On the third day of the Obon holiday, my wife wanted to go to Nitori at Nayoro Aeon in the morning, but we had some errands in the morning and headed to Nayoro City in the afternoon. We departed at 2:30 PM and arrived in Nayoro City after about 2 hours. We finished shopping at Aeon and decided to go to an izakaya we found on Tabelog, but it was closed for the Obon holiday. We thought about where else to go and the only place that came to mind was Tsubohachi, so we decided to go there around 5:10 PM. We took off our shoes at the entrance and were guided to a sunken kotatsu-style seating area at the back of the restaurant. We sat down, decided on our order from the menu, and ordered a large beer for ¥890. The food we ate included a Caesar salad with soft-boiled egg for ¥360, dried squid for ¥990, tender pork belly grilled meat for ¥990, and a skewer assortment with sauce for ¥850. The dishes were decent, with the pork belly being particularly delicious. For subsequent orders, we were given a QR code by the staff to scan with our smartphones to place our orders, which was a convenient system. The restaurant started to get busier with both reserved and walk-in customers as the evening went on. It seemed like there were not many restaurants open during the Obon holiday. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and drinks at Tsubohachi. Thank you for the delicious food!

This is a bit of an old story, but I visited Tsubohachi during a business trip to Nayoro in the middle of February. I actually went to another restaurant first, but it was a complete disaster! I won't go into details about that, but it still annoys me to think about it! (ヽ(`Д´)ﾉﾌﾟﾝﾌﾟﾝ) I decided to take a chance and go to Tsubohachi instead. I was seated in a private room. I wonder if all the rooms here are private? There was even a TV in the room. I started with a whisky highball, and the food I ordered was delicious. The staff were also very friendly, so I was in a good mood and ended up ordering a bottle of shochu. It's been a few years since I last stayed in Nayoro, so I was prepared to spend a bit more than usual. It's nice to try local restaurants when traveling, but it's better to go to a reliable place like Tsubohachi rather than risk a bad experience or an unexpectedly high bill.

If you're from Hokkaido, you have to visit Tsubohachi. The theme is wine and alcohol. The second night of my whirlwind business trip was in Nayoro. It was my first time in Nayoro, and it turned out to be a much livelier town than I expected. First thing after arriving in town, I checked out the local kitchen scene at Nishijo, the number one spot in town. The food section was bustling! They had a great selection of alcohol that caught my eye. Right across from Nishijo is the Tsubohachi Nayoro branch. From pork skewers to beer, Tsubohachi has been in business for 37 years. I started drinking alcohol when I entered university about 30 years ago, so I can say that I have walked alongside Tsubohachi for quite some time. The sashimi platter was delicious. The grilled beef tongue with onions was also a hit. The highlight of the day was the beautiful beef steak. It was much tastier than your average steakhouse, with a strong meaty flavor and a satisfying chew. To balance out all the meat, we had a daikon and dried squid salad. The dressing selection has expanded to six options. The asparagus and squid stir-fry was simple but delicious. We ended the meal with sushi, which was a great deal. Much better value than a mediocre sushi restaurant. Overall, Tsubohachi was a refreshing experience.

I thought it would be safe to go to Tsubohachi, but it was a bit disappointing. The fried food was burnt to a dark brown color and tasted so bad that it made my mouth hurt. The grilled food was undercooked and had a raw smell. The staff, who seemed to be university students or part-time workers, were friendly but the service was slow. I wonder if there was a shortage of kitchen staff. Despite feeling sorry for the young staff, I decided not to complain and left. It made me realize that even national chains can have different quality depending on the location. Other Tsubohachi restaurants are usually delicious, but this one was not so good.
