea what kind of shop it was. Maybe it's a shop that's spreading by word of mouth. I don't like the food ticket system, but maybe it's unavoidable because it's a one-person operation. They had dipping noodles with sesame, salt, soy sauce, and spicy flavors, and you could choose between large (1.5x) and regular (1x) sizes for free. I didn't notice any of that, though, so I didn't know. There was also tantanmen, which you could have hot or cold. I hesitated a bit and chose the hot one. My companion had sesame, while I had salt. The dipping sauce came with bamboo shoots, dipping sauce, and a block of chashu pork, which was quite thin and easy to drink. The large portion was quite substantial. I ate slowly, worried that the noodles might stick together. The broth was a bit light and lacked saltiness, so it felt a bit bland. Thank you for the meal.

Large portion soy sauce tsukemen. For lunch at the popular restaurant Menya Chika in Tenjinbashi Rokuchome. The restaurant looks quite old, and you can't tell if it's open from the outside. The door only opens halfway, but it's already full by 11 am because it's so popular. This time, I ordered the soy sauce tsukemen for 800 yen. You can choose from regular (1.25 servings) or large (1.5 servings) for free. I decided to go for the large serving. You can also choose between cold or hot noodles, and I chose hot. The younger customers who came in later only ordered regular servings. I started to wonder if I went overboard with the large serving, but when it arrived, it was quite a lot. I thought 1.5 servings would be around 250g before cooking, but it seemed like more. The soy sauce for dipping was light, and the noodles were thick but easy to eat. The dipping sauce also had slices of chashu. Besides the noodles, it also came with bamboo shoots, greens, and half an egg for 800 yen, which was a great deal. It was delicious, and now I want to try other varieties of tsukemen as well. #23rd year, 21st bowl.

For lunch on this day, I went to this restaurant. I used the ticket machine to order the soy sauce ramen for 800 yen from the top left row. I also added a boiled egg topping for 100 yen. I handed the ticket to the staff and received my meal in about 10 minutes. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Visited for the first time for lunch on the weekend. I had been curious about this place for a while, but it was often closed, so I finally made it. There was no wait, and I ordered the "Tsukemen Goma" (850 yen) from the ticket machine. After a short wait, the dish arrived. Simple tsukemen with dipping sauce. The dipping sauce had a nice sesame aroma, but it was different from a typical sesame sauce. It was really good when mixed with the noodles. I really liked the tsukemen here. I would love to try the other options as well. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

While on the move, I made a pit stop at the "Menya Chika" near Tenroku, a place I had always wanted to try. Although their tsukemen is famous, I decided to go for the "Ramen Akai" for a change. You can choose the level of spiciness and noodle quantity, so I went for max spiciness level 3 and normal noodle amount. The nostalgic atmosphere of the restaurant was soothing, and my bowl arrived in about 10 minutes. The double soup with strong chicken and pork flavors, along with the right amount of spiciness, created a deep and satisfying taste. The thickly sliced rolled chashu had a firm texture and was delicious. The homemade medium-thin straight noodles slid smoothly into my mouth. I had a feeling that the normal, non-spicy version would be even more delicious. This was my 277th bowl of ramen this year.

I visited the ramen shop recommended by the popular YouTuber, Leiran a.k.a. Pompon-chan, who I recently watched. It was a bit difficult to find the shop as it didn't have a clear sign or curtain at the entrance. When I arrived around 11 am on a weekday, I was the first customer. I decided to try the "Red Tsukemen" which the staff said was spicy but not too much. The noodles were not too thick for a tsukemen and the soup looked very spicy. The soup was indeed quite spicy, even though I chose the medium level of spiciness. The toppings included half an egg, bamboo shoots, and green vegetables, as well as thick slices of fatty meat in the soup. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, but I regretted not choosing a regular soy or salt tsukemen for my first visit. I would like to try that next time. The area around Tenroku has many famous ramen shops, making it difficult to choose where to eat. It's a happy dilemma to have.

