I finally visited the chain dim sum restaurant, 京鼎樓, which has locations everywhere. Surprisingly, it was my first time there. After having a big breakfast, I wasn't hungry at all until lunch, but as the afternoon passed, I decided to eat something. The gourmet street in Shin-Yokohama has a variety of restaurants lined up. Based on my research, the "Full Belly Set" at 京鼎樓 seemed to have good value for money. Since it was a somewhat odd time, I could enter without waiting. "Please call me when you're ready to order!" "Oh, I’m ready!" I ordered the Full Belly Set with dan dan noodles and mapo rice right away, and it arrived quickly. The rich dan dan noodles, which are a specialty, looked extremely thick and flavorful. I took a sip of the soup, and surprisingly, it wasn't as spicy as it looked; instead, the strong flavors of sesame and peanuts spread across my palate. This was delicious. I took a bite of the mapo rice, and just as its appearance suggested, it had an authentic taste with a numbing sensation from the peppercorns. This was also very tasty. The portion was satisfying as well. True to its name, I felt completely full. All of this for 1,050 yen including tax—it's a great deal for a salaryman eating out. After overindulging for breakfast and lunch, I, of course, couldn't eat anything for dinner.
