Day 4 of the trip. I decided to try a seafood bowl at Tomakomai Fish Market in Tomakomai. There were several restaurants offering seafood bowls, but this time I went to Uokin Shokudo. It is a restaurant that sells seafood and also serves seafood dishes. They had a customizable seafood bowl where you can choose your own toppings, but this time I ordered the Uokin seafood bowl. I was surprised by the overflowing amount of toppings on the bowl. I had to temporarily transfer some of the toppings to another plate. However, the variety and quantity of toppings made the seafood bowl very satisfying. The price was reasonable, and I highly recommend this seafood bowl. Of course, ordering vinegared rice with the bowl is the best choice. Tomakomai is known for sazae (turban shell), so I also ordered the sazae butteryaki. The unique texture of sazae was very good. Since Tomakomai Station is quite far, you will need a car or bus to get there. The bus service is limited, so it's recommended to check the schedule beforehand. I enjoyed delicious seafood and if I ever visit Tomakomai again, I would definitely like to have another seafood bowl.

Arriving in Tomakomai by ferry at 11 o'clock, this area near the port is a fierce battleground for seafood. With the upcoming 3-day weekend likely to attract many tourists, we decided to skip the popular Marumaru restaurant and choose this place instead. We were able to enter the restaurant quickly upon arrival. The menu was so extensive that it was hard to choose, but I went for the 4-kind seafood bowl while my wife chose the 3-kind bowl. Being a fan of scallops, I naturally selected those as well, as this area is the largest producer of scallops. The bowl arrived overflowing with this year's expensive sea urchin, wild yellowtail, and large scallops. We could also choose vinegared rice, which we did. Oh, the seafood bowl was incredibly delicious and hearty. This level of quality is truly Hokkaido! It was a completely different experience from what we usually eat. The miso soup that came with it was also delicious! It was a fitting dish for the first day of our trip, and when we looked back, we saw a long line forming at the entrance.

Took the 6am flight from Haneda to New Chitose. Hokkaido! It's cool and awesome here ✨ Went to the famous Marutoma but there was a long line of 15 people so I gave up. Found another nearby restaurant instead. It was also full by 9am but we were seated inside within 10 minutes. They had rice bowls, set meals, and clam curry on the menu. I chose a customizable seafood rice bowl with tuna, salmon, ikura, and sea urchin. You could choose between a small bowl and a regular bowl (amount of rice). Even the small bowl had slightly over one bowl of rice. The regular bowl is like 4 bowls of rice apparently haha The miso soup with salmon that came with it was surprisingly delicious! The cost performance was very good! Small bowl for 2300 yen, Clam curry regular for 1000 yen. Couldn't go to Marutoma but I was satisfied!

