During a trip with my wife, we were looking for a second place to eat in Asahikawa and stumbled upon this small sushi restaurant that looked inviting. The interior was mainly counter seating with the chef preparing the sushi right in front of us. The freshness of the fish and the experience of having it prepared in front of us was wonderful. However, the cost performance might have been a bit lacking. The tuna we ordered at the end somehow ended up being for two people, which put us slightly over budget. A bit disappointing.

On Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 6:30 pm, three siblings went out to eat together. We started with some appetizers (forgot to take a picture), followed by vinegar-marinated sea cucumber (a favorite!), chicken and cucumber marinated dish, and simmered squid. The meal started off on a good note. The sweet shrimp was incredibly fresh, and the luxurious three-piece sushi was unbelievably delicious. The octopus, another favorite of mine, had a fantastic texture, possibly lightly blanched. The squid with precise knife work had a satisfying chewiness. We shared two grilled abalones, which were the perfect accompaniment. The pickled squid and spicy salted cod roe were both homemade and paired well with drinks. The flounder was a calming dish. My brother ordered the mackerel as the finishing dish, and although I didn't try it, it looked beautiful and he seemed satisfied. We shared the sea urchin sashimi, which was perfect. The egg was delicious but too large. Apart from the mackerel, I personally tried everything we ordered. We all enjoyed the luxurious abalone and sea urchin. Each of us had around 3-4 drinks, and in the end, the bill came to a surprising 38,000 yen!

On Tuesday, June 6th, three people, including two guests, sought a Hokkaido menu for early summer. The appetizers were unexpectedly good, with dishes like fried oysters that were easy to eat without a strong taste, simmered cod roe that was a great accompaniment, trout roe that was distinctly Hokkaido, and soy sauce marinated fish that was quite delicious. The vinegar miso with burdock was perfect, and the vinegar marinated sea cucumber was the best in the world. The simmered salmon skin was very Hokkaido and the guests loved it. The rolled omelette was served right off the grill and was perfect. We each had shrimp sushi first, which was the essence of having shrimp with eggs. Each guest had scallop and squid sushi, while I had shrimp and octopus sashimi. The vinegar dish with bracken fern and jellyfish was refreshing and a great way to finish the meal. Everything was delicious. We had 2 glasses of sake, 5 highballs, 1 bamboo leaf-wrapped dish, and 3 servings of 2-go rice, totaling 29,700 yen for the meal. Isn't that too expensive? Thank you for the meal.

I wanted people in Tokyo to enjoy the blessings of Hokkaido, so I visited "Chiba" this time. The Wakasagi fry recommended by the chef at the beginning goes perfectly with beer and highball. The appetizers, simmered cod, roasted beef, and okra cooked in broth were all luxurious. The sushi included sea urchin, kanpachi, and botan shrimp, while I ordered octopus, sweet shrimp, and engawa. I also ordered various other dishes but I forgot them. Overall, I was very satisfied, and the guests were also very pleased. Thank you for the feast.

I wanted to eat sushi so I visited this restaurant for the first time! Starting from the appetizer, the portion size was surprising and I ended up feeling full! Finally got to try the much anticipated Pacific saury sashimi which was delicious! I could eat it all up in no time! The beef tataki, which is rare to find in a sushi restaurant, was tender and also very tasty! The grilled Pacific saury was also perfect! For nigiri, I recommend the sea urchin, mackerel, ark shell, squid, and tuna. The rolls, burdock rolls and sea urchin with salmon roe, were a bit challenging to eat but delicious nonetheless! Maybe I ordered them wrong? The sea urchin with eel and cucumber was soaked in flavor and very tasty! Lastly, they served fruits as a dessert.

Sushi restaurant Chiba-san is a great place to visit with private rooms and a counter. The sushi is delicious, and they have a variety of drinks to pair with it. The rolls are my favorite, and they have a great selection of drinks to choose from. Overall, a fantastic place for sushi and drinks. Thank you for the meal.

