Dinner time at Oden restaurant "Hanakujira Honten" in Fukushima Ward. Normally, we go to the clean and spacious "Aru-ten" restaurant, but tonight, in response to my junior Y-chan's request to experience the atmosphere of a street stall Oden, we decided to come here. The restaurant opens at 4:00 pm. We arrived at 5:00 pm and waited in line for about 30 minutes before entering. The cozy interior has a counter with a large Oden pot in the center that can seat about 10 people, as well as foldable table seats in front of vinyl curtains for wind protection. We started with a toast with bottled beer. We ordered Oden: Daikon x3, Konnyaku, Negi-bukuro x3, Tsukune x3, Tofu x3, Tamago, Shiitake, Negima x3, Cheese Roll Cabbage x3, Kaiware, Ebi Gyoza x3, Hotate Kai, Hanakujira, Yuzu Daikon, Chanja, Kiriboshi Daikon Kimchi, Tako Su. For drinks, we had bottled beer, hot sake, Herb-sized red wine, and Herb-sized white wine. The Daikon with a refreshing taste, Tofu, Negi-bukuro with plenty of green onions, Tsukune with a chewy texture, Negima with tuna and green onions on skewers, and the cheese-filled cabbage roll were all delicious. The Kaiware, soaked in Oden broth after ordering, was a perfect palate cleanser or accompaniment to alcohol. The Oden with its gentle flavors was excellent. The "Hanakujira" Oden, served in a tin cup, was a perfect match for a hot sake. Y-chan was satisfied with the street stall atmosphere, and we enjoyed a delicious and fun evening. It's been a while since I visited this popular restaurant, but while drinking at another place, we suddenly decided to go to "Hanakujira" and managed to get in smoothly despite a few groups waiting outside. We ordered daikon hanpen, negi-bukuro tako, atsuage, suji tamago, hira ten, and konnyaku, and as expected, everything was delicious as always. The dishes are simple but incredibly tasty. The place is still small, but that's part of its charm. I think from now on, I'll choose to drink in Fukushima rather than in Kita-Shinchi.

I visited this Oden restaurant right before their last order time on a weekday night. They were able to seat me right away without having to wait in line. I had been curious about this place for a while and was not disappointed. Even though some menu items were sold out due to the late hour, I was very satisfied with everything I tried. Every dish was delicious, and the Oden broth was especially amazing. I could have easily drunk several bottles of beer just with the broth alone. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

The popular oden restaurant "Hanakujira" is still thriving! I was introduced to this place by an older man when I was a college student, and I had my first experience with oden. The restaurant has not changed, and you can still enjoy their delicious shundao oden regardless of the season. It's a small counter-only shop where you can quickly eat and leave. When we visited, it was quite hot, so it was relatively empty. The ordering system involves writing your choices on a prepared paper. We ordered daikon, daikon leaves, tofu, tendon, negi bag, enoki mushrooms, saezuri (bird whistle), and egg with spring onions. The daikon and egg were flavorful with a hint of spice from shichimi pepper. The tofu was very comforting in the broth, and the enoki mushrooms were full of umami flavor. The negi bag, which I can never skip, was also filled with plenty of spring onions. The summer-exclusive hamo had a soft texture and a nice balance of umeboshi and broth, which was delightful. I definitely want to eat this again! I tried daikon leaves and spring onions for the first time. They added a mature touch to the dish with the bitterness of the spring onions and the creaminess of the tororo (grated yam). The daikon leaves lost their spiciness when cooked and were light and enjoyable in the broth. I actually wanted to try the korokke, but it was sold out, so I had the saezuri instead. It was so tender and braised that it disappeared in an instant—I wanted more! The summer oden was surprisingly good! I want to eat hamo again, which is only available in summer.

Fukushima night, second stop! We went to Hanakujira Honten, an oden restaurant. There was a long line outside, but we waited for about 20 minutes on the bench and finally got in. We started with bottled beer and finished with hot sake. We tried the classic daikon and octopus oden, as well as some unique options like rolled cabbage and shungiku. Everything was delicious! Even in the heat, I now understand why people in Osaka still crave oden.

It has gotten quite hot, so I decided to visit and there was a wait for 3 people. I was able to enter after about 15 minutes, which is much better compared to winter. I calmed my throat with beer and sashimi, then had chilled sake with daikon, egg, green onion, grilled leeks, and seasonal conger eel. It was delicious as always. I will definitely be revisiting!