Arrived at 11:00 am on Saturday. Mr. Marutoma was super crowded with a long line... We also started at the entrance of the pylon in front of Uogane Shokudo. It was raining ☂️ and we ended up waiting for about 1.5 hours to enter the restaurant. The calculation is that each row of tables takes about 30 minutes. As we got closer to the entrance of the restaurant, the staff came to take our order. When ordering the Uogane seafood bowl in a large size, the staff asked if 1.5 kg was okay. Feeling unsure, one person ordered a regular size. Finally, we were able to enter the restaurant and take our seats. Tea and water are self-service. After a while, the seafood bowl was served on a tray! Wow! It's overflowing with toppings! The size of the toppings is the same for both regular and large sizes. The difference is in the size of the bowl of rice underneath. Let's dig in! The mackerel has large slices that are hard to eat in one bite. Even I needed two bites. There are 3 slices. The wasabi is also plentiful. At first, I thought there might be too much, but it turned out to be a bit lacking. Next, the red snapper? Not yellowtail, unfortunately, but it's firm and delicious ❤️ The vinegared rice is plentiful, and my mouth is happy. As I eat, I realize that if I don't think about the order in which to eat the toppings, I might not finish them all... So, I move on to the tuna. It's soft, easy to chew, and has a nice oiliness. It's almost like chu-toro. Delicious ❤️ Normally, in sushi, you would start with white fish, then move on to oily fish and gunkan, but here, all the fish have a nice oiliness that's amazing. Next up is the salmon! I'm on a roll at the belly part. I can make rice rolls with the toppings. My mouth is happy again. Oh no! The sweet shrimp is big, and the scallop is also large! A pickled ginger break, a refreshing moment for my mouth, and then on to the surf clam. It's delicious with no off-flavors. The sea bream is next. I make a rice roll and enjoy it. Delicious ❤️ The miso soup is also delicious ❤️ but I wish the bowl was a bit bigger. In the end, I managed to finish everything. If you're confident in your ability to eat a lot, give it a try. For normal people, maybe the sashimi set meal would be enough? Is it because there's no ikura that it's not enough?? I've never seen such large slices in a bowl before. Those who still feel the freshness in their mouth, it's a secret, but Shine Muscat grapes are being sold cheaply at the Platto market, so you can refresh your mouth on the way home in the car. Tomakomai has three top seafood restaurants - Marutoma, Uokin, and Minato, all popular spots with long lines. If you want a vinegar rice seafood bowl, Marutoma is not the place as they only offer regular rice bowls. However, they have daily specials like sashimi that are worth trying. While Minato has the top rating on Tabelog, it was less crowded compared to Marutoma and Uokin. I arrived early and chose the ¥1980 Jyusshoku seafood bowl at Uokin, which was packed with plenty of surf clams and even sea urchin. It was a feast on a plate! This was my last seafood bowl in Hokkaido, and it was a satisfying finale with its overflowing portions. Second visit. This is my favorite seafood bowl restaurant in Tomakomai, without even realizing it! It was around lunchtime on a weekday (around 1 pm), so I thought we would be able to get in quickly. But that hope was short-lived. There was a huge line! About 20 people were waiting. I didn't expect that at all! When I came before, they were sold out and I couldn't even line up, so this time I decided to wait. It was scorching hot, over 30 degrees that day, so I regretted not having a parasol. But there was a vending machine while waiting in line, so no need to worry about heatstroke. Phew. While waiting in line, I got excited looking at the menu. Isn't it fun to choose from 3 or 4 different types of toppings? I started to wonder what I had last time. This time, I ordered a scallop, salmon, and salmon roe bowl, a parent and child bowl with scallops added, just a simple bowl. But these three toppings are all my favorites! I waited for about an hour in the scorching sun, feeling quite used to it now, with the BGM of Kikuzo Yamakawa playing in the background, and finally entered the restaurant. They took our order just before entering, so we just had to wait at our table. Self-serve water. I chose vinegared rice. The bowl arrived in about 10 minutes! The salmon was so thick! The scallops were crispy... The salmon roe was popping in my mouth! Since I can't eat wasabi, I pour soy sauce directly, and there was a mountain of soy sauce overflowing on top. Can you feel it? Can you imagine it? It's the taste of Hokkaido, and I was completely satisfied. But unlike last time, the rice was a bit hard this time... I was so focused on the fish at first that I didn't notice, but it bothered me later. The portion was so big that I couldn't finish it in the end. I'll try to finish it next time! Located near the Minato Market at the Umi no Eki in Tomakomai. You can enjoy a seafood bowl at a reasonable price. The "Four Kinds of Seafood Bowl" includes surf clam, sea urchin, crab, and scallop, served with crab soup. We also tried the tuna and shellfish as individual items. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Wow, this is amazing!! We arrived at 11 and there were about 7 groups waiting. We were able to eat in about an hour. The Fish King seafood bowl was 1980 yen. Before reaching the rice, you have to eat a huge sashimi haha. It was the best with Aomori-produced bluefin tuna and seasonal live scallops.

I visited on a regular day but it quickly became full. The staff's service was excellent. I had the seafood bowl in the port town, which had great value for money. However, there seemed to be a bit less surf clam. Overall, I would definitely come back to this restaurant! Please keep up the good deals and customer service :)

I arrived at around 9:30 in the morning. I was told that the port town seafood bowl comes with 400g of rice, but I insisted on keeping it that way, haha. And when in Tomakomai, you have to try the Hokkyoku Curry. The miso soup with plenty of shrimp was delicious, and my friend and I devoured everything. Thank you for the meal!

I visited this restaurant with the intention of eating Hokkigai curry, but unfortunately it was sold out. The other nearby restaurants were closed, so I decided to have a seafood bowl instead. I ordered the Uokin seafood bowl for 1,760 yen with sushi rice. The seafood bowl had 8 different types of seafood toppings, which were large and thick, overflowing from the bowl, making it visually impressive. However, the taste did not leave a strong impression, except for the delicious Hokkigai, a specialty of Tomakomai.

