Kokoperi Curry... it's difficult to summarize the review of this restaurant... how should I put it? (Confused? Like a maze?) Maybe it's best to do thorough research before going to this place? Or maybe it's better to just go in without any expectations? Well, either way, once you step into this restaurant, you'll be drawn into the world of the owner (laughs). This time, I arrived at the front of the restaurant on Friday at 12:50. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of a mixed-use building, and you have to climb a narrow staircase to get there. When you open the door... huh!? No other customers? The interior of the restaurant, with only counter seats, seems like it used to be a bar that was renovated. Healing programs are playing on a large TV with low volume in the background. The owner has a strong and unique aura... (laughs) The male owner runs the place alone, and his distinctive atmosphere is intriguing, almost dangerously so (laughs). The owner asked, "Is this your first visit?" and when I answered, "Yes, it is my first time (blush)," he handed me a tablet... and I was forced to watch a TV feature about the restaurant that was aired before (laughs). After watching the tablet, it was time to order a drink... this time, I ordered a lassi. When asked, "Don't you want the 'famous dog'?"... I replied, "Just the regular is fine..." (laughs) Then, I was handed a smartphone and forced to watch the owner's preferences again (laughs). After watching that, I could finally order the curry. It's quite a hassle, but you can sense the deep love for curry when you enter this place. To get to this point, there must have been a lot of internal struggles... or maybe, to establish such a deep theory about curry, you have to go through a lot of trouble (laughs). When I ordered, I chose the "3 kinds of curry with 3 toppings for 2000 yen." The interior of the restaurant seems to have a no-photo policy for the menu, so I refrained from taking pictures. However, taking pictures of the served curry was allowed. The curry was served in about 15 minutes. The first impression... the presentation is beautiful, and the blue plate is nice. Moreover, there were thinly sliced vegetables placed around the edge of the plate... carrots, radishes, etc... a lot of effort was put into this... it's clear that the owner's philosophy of "curry is art" is true. The first bite of the curry... wow... this is amazing... an overwhelming umami flavor hits you! It's a light type of curry with a complex balance of spiciness, acidity, and sweetness... all blended together perfectly... it's really delicious! The lassi after the meal has a Calpis-like flavor... it goes well after eating curry. So, let me summarize the overall impression of Spice Curry below: 1. High-quality spice curry with no additives or Chinese ingredients... can such umami be achieved without chemical seasonings? I wonder... for a normal Japanese person living a regular life, it's quite difficult nowadays to avoid additives or Chinese ingredients... honestly, eating organic curry just once at Kokoperi Curry may not make much of a difference... but the taste of this one meal... it's truly delicious! I'm glad I came here to eat this curry! 2. The owner's passion is pushed onto you to an extreme extent (laughs)... it's rare to see a restaurant where the owner's passion is so clearly manifested... the owner has truly brought his vision to life... he's doing exactly what he wants... such unique and talented restaurants become famous hotspots... they're doing a really meticulous and great job. The owner of this place... seems to be living a life that others would envy (laughs).
