Today is a holiday. I wandered around the neighborhood, becoming a lunch refugee. I headed west on Minami Kuhojicho Street towards Shinsaibashi. I arrived at Menya Raifuryu, located at the intersection with Sankyubashi-suji. It's a highly rated restaurant on Tabelog. The shop has only 8 counter seats. As a few customers left, I entered and sat between a couple and a female customer. I checked the menu first. They offer soy sauce and salt ramen, curry ramen, and special versions of each. They also have gyoza set meals, which can be ordered as a half portion. I decided to go for the curry ramen and a half gyoza set. After a bit of a wait, the curry ramen arrived. As I was taking photos, the half gyoza set was also served. Let's dig in. First, the ramen. The dark brown soup with a layer of oil on top. The noodles were neatly arranged in the soup, topped with minced meat, thinly sliced onions, spinach, and three simple slices of chashu. The gyoza were about the size of frozen ones. The rice portion was generous. I started with the soup. It had a solid curry flavor, just as I expected from the menu. Both the curry and the ramen were delicious, a safe choice if you like both. The noodles were medium thickness and had a nice texture. I tried the minced meat with the ramen, followed by a bite of spinach, and then a sip of the soup. Everything was well-balanced. Moving on to the gyoza, they were a bit small but had a perfect balance of vegetables and meat. They were tasty, especially with the shiny rice. I finished with the curry soup, noodles, and enjoyed the ramen toppings. By the last bite, I was pleasantly full, thanks to the portion size or my age. Despite that, I managed to finish everything. It was a satisfying curry ramen lunch. Thank you for the meal.