On Monday at 12:00, I went to "Menya Chika" in Tenjinbashi Rokuchome. It was crowded but I waited for my turn. After 3 minutes, I was seated. Inside the restaurant, there were bags of flour stacked up and what looked like a noodle-making machine. The kitchen seemed to have a long history. I was hesitant between ordering the "Ramen Shio (750 yen)" and the "Tsukemen Shio (800 yen)," but I chose the latter with a free medium-size option. It arrived in 11 minutes. One bite and it was delicious. The oily dipping sauce was slightly spicy with a lot of umami flavor. It had chashu, green onions, and shredded red pepper. There were also some burnt green onions. The noodles were smooth and had a nice chewiness. The bowl also had a boiled egg, bamboo shoots, and spinach. The building looked quite old, but the taste was solid. The fact that the tsukemen was only 800 yen for this quality was very reasonable. I would like to try the "Ramen Shoyu" or "Ramen Shio" next time. Thank you for the meal.

On Saturday, August 6, 2022, I visited Menya Chika, a ramen shop that I had been curious about in Tenjinbashi Rokuchome. I arrived at 11:48 and bought a meal ticket. There were empty seats available, so I sat down. At 11:59, my tsukemen (dipping noodles) arrived. I ordered the tsukemen with shoyu (soy sauce) broth in a large size, along with an additional boiled egg. The total cost was 900 yen. I learned that the large size was free, so I opted for that. The medium-thick straight noodles were to my liking, with a good balance of firmness and chewiness. The shoyu clear broth was light and the extra boiled egg was a nice touch. The large portion was indeed generous, weighing around 300-350g. Overall, the meal was great value for the price. I really enjoyed the noodles and would like to try other dipping broth varieties in the future. Thank you for the meal. #MenyaChika #TenjinbashiRokuchome

Located in the Tenjinbashi-suji Rokuchome area, Menya Chikasan. It's been a long time since my last visit. The bright summer sun outside made the interior of the restaurant look dark, and for a moment I was worried that they might not be open. However, the sign outside clearly stated that they were open, so I entered. The retro atmosphere inside was cool and laid-back.
I had ramen last time and tsukemen before that, so this time I decided to go for tsukemen again as part of my rotation. I couldn't resist getting the large size, along with an ajitama (flavored egg) topping. Nowadays, toppings are almost expected, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that the ajitama was already included. I even went for a double ajitama, feeling a bit indulgent. The shoyu dipping sauce paired perfectly with the thin noodles, and before I knew it, I had finished every last bite. Despite feeling stuffed, I left the restaurant completely satisfied.

"Menya Chika (Osaka, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture) is a restaurant that opened in July 2011, offering ramen and tsukemen using homemade noodles by a chef who trained at ramen shops in Tokyo. On April 28, Tsukemen Soy Sauce ¥800, Boiled Egg ¥100, Thin Noodles ☆☆☆★☆ Thick Tsukemen Broth (Soy Sauce Base, Pork, Chicken, Fish) Light ☆☆☆★☆ Rich Toppings: - Chashu: A thick, tender texture with a satisfying chew and a well-seasoned, fatty meaty flavor. - Menma: Perfectly seasoned with a hint of sweetness, juicy and flavorful. - Flavored Egg (1 piece standard): A gentle seasoning that brings out the slight sweetness of the ingredients, with a moist texture and a rich, creamy yolk flavor. - Komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) - Green Onions A reviewer noted that the homemade noodles had a firm, yellowish skin and a smooth texture that slides easily when slurped, combining well with the tsukemen broth. The fragrant soy sauce broth, with visible umami components, has a rich and thick oiliness, a robust umami from chicken and sweet pork, enhanced with a seafood flavor, and a hint of acidity that complements the noodle's flavor. The reviewer enjoyed the delicate yet robust tsukemen, where the fine but strong homemade noodles, combined with the soy sauce flavor and richness of the broth, allowed for a unique and enjoyable dining experience. #MenyaChika #SoySauceTsukemen #HomemadeNoodles #Tenjinbashi #OsakaRamen #OsakaGourmet #Ramen #ChukaSoba #Tsukemen #RamenLover #Noodles #RamenNoodles #RamenClub #RamenActivity #NoodleInstagram #RamenInstagrammer #RamenPatrol #RamenTour #RamenLover #WantToConnectWithRamenLovers #RamenVideo #YouTube #SarahGourmet"

Tenma no Menya Chika. It's a ramen shop that I've been curious about. It has irregular holidays, so I tried four times in the past but it was closed. On my fifth attempt, it was finally open.
Tsukemen Shoyu (800 yen) with Ajitama (100 yen) - The dipping sauce has a slight acidity and is rich and delicious. It's addictive and doesn't get boring. The noodles are smooth and irresistible. The Ajitama is also rich. It's not overly impactful, but it's a tsukemen that you want to keep eating.