I went to the famous restaurant Hanakujira Flatto and found a seat. It had been a while since I last visited, but I love the atmosphere here. The taste seems to have become a bit richer compared to the past, but it still maintains its deliciousness and affordability. I don't know of any oden that offers better value than this place. The spring cabbage is truly the best. I want to go back again.

In the summer, I tried oden for the first time. It was delicious! A friend from Osaka took me to a place where the oden was simmering and smelled so good. We started with beer and whale bacon. Whale bacon!? It was my first time trying it, but it was the perfect appetizer. In Kansai-style oden, there is always octopus and beef tendon, which I love. I also tried raw wheat gluten and chrysanthemum for the first time. The chrysanthemum in the oden had grated yam on top and was delicious. I ended up eating quite a bit while enjoying some sake.

I always gave up going to this oden shop because of the long line. But this time, on a Wednesday night, we were able to get in right away without waiting. Everything was delicious, but the oden with pouches had a rich flavor that really brought out the essence of oden! We ate a lot and it only cost a little over 2000 yen for two people! Such great value for money!

Thinking that it wouldn't be too crowded at this time of year, we visited Hanakujira Honten. The address of Hanakujira Honten is 2-8-2 Fukushima, Fukushima-ku, Osaka City, a 3-minute walk from JR Tozai Line "Shin-Fukushima" Station. There is a walk store nearby. Depending on the capacity of the store, the walk-in store may have a longer line, so it's better to consider the amount of waiting and the number of people! Reservations are available for groups of 6 or more, up to about 12 people, so it is recommended to make a reservation if you have a group. We arrived at the store around 6:30 pm. Business hours are 16:00-23:00 (L.O 22:30), closed at the end of the year and in mid-August (details will be announced at the store or on the website). There was no waiting outside at that time! The inside of the store was full, so we had to wait a bit. When our turn came, we disinfected both hands with the alcohol disinfectant at the entrance of the store and got permission to take photos before seating at the counter. We ordered by writing on a piece of paper with a pen and handing it to the staff. There were screens with paper and pens like this. First, we ordered bottled beer! My wife wrote down what she wanted to eat. Hanakujira is a place where you write down your order on paper. The prices are indicated for items over 500 yen, but the rest is unclear (^_^;) Even if you eat and drink to your heart's content, the prices are reasonable! The store is open all year round and seasonal items include bamboo shoots (spring), conger eel (summer), and harimaki roll (winter). There are several oden pots in the store, and they serve the ordered items one by one, adding ingredients as they go. There are no table condiments for flavoring. Mustard is served in a separate dish. After a short wait, the dishes arrived in order. Let's eat! The number one recommended item is the cheese roll cabbage, starting from the UFO! Dip it generously in mustard! The ingredients for Hanakujira's cheese roll cabbage are only cheese! The cabbage soaked in broth and the melty cheese are incredibly delicious! The broth is rich, and after finishing the ingredients, I drink it all up! I always think I want to buy just the broth. Imagine having ojiya with this broth. Don't stack the plates as the staff will put the next ingredients in the empty plate for you. The spinach is lightly dipped in oden broth with grated yam on top. The broth and the flavors of the spinach and grated yam are amazing! The conger eel comes with mustard miso, and the fried tofu comes with sweet miso. It's nice to have these options as oden can get monotonous. Another recommended item is the onion bag! It's filled with yuba, green onions, and fried tofu, and it's super delicious! The green onion and tuna in Hanakujira's negima are amazing! The tuna soaked in broth is also delicious! When the ordered items are served, the staff will let you know. For the finale, we ordered cheese roll cabbage and kaiware! It was a complete satisfaction! After eating and drinking (I had 3 beers), it cost around 3,000 yen per person! After settling the bill, we thanked everyone at Hanakujira Honten and left the store. Husband: Thank you for the meal! It was delicious! I will come again! Thank you for reading until the end. I arrived at the shop around 6:30 PM and waited for about 15 minutes to be seated. The main shop has a counter and a second floor, so it seems better for small groups. The drinks range from 400 to 900 yen, and the oden is priced from 100 to 300 yen, making it very affordable and delicious! The leek dumplings were so tasty that I was at a loss for words! Next time, I want to enjoy them while drinking hot sake in the cold winter.