I came here because I wanted to eat seafood bowl when I came to Hokkaido. It was around 10 am on a weekday, and it was raining, so I lined up outside. There were only about 5 groups of customers inside, but the tables were large, so it felt like a waste of space for groups of 2 people. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I was seated. I ordered a seafood bowl with 4 types of seafood, and I added some pickled mackerel for about 550 yen. The pickled mackerel was homemade and very delicious. The seafood bowl was also very tasty. I chose a small serving of rice, but it was actually quite a lot. You can choose between white rice and vinegared rice. I think it's slightly cheaper to eat here compared to Sapporo. It was delicious.

My first choice was Marutoma Shokudo, but it was quite crowded so we gave up and came here instead. There were about 10 customers ahead of us, so we waited in line. I was surprised by the loud background music of Yoshikazu Ikuzo when we entered the restaurant. Before we even sat down, our order was taken and soon brought to our table. I had the Fish Kin Don and my husband had the Shellfish Don, which included raw and boiled surf clams, scallops, and maybe whitebait. My Fish Kin Don had thick slices of tuna, salmon, and other fish! We asked for less rice and both got vinegared rice. I think Marutoma Shokudo didn't have vinegared rice, right? Vinegared rice is great! The sashimi was delicious and it was a great meal. We were saying that if we had to wait over an hour at Marutoma, then coming here was a better choice. The table seating was also quite spacious.

The portion size was overwhelming when I ordered the large serving. Even the regular size had a substantial amount of food. The fatty richness of the salmon and chu-toro was outstanding. It cost over 3000 yen, but it was worth it. Strangely, they are still implementing unnecessary entrance restrictions due to COVID-19, which occasionally affects the turnover rate. The seafood topping is thick and satisfying. However, it might be better if it was a little thinner to go well with the rice. The sashimi rice bowl from Hokkaido offers a variety of ingredients such as salmon, crab, and spot prawn, all of high freshness and packed with rich flavor. Each ingredient was satisfying and delicious, making you want to come back for more. The only thing to mention is that the warm vinegar rice slightly warmed up the sashimi, reducing the taste a bit, so it would be better if the rice was a bit cooler. On a day off, I drove to Tomakomai. I arrived around 11:30 and waited about 1 hour to get inside the restaurant. This time, I chose the "Uokin sashimi set meal" just like my first visit. My wife, who loves shellfish, ordered the "Shellfish Bowl". As usual, the servings were generous, although it took a bit of time for the food to be served. The sashimi selection varies depending on the day, but Hokki shellfish always seems to be included. This time, there was a mysterious fish included as well. It would be nice if they could provide a list of the sashimi contents.

Visited the famous restaurant Fish Kin Shokudo near by. We were able to enter without much wait this time, but it's still a popular spot so be prepared to line up outside. We sat down and ordered, I had the sashimi set and my wife had the Hokkai don. After a short wait, our dishes arrived. The portions were huge. Our friends who came with us ordered the sashimi don and the Hokkai curry. The Hokkai curry also had a massive amount. We are all full now.

The seafood restaurant in the fishing port serves fresh dishes. I ordered the "Selfish" seafood bowl with a regular portion, choosing from about 8 types of seafood. I selected shrimp, scallop, and sea urchin, but they also offer other Hokkaido specialties like octopus and crab. Even though I eat a lot, the regular portion was enough for me. They also offer a small portion for those with smaller appetites. The miso soup that comes with the meal, made with shrimp, is delicious. It seems to change daily, so it's worth checking when you visit. At 2000 yen (excluding tax), I think it's a good deal.

We went to Uokin Shokudo in Tomakomai on our way back from a family trip because we wanted to eat seafood bowl. Even on a weekday after 1 pm, there was a line outside... We waited for about an hour, with a light rain falling and a cool breeze from the nearby sea making it a bit chilly. Finally, we got inside, but it was a bit slow as they were taking COVID-19 precautions. However, we were glad to be able to enjoy the limited 30 servings per day hokki and seafood bowl that was advertised on Jalan. The vinegared rice was delicious, the hokki was tender, and all the ingredients were fresh! Even though I'm not a big rice eater, I finished everything! It was really delicious!