Today, I found myself at "Menya Chika" in Tenroku. Here, you can get a medium or large serving for free. Despite being on a budget, I couldn't resist getting the large serving, even though it's already past lunchtime and I plan to eat again later. They even offer a hot serving option, which is quite rare. I ordered the "tsukemen salt large hot serving." The owner manages the shop alone but maintains a calm and efficient service. The shop itself has a charming old-fashioned atmosphere, even more so than "Menya Taiken" in Kyoto. Before I knew it, the tsukemen arrived. It's a unique system where you pay for your order by exchanging it with a ramen ticket. I took a bite and it was delicious - a light and flavorful broth with a strong seafood taste. The noodles were chewy and had a high water content. The toppings included large bamboo shoots, some leafy greens, and a seasoned egg. The large serving (1.5 times the regular portion) is said to be 400g, but it felt like even more. I wonder if I can handle eating again later. Thank you for the meal.

"I visited 'Menya Chika,' located near Tenroku, and tried their 'Shoyu Ramen' (2 servings) for 700 yen. The broth is made from pork bones, chicken bones, and seafood, with a low viscosity soy sauce base that is mellow and well-balanced. The richness of chicken and pork bone broth is enhanced by the seafood flavor, creating a flavorful and balanced taste. The homemade noodles are medium-thin straight noodles with a rich wheat flavor and a firm texture. The tender chashu has just the right amount of fat and seasoning, allowing you to fully enjoy the meat's umami. They offer free large (1.5x) or medium (1.25x) servings of noodles. On the table, there are black pepper, vinegar, and chili oil for you to adjust the flavor to your liking."

Saturday 13:35 Two customers were already there when I arrived. Following the online comments, I ended up at a seemingly mysterious shop with no signboard. Some comments said it was a hidden gem, but upon closer inspection, it didn't seem that dirty. The restroom was not very appealing though. The shop was run by a male owner alone.
- Tsukemen Salt Medium Size with Hot Soup Topping ¥750
I prefer my tsukemen with hot soup topping. I understand the appeal of enjoying the firmness of the noodles, but I personally don't like it when they become lukewarm. You can get a free upsize to large (1.5 times) for the noodles. The medium size is 1.25 times the regular portion, and the owner's casual offer of upsizing is quite charming. The noodles arrived in 6-7 minutes. Despite being tsukemen, the noodles were thinner than expected, but they pleasantly surprised me with their chewiness. The balance of the salt dipping sauce was just right, with a mix of pork, chicken, and fish flavors. It's hard to pinpoint one dominating flavor, which I really liked.
There are many popular ramen shops out there, especially in the competitive area of Tenroku, Temma, and Nakazakicho, but truly delicious hidden gems like this one manage to survive without much fanfare. Since the owner runs the shop alone, it's easy to clean up your dishes once you finish eating. By the time I left around 14:00, the shop had already filled up again with customers. I stumbled upon this place by chance online, and it turned out to be a great find. Thank you for the meal!

I was rejected by Seishun Shokudo, so I went to a nearby restaurant. The exterior was a bit confusing as mentioned in the reviews, and I actually passed by it once. The restaurant was full, so I had to wait outside. The owner, who seemed a bit unfriendly, was running the place alone, but I could sense the charm of a great restaurant. One mysterious point is that although the ramen comes with a half boiled egg as standard, it is not mentioned in the toppings section, so most people end up ordering an extra boiled egg. The owner would ask each customer, "It comes with a half boiled egg, what would you like to do?" Another mysterious point is that the tsukemen can be served hot or cold, but it is not written on the menu and the owner confirms it verbally each time, causing unnecessary silent moments for all customers. Despite seeming a bit unfriendly, the owner was actually very polite at times, making it hard to tell which was the real personality. The tsukemen was priced at 750 yen, with options for regular or large portions, and the service was excellent. Personally, I felt the broth was a bit light and oily, but overall it was delicious! Thank you for the meal!
