Yes, I found out that there is a branch of Shima-ya at Hankyu Department Store Umeda! I only found out later, haha (sadness). I always thought it was only in Abeno... oh well!! This is the main store of Shima-ya, and I wanted to try it while I was in Abeno. The shop is relatively easy to access in a shopping street, and it is easy to find. It's a small shop, but there are usually a few people lining up, so you'll know when you see it. The specialty here is definitely the Daigaku Imo, which is sweet potato coated in syrup or sugar and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Honestly... I don't really like it!! I don't feel the need to eat it!! But when you think of Shima-ya, you think of Daigaku Imo. Is it really that good? That's why I decided to visit. The menu only has about three items, all of which are sweet potatoes. Besides Daigaku Imo, there are other options, but this time I had to try the Daigaku Imo!! I ordered a souvenir to take away and was told, "Sorry, it will take about 10 minutes." Oh, really, it must be popular. That's fine, I'll wait. While waiting, I saw some cup-sized items that you can eat on the spot. I asked, "Are these available immediately?" The staff said, "They are pre-made, but if that's okay with you." Okay, I'll have one. So, I bought it. It was a sweet potato in a cup, slightly larger and thicker than an adult's index finger, like a fried potato. Let's try it!! <・~・> This... is elegant!! It's not the typical overly sweet taste of Daigaku Imo, but rather something close to syrup. And the quality of the sweet potato is high. I think the staff at the shop considered this size and thickness to be just right. The gentle sweetness and the flavor of the sweet potato spread throughout my mouth. A small happiness... yes, delicious. This will definitely become popular. The one I took home is the one where you pour the syrup yourself. There's no sesame seeds on this one. But even without sesame seeds, it's plenty delicious. Well, I plan to buy it at Hankyu Umeda next time, but for now, it was a great experience. Abeno Potato, thank you for the meal!! <≧▽≦>
