The small counter-style restaurant was perfect for a casual drink during the day, and the staff were friendly to solo diners. This place is now one of my favorite spots in Sapporo, and I will definitely be going back.

Sapporo Odori, Nijo Market area. The famous 5-tsubo Umi Raifu-ya, known for daytime drinking, has started opening from 8 am starting in June! However, they plan to switch to opening at 10 am from July. Even so, it is still possible to drink in the morning. I happened to find out about this place, but since I came by car, I couldn't drink alcohol. I confirmed with the staff if it was okay to visit without ordering a drink, and they kindly agreed, so I visited. The small shop has only an L-shaped counter. "You can also bring in your own items for an additional fee of 500 yen, so you can eat what you bought at Nijo Market while drinking inside the shop!" A place that can be enjoyed by locals and tourists alike!! They also offer Abura Soba, so you can finish with noodles in the morning (laughs). They also have non-alcoholic beer, but I'm not a fan of beer and non-alcoholic beer, so I didn't order it. I ordered: Abura Soba Original Soy Sauce (800 yen) - It lacked ingredients such as chashu, menma, and egg yolk, which was a bit disappointing. The flat twisted noodles were chewy and delicious even without any special toppings like vinegar. A friend from Tokyo wanted to eat fresh oysters, so I guided them to this place. We usually sit on the terrace, but in February, it's too cold for that. It was my first visit to this restaurant, as I was brought here by an acquaintance I met at a bar. We were a group of four, so they prepared an outdoor seating for us, which I was happy about since I prefer sitting outside. We ordered grilled oysters and garlic shrimp. It was my first time trying oyster ajillo, and I was surprised by how well garlic and oysters go together! It was a new discovery for me. The oil that melted out from the oysters was delicious, and the bread was a must-have to soak up all the flavors. The oysters were big and creamy, very tasty. I would love to come back again! The staff informed us that oysters are complimentary for the first order, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed the oysters plain and with condiments like ponzu sauce, lemon, and Tabasco. My sister preferred them plain. We ordered more oysters and grilled oysters, as well as more drinks. The grilled oysters were rich and flavorful. The staff was friendly and we had a great time. We exchanged bar recommendations with a lovely couple we met before leaving. It was a fun and enjoyable experience.

Let's dive into the oyster festival! Order only oysters, starting with raw, grilled, or steamed - all equally delicious. Let's also try some creative dishes. ・Cheese-baked oysters for 600 yen: A rare delicacy with plenty of cheese and basil sauce. ・Oysters Bourguignon Butter for 690 yen: Oysters in a garlic butter sauce, perfect for dipping bread (100 yen). It's cheap and for some reason, they always give you a little extra at any branch you visit. I've been to three Goppyo locations so far, and the space is truly just five tsubo. Social distancing is impossible here (^^; When you need to move for some reason, if you're sitting in the back, everyone else has to move to let you out. They open from 3 pm, and there's no cover charge or seating fee, so you only pay for what you order. Steamed oysters, raw oysters, grilled oysters, all of them are delicious and reasonably priced. When my friend and I were debating on what to order to share, they even gave us an extra oyster in the set of 3 oysters. It's a small counter-only place, and the friendly owner makes it feel like you're chatting with friends. If you're a fan of oysters and want to eat them at a great price, Goppyo is the place to go. The area east of Sosei River is named "Sosei River East," most likely as part of a motivation to promote redevelopment. This approach is typical of Kasumigaseki, but it seems Sapporo is following suit. The charm of this area, distinct from Sapporo Station, Odori, Susukino, and Tanuki Koji, lies in its unpolished, unique atmosphere. With the foreigner-filled Nijo Market at its center, one can witness nostalgic shops alongside new forces emerging. The restaurant was small, but if one visits solely for the oysters, the size becomes a non-issue. Enjoying thick, juicy oysters from Akkeshi, different from those of Minami Sanriku, is a delightful experience. Paired with white wine, it is a treat from the Pacific. After 30 minutes, one could have been satisfied, but a different craving led to trying the "abura soba." What was missing or different from the oysters? If the choice had been simply oysters, perhaps the night at Sosei River would have deepened even further.

It feels more like a small beer mug. The two fresh oysters arrive. They seem to be from Akkeshi. You can really taste the sea in them. You can feel the background of something that has grown in the sea. I couldn't take a good picture of the potato fry. It was filled to the brim with potatoes. It may be hard to convey... I wanted to add grilled oysters, but it seems they haven't arrived yet and everyone is waiting. The shop is getting busier, so that's it for today. I couldn't eat much, but I'm looking forward to coming back for more oysters from Akkeshi. That's the feeling I get.
