"Italian Restaurant Taku" in Asahikawa. I am dining alone. I have decided to refrain from using Tabelog for now. It's true, I am only half-hearted about it. I am not begging for forgiveness or being defiant. I am just making excuses. I come and go quickly like a hit-and-run, picking up what I can and then leaving promptly. I am still making excuses.
I am aiming for takeout. I tried one restaurant that offered takeout, and then attempted two more, but both declined. How about Taku? I decide to call. A woman answers, sounding hesitant. Perhaps she is a part-time worker or a daughter. "Can I get the risotto for takeout?" I ask. She replies clearly, "Yes." So, I order the "Risotto with special beef ragu." From this point on, the man takes over the conversation. "We couldn't get beef tendons, so we are using something else. Is that okay?" he asks. I reply, "Of course, that's fine." Both the hesitant young lady and the man were very pleasant.
I arrived a bit late but had informed them beforehand that I might be late. There was only one group of customers. It's really tough out here. It cost 900 yen. It should have been 1,000 yen with beef tendons. Was it because the meat was different? The owner I met was also very nice. I would have liked to try dinner here. The appearance seems expensive for 900 yen, but when served in a proper dish, it looks like a decent meal.
First, I had the unexpected... omurice. And it was... a bento. And on top of that, it was lunch without the means to reheat it. Couldn't have been worse timing. Eating risotto without reheating it is unimaginable. And of course, it's cold, so different flavors don't come out. Still, the spices were well balanced, the meat contributed to the flavor, and the oil wasn't overpowering, so even cold, it was fine. It was delicious. When I got home, there was still some left. This time, I will reheat it. I left plenty for my wife, but on late days, she doesn't eat much, and I can't stand it being turned into a bento. I reheated a bit more. The cheese didn't have a strong flavor, so it could have been a bit more aromatic. The rice wasn't sticky rice, but that's obvious. The seasoning was light, which I liked. The meat had a good presence with plenty of umami and depth. Well, it was indeed a delicious risotto.
