On July 2nd, I visited "Choi Oden Shinjuku Sohonten," a newly opened upscale oden restaurant in Shinjuku! The interior has a modern, casual vibe, featuring a U-shaped counter table in the center, as well as seating suitable for groups, making it quite practical. The menu is diverse, and I was particularly surprised by the variety of oden that pairs perfectly with seasonal local sake. In addition to classic oden, they offer unique options like meat oden, croquettes, garlic toast, and kaiware peppers—dishes I've never seen before! Although there are several other locations, each restaurant has its own characteristics, and here there’s also a live seafood tank, allowing for fresh seafood to be taken straight from the tank and prepared right there, even served as sashimi! It was incredibly fresh and really exciting! The oden I ordered had fresh and tender ingredients, and the broth was deeply flavorful, which made me very satisfied. The service was friendly, with staff members paying close attention to details. I felt the prices were reasonable, offering great value for the quality. If you're looking to enjoy oden in Shinjuku, this is definitely a place I'd love to visit again!

I finally visited a restaurant I had been curious about! ⊂((・x・))⊃♡ I ordered the anko liver with ponzu (350 yen), oden (daikon and pink ginger tempura), and a draft beer. _φ(・_・) Everything was delicious, and there were so many intriguing menu items... I will definitely come back again! (*・ω・)ノ

I had a craving for oden, so I went with a friend. The oden had a lighter flavor, which I prefer a bit stronger. However, all the other side dishes were delicious overall, and we managed to eat and drink for under 5000 yen per person, making it a great value. I will definitely return!

I visited this restaurant with friends for a second round on a Friday night. We made a reservation on Tabelog during our first round and managed to get a counter seat! The atmosphere in the restaurant was lively but not too noisy, which created a pleasant vibe. The oden and drinks were delicious, with a well-balanced flavor rooted in Japanese cuisine and rich in dashi. The staff provided attentive service, and I definitely want to return. Oden is simply the best during the cold season!

I visited the restaurant around 7 PM on a Sunday. The place was mostly filled with customers and had a lively atmosphere. One notable feature was the low prices. The flavor of the oden was quite light, and personally, I prefer it to be a bit stronger. I sat at the counter, and the staff were friendly and fun, which made the experience enjoyable.

It was a bit chilly that day, and I was craving oden! While walking, I spotted an oden sign, which drew me in for a visit (^_^) Since it was my second stop, I kept it light and ordered beef tongue, soft bone soki, and tamagoyaki. I was amazed to learn that they use high-quality fish, specially hamo, for their broth, making it incredibly delicious! I could drink it endlessly! Each oden item seemed to have a subtly different broth depending on the case it was in; the tamagoyaki had a slightly sweet broth that was delightful, allowing me to enjoy the distinct flavors of both the tamagoyaki and beef tongue just from sipping the broth (^_^) The warm, sweet, and fluffy tamagoyaki is highly recommended! They also had a variety of seasonings and provided tips on what goes well with each dish, which was nice. I heard there might be a menu item called "oden gags"? Haha! The atmosphere of the staff was great, and I definitely want to revisit this place (^_^) Next time, I plan to eat heartily at my first stop!

The atmosphere inside the restaurant was lively and vibrant! The tap in the restroom was very unique and made me feel joyful. I ordered a dashi-wari, and it was the most delicious one I've ever had. I find myself reminiscing about wanting to go back just to enjoy that dashi-wari again.

We visited this place for a gathering with friends, and since it's getting colder, we wanted to eat oden. It was not only affordable and delicious, but the atmosphere was lively as well. They had a wide variety of sours, and the presentation was great. The famous key curry was incredibly delicious!

This is my second visit. I used the restaurant for a farewell party at work, but this time it was quite crowded due to being featured on TV. As a result, it took a long time to get drinks, and there were often dishes that we hadn't ordered that came to our table, which was disappointing. I believe it was just a one-time occurrence, as the service is usually quick. The staff are friendly, and the food is delicious, so I would like to visit again.

It was a bit of a walk from Shinjuku Station, but the place was very lively. Even though it was a Wednesday, the restaurant was fully packed, and I ended up sitting at the counter. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were attentive. The oden and other menu items were plentiful and incredibly delicious!

It's the season for oden, and I experienced a cozy, affordable place serving delicious oden that's full of flavor. The atmosphere was lively, really capturing the essence of autumn. The hanpen okonomiyaki was surprisingly tasty! It felt like a charming local tavern with great small dishes. The menu was stylish, the prices were reasonable, and every dish was spot on. Overall, it was a fantastic oden restaurant.

The restaurant was newly opened, so it was spacious and very clean. I was surprised by the price after being able to eat everything I wanted. As it gets colder, I would like to find the time to go by myself. The oden had some unique options, and the seasonal pumpkin was particularly delicious. The staff were very friendly and chatted with me, making for a wonderful experience.