Recommended by a friend from Osaka, I visited for the first time. It was my first time entering a restaurant in Osaka with a street food-like atmosphere. And it was oden. I ordered daikon, egg, tsukune, nama-fu, koro, saezuri, gobou tempura, shungiku, negi-maki, itokonni changa, kimchi of kiriboshi daikon, and hanakujira. Also, a medium bottle of beer and two glasses of shochu. There was a rule to leave within 90 minutes. The total bill for two people was 8100 yen. The broth was delicious and the oden was tasty. Be careful not to overeat!

The number of seats is very limited, but the taste is delicious! The prices are also reasonable, and they add special touches like sprinkling shichimi or putting tororo on the oden. Visited this restaurant as the second stop for Fukushima drinking. Arrived after 7pm and there was a line, but since we were somewhat full from the first place, we decided to wait. Surprisingly, we were able to get in quickly while chatting. We ordered two of each item for oden: daikon radish, egg, wiener sausage, beef tendon, and a bottle of beer. The broth was rich and delicious, definitely worth the wait. And the best part was the cost performance, we were shocked to only pay around 2000 yen for two people. This place is a must-visit for Fukushima drinking from now on.

At 3:49 on a weekday, a couple (2 people) visited the restaurant for the second time. The smell of bonito was drifting outside the shop. At exactly 4:00, they opened. The daikon and shichimi spice were flavorful. The egg was fresh, and the meat was tender. The tendon soaked up the broth well. Except for the shrimp dumplings, everything arrived promptly. They served Asahi Super Dry beer in bottles. There were two staff members, one male and one female, and the service was better than the last time. The mustard was served separately, even though they didn't use it. The person next to them was told that the bamboo shoots were sold out. It's a shame that there were no seasonal items available. They had hirousu, and the broth was stronger than the last time they visited. The broth tasted better before. They enjoyed the meal. Thank you.

It's always crowded in the winter, but during this time when it's a bit warmer but still chilly in the mornings and evenings, you can usually get in without much of a wait. The prices of drinks and appetizers were clearly displayed, but the price of oden was nowhere to be found. I sat near the sink and was on edge throughout the meal, worried about water droplets splashing onto my food. In the end, only one drop landed on my plate, so it wasn't a big issue. The restaurant itself was in an old building, but it was well-maintained and clean. The kitchen was spotless, with staff promptly clearing empty plates. However, they also cleared plates with food still on them before we could say anything. We arrived around 5 pm and there were about 5 groups waiting in line. If we hadn't sat near the sink, I might have given this place 3 stars. Overall, I didn't feel it was worth the wait. It might be a good choice for those who want to experience a traditional old-fashioned restaurant.

My first time at Hanakujira. The rumors were true - the oden was very delicate and delicious. The broth was so tasty and just to my liking, so I've decided to visit again. I was lucky to be able to get in without waiting in line. It was just before 6 pm on Thursday, so there was not much of a line behind us, and we were able to enjoy our meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Among the many dishes we tried, the octopus, daikon radish, bamboo shoots, and yuba were particularly delicious! The octopus, in particular, got me excited just by looking at it! The drink menu was not very extensive, so as someone who can't drink beer or sake, I ended up choosing a Smirnoff Ice. We ate a lot and the total bill for three people was less than 6000 yen, so we were very satisfied with both the taste and the price. (We only ordered one drink each, so I think the price would go up for those who drink more.)

Around 6 pm on a weekday. It was raining, so I thought there wouldn't be a line!! I arrived and there was only one group ahead of me. We were able to enter in about 5 minutes. I ordered a bottle of beer (Kirin) for 500 yen. For ordering oden, you write it down on a piece of paper. Since there are no prices listed, it can be nerve-wracking, but it turned out fine. In the end, I ate 13 different items (ate too much) and it only cost me 4000 yen with change back. They had Kansai specialties like whale tongue, chirping (sounds of birds), and seasonal bamboo shoots. My personal must-haves here are the leek bag and spring chrysanthemum!! Ah, the broth is so delicious, I drank too much. I really want to mix this broth with sake and drink it...! The oden here, with its delicious broth, was just to my liking. Thank you for the meal.
