On the second day of our trip to Hokkaido, we left Hakodate and headed to Yoichi, but before that!! We stopped by at the Onuma National Park. The weather was perfect with clear skies. The guide on the sightseeing boat kept saying, "You rarely get to see Mt. Komagatake in such a magnificent way." The scenery was truly breathtaking. Especially this year, Hokkaido has been hit hard by bad weather, causing significant damage, so his words carried weight. The damage from the typhoon in the southern part of the island wasn't as severe, but there were fallen trees here and there... They are also worried about the impact on the ecosystem. The guide recommended, "It's hot today, so why not have some ramune," so we bought some from the shop on our way back.
Location:
Onuma Park, Shichinohe-cho, Hokkaido
About 20 km, 30 minutes from Hakodate
There is also a JR Onuma Park Station, so it's a convenient location.
Enjoying Onuma Park:
In the summer, you can enjoy the great outdoors with sightseeing boats and cruisers. In the winter, you can have fun with ice bikes and smelt fishing. There are also various outdoor experiences and craft classes available.
Ramune:
Among the 9 varieties available, the guide recommended the "Kantaka Ramune" from Shikotsu Town, which had a shiso flavor... I was a bit hesitant, so I went for the "Red Shigeki" for 150 yen, which had strawberry juice from Toyora and refreshing taste. The naming was intriguing, but it didn't quite meet my expectations (laughs). It was described as a ramune created by the strawberries from Toyora and the mineral water from the spring water in Tomakomai. Full of playfulness, when enjoyed in the magnificent scenery of nature, everything tastes delicious ♡ *My family chose the Blue Hawaii flavor.

On May 9, 2016, I went on a tour with Yomiuri Travel to Hokkaido with my mother, taking the Hokkaido Shinkansen to Hakodate. On the first day, we went to Onuma Park on a bus tour from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station. We had lunch at a restaurant there as a group. The menu included soy milk hot pot, salmon roe bowl, assorted sashimi, crab bowl, crab claw cream croquette, spring rolls, salmon, and simmered dish in a fried tofu pouch. Everything was delicious, although it seemed like a pre-packaged bento for tour groups. The main highlight was cherry blossom viewing at Onuma Park, where the cherry blossoms were still in bloom and the air was clean and refreshing. There were many other tour groups apart from Yomiuri Travel, and I was impressed by how this restaurant was a popular choice for tours.

On August 28, 2013, I visited Onuma as a tourist and had lunch there. I wasn't very hungry, so I had a beer. My companion had salt ramen, and my child had a kids' curry. The soup of the salt ramen was clear and tasted good, possibly from Hakodate nearby. The kids' curry had a lot of rice for something called "kids' size." Other than that, there were slightly cold french fries, jelly, orange juice, and a toy car included. This restaurant was a typical one often found in tourist spots, with a gift shop on the first floor and a restaurant on the second floor.