The oden broth made from eel dashi is accompanied by a variety of unique items such as shumai, Iberico pork, and croquettes. They even have garlic toast! These dishes can definitely stand alone as oden ingredients. The fish paste products that absorb the eel dashi particularly well come highly recommended. The drink options are also reasonably priced. It's rare to find a place that offers an all-you-can-drink option including Hoppy. The main store in Kodenmachō is small, but this location has a decent capacity. While it seems like the staff might be a bit understaffed, both the taste and price are very satisfying.

I visited a restaurant that I've been curious about for a while. Inside, there was a lively atmosphere with both counter and table seating. I ordered daikon and egg, and the portions were quite generous, making it feel like a good deal. It was very delicious. Though the restaurant is named after oden, there is a wide variety of appetizers and rice dishes on the menu. I also ordered a tea-based cocktail, and the staff prepared it with a performance that was enjoyable to watch. I'm moving a bit further away soon, but I definitely want to visit this place again.

The oden here is delicious. There aren't many sweet sour drinks, but it's definitely worth visiting just for the oden. All the other dishes are tasty too. It's nice that it's not crowded, even in Shinjuku. There are no time limits as long as it's not busy, which is really great.

I used the restaurant for about an hour without a reservation, but they were able to seat me at the counter right away. The prices on the menu are quite reasonable, and the food is delicious! Summer oden is surprisingly great! Personally, I thought the oiliness of the shime saba (mackerel) was excellent. Next time, I’d like to take my time and enjoy it more. Thank you for the meal!

On Friday at 6:30 PM, I thought, "Well, it should be fine," and headed to Shinjuku West Exit without a reservation. When I arrived, I found both the counter and tables marked as “Reserved.” Thankfully, I was spotted by my acquaintance from the small shop in Kodemmacho that had supported me, and I was able to squeeze in for an hour before their 7:30 PM reservation. It seems that even on weekdays, they’re getting a lot of reservations, making it difficult to just walk in. I quickly ordered, ate, and drank, settling the bill by 7:20 PM and making my exit. I’ll come back again to enjoy a more leisurely visit!

I visited this restaurant after a long time. They offer a lot of unique ingredients for their oden, making it a fun experience. Besides oden, the menu is diverse and accommodates even on hot days. It's very cost-effective, so although there's a two-hour limit, that's quite common in Shinjuku. The menu has a playful touch, which adds to the enjoyment; even the faucet in the restroom is designed like oden (laughs). When the place is full, it gets quite lively. It's a reasonable distance from the west exit of Shinjuku Station, and it's easy to find, making it a great spot for group meet-ups. I look forward to visiting again.

Choi Oden Shinjuku Honten is an oden restaurant located about a 5-minute walk from the West Exit of Shinjuku, hidden in a back alley. The prices for each piece of oden are affordable, and the flavors are well-infused, making it a great value for money. I tried the deep-fried shumai for the first time, and it was surprisingly delicious—crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I ordered a Hoppy to drink, and the staff were very generous with the amount of shochu they added. If you're in Shinjuku and craving oden, definitely check out Choi Oden!

I visited Choi Oden, located about a three-minute walk from Seibu Shinjuku! It’s an oden bar where you can enjoy the "Ultimate Hamo Dashi Oden." They have a great selection of all-you-can-drink menus and courses! You can savor the classic oden simmered in the ultimate hamo dashi that doesn’t use soy sauce, as well as popular meat oden and a variety of unique and special oden dishes. I was a bit overwhelmed by the options, but in the end, I ordered everything on the menu. Haha! The chilled bottles contain sour drinks made with seasonal fruits, and there’s also a green tea highball developed specifically for Choi Oden, so be sure to try those!

My partner and I have different days off due to our jobs, but during my Obon vacation, we decided to go out for a drink. While searching for a place in the Nishishinjuku area, I came across a little oden shop called "Choi Oden." After quenching my thirst from the hot summer with a draft beer, I chose some classic oden items: daikon radish, a boiled egg, and spicy ginger tempura. I also ordered their potato salad loaded with eggs. From their specialty oden menu, I requested the Kujo green onion pouch served separately. "Choi Oden" uses an unusual broth made with eel, which has a rich yet refreshing flavor that was unlike anything I had ever tasted. They also offered sashimi, so we enjoyed the specialty! Squid sashimi direkt from the Japan Sea served with liver soy sauce, along with salmon sashimi. The price for the squid was truly miraculous given its quality! We also tried the oden with a twist, featuring a coriander-infused eel curry broth, which included squid menchi (a minced squid patty). As we were nearing the end of our meal, we finished with butter-seared chicken neck and a selection of five sushi pieces. For sake, I enjoyed "Shirakawa" from Fukushima Prefecture. Now that I’m familiar with "Choi Oden,’ I’m eager to explore more of their offerings. I've fallen in love with their eel broth, so I look forward to becoming a regular customer!