The items lined up in the counter without plastic wrap are a sign of good turnover, impressive. Starting with a small-sized peony shrimp and well-textured salmon on the leftmost side, the customer was pleased. I thought it was spicy chives, but it turned out to be escharot. The customer wasn't impressed with shako, so I introduced the power of Japanese sea shako with eggs, and they were amazed by the taste. I had flounder and cured mackerel, while the customer had kazunoko and sea urchin, all delicious. Next was a variety of skewers, too many for the customer, but a luxurious treat. A palate cleanser with fresh tomato, followed by warm sake. The customer had octopus and ark shell. The finale was simmered anago, each piece was irresistible. With 2 servings of warm sake and 4 bottles, the total came to just under 19,000 yen, not cheap but worth it. Thank you for the meal.

Strolling around Sanroku... it was quite a while ago (*^ω^*) I don't remember which number of restaurant it was... but I feel like finishing with sushi... apparently... haha I had battered fish at a certain restaurant a few places back... haha Then, I headed to my usual favorite restaurant, but the sign was gone... (°д°) Bummer. Oh, I remember now! It's mackerel, right? Sushi, right?? I got an idea ♬ So, I went to "Chiba" for the first time in a while...♪*゚[Finishing with mackerel sushi]♬ I was already full, so I ordered "mackerel sashimi"♡ My friend who loves mackerel had her Chiba debut... I ordered the finishing mackerel sushi...♪*゚ Oh... Chiba, you never fail to surprise me... They gave me a slightly smaller piece... but it's fine... she seemed very pleased saying "Delicious~♡" Chiba never disappoints... I'm glad she enjoyed it♬ The head chef at Chiba was as charming as ever, with a calming atmosphere ✩.*˚ I couldn't resist ordering a bit more sushi... (*´ч`*)♡ Their side dishes are delicious too, so I also had some of my favorite trefoil. It's about time... I think I'll order the "packed mackerel"♡ I felt like trying it again after looking back at my review... haha I'll get it for takeout next time...♪*゚ When things settle down, I'll go back to the counter♬ Thanks for the meal~(*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡

It's a common thing at sushi restaurants to have no menu and not know the prices of the dishes. After a business dinner with drinks, I felt a bit hungry on the way back and ended up making a detour to a sushi restaurant. I think I ordered the "regular" set or something like that. The small clams simmered in soy sauce that came as a starter went perfectly with the sake. The rice topped with hokke fish was delicious too. I had a few pieces of sushi, including ark shell, whelk, and salmon roe, and they were all tasty with just the right amount of vinegar and size. I wanted to have some mackerel sushi to finish, but I was already full, so I ordered some sashimi instead. It was a bit disappointing that the vinegar rice was a bit too advanced. I saw a review recommending the pressed sushi, but I had already eaten too many carbs, so I decided to walk a bit on my way back. However, the next morning, I woke up with blood on my knee, probably from falling somewhere the night before.

At the end of March in Asahikawa, the nights are still cold. It's a relatively quiet time with few people around. Since I don't like crowded places and I was alone anyway, I decided to wait at a hotel while enjoying sweet shrimp and drinks. Luckily, the staff from Asahiyama Zoo were talking about penguins in the hotel lobby, which helped pass the time. Finally, I headed to a restaurant that I had read about in a review of Asahikawa. There was no information about the opening hours, so I was worried if it was open. But the lights were on, and there was one other customer, who seemed like a regular. It was just right. I started with beer and appetizers, listening to TV topics and the stories of the regular customer while enjoying my meal. I decided to try the pickled herring, even though I usually don't like pickled fish dishes like herring sushi. The owner recommended it, saying "This pickled herring is well marinated! It goes great with sake." So, I switched to sake, specifically Kokuki's Onikoroshi. The pickled herring was just right - not too sour or spicy, and I could eat a lot of rice with it. I had some snacks and then enjoyed some sushi, which disappeared quickly. I ordered a scallop as my last dish and asked for the bill. I felt good - the delicious sake and food made my evening in Asahikawa memorable.

It was delicious. Since it was my first visit and I also value cost, I cannot fully evaluate it yet. The fact that the inside of the net cage was not wrapped in plastic is highly appreciated. Thank you for the meal.
