There are various types of ramen such as rich, light, shiroyu, kiyuyu, etc., and there is also delicious ramen in Tennoji! Its name is "Menya Wabito" located near Tennoji Station North Exit. Whenever I pass by, I always see a line of people waiting, indicating its popularity. So, after almost 10 years of passing by, I finally decided to visit the place. The name "Wabito" made me wonder if it was pronounced as "wajin" or "wabito," but it's actually "wabito." They use traditional Japanese cooking techniques to make their soup, which is delicate and flavorful. Their most popular dish is the "Wabito Ramen" priced at 800 yen. It has a clear golden soup made with dried fish, kelp, and mackerel flakes, giving it a deep umami flavor. The noodles are medium-thin and smooth, which I personally like. The chicken breast chashu is cooked at low temperature, making it juicy and tender. The addition of seasoned egg half is also a nice touch. The quality of this ramen for 800 yen is impressive. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. Despite the recent trend of flashy and exaggerated ramen shops, Wabito has maintained its popularity with its genuine service and delicious food. Saying "thank you" after the meal is a small gesture that shows their sincerity. Overall, I had a great dining experience at Wabito Ramen.

I went to try the limited summer tsukemen at this place, which I believe will only be available until the end of this month. I arrived around 11:35 and was able to get in without waiting! Lucky me. However, the place was full afterwards, showing how popular it is. Since it's tsukemen, it takes longer than other ramen dishes. The staff at this restaurant are very friendly and polite, which I like. The noodles are different from ramen, being flat and firm, and chilled well with ice. The chashu comes in both chicken and pork, with a rare texture that I enjoy. The dish is served with vegetables like sudachi, tomato, and shiso, giving it a nice balance. It also comes with salt and egg yolk for flavor variation. The dipping sauce is on the saltier side, so adding the ice under the noodles makes it just right. It was refreshing and perfect for a hot day! I wish they had soup refills available. Looking forward to the next limited item!

I found a restaurant on a side street near Tennoji Station North Exit! It was just after they had started their evening hours and the place was already full, so I bought a meal ticket and waited for about 10 minutes. I ordered their "Hiyashi Tsukemen 2023" because it was hot outside! They offered a free upsize, so I got the large portion ^_^ I also ordered a bottled beer. They kindly brought out some dried fish that they use in the soup as a snack to enjoy with the beer. As I sipped on my beer and snacked on the dried fish, the tsukemen arrived. I tried it as instructed - first plain, then with salt, dipping sauce, shiso leaves, and your choice of condiments. It was delicious! The noodles were chewy and had a nice texture. And I really liked the chicken chashu. Next time, I want to order it as a side dish and enjoy it with beer again haha I'll definitely be back. Thank you for the meal.

I went around 1 pm on Thursday and was able to enter smoothly without waiting. It operates on a ticket system. I was torn between the mixed noodles and the recommended Washito ramen for my first visit, so I ordered the Washito ramen. It has a calm taste with a dashi base. It doesn't have a strong punch, but it may be good for those who like dashi. The fact that the table tea is black oolong tea is a good impression.

I came back this year because the food was delicious last year. The cost performance is great too! I wonder if they will stop serving cold noodles soon. #MenyaWato #WatoRamen #ColdWatoRamen #TennojiGourmet #TennojiLunch #Ramen #LimitedNoodles #ramen #noodle #noodles #Noodlestagram #NoodleLife #RamenClub #OsakaRamen

Today, I worked in Osaka and decided to stop for dinner on my way back at Tennoji station for a quick meal. I've been eating ramen all day, but today in Osaka, I decided to go to a ramen shop once again. Although the thick cut pork cutlet bowl looked tempting, I made up my mind and chose the Mazesoba for 880 yen. I'll have to go on a diet from tomorrow, given the calories in this meal. The free extra-large option was a tempting offer, but I resisted. The shop I headed to was Menya Wato Tennoji Kitaguchi Honten, highly rated in the area. It's quite hot outside, so I decided to skip the ramen this time. The wait for the food was a bit longer compared to lunch, but I decided to be patient since I have no other plans after this. Oh, it's rush hour when I take the Midosuji Line, I need to be prepared for the crowd. The waiting time was long, but I managed to pass the time with the complimentary bean sprouts and black oolong tea. The Mazesoba finally arrived, and it came with a drawer at the counter containing various spices like garam masala and pepper that you can mix in according to your preference. There were also toppings like dried fish vinegar that you could add. The noodles were a bit too firm, making it difficult to mix. It had been a while since I had Mazesoba, and I felt that the noodles were a bit too firm, lacking the chewy texture. I realized that their specialty was indeed the ramen. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Around 8:00 PM, I visited "Menya Wajin" alone. Located just a few minutes' walk from JR Tennoji Station, this is a Japanese-style ramen shop known for its golden broth made from dried bonito and kelp. As a complimentary dish, they serve "kombu moyashi" (kelp bean sprouts). It's nice that they offer free extra noodles and black oolong tea. Here are some of the menu items: - Wajin Ramen 850 yen - Takumi Black 920 yen - Wajin Mazesoba 880 yen - Shime Chazuke 200 yen - Gyoza 350 yen - Chicken Chashu Plate 400 yen They also have curry ramen, summer limited tsukemen, and sides like "toriten" (chicken tempura). The dishes I tried were: - Wajin Ramen 850 yen - Shime Chazuke 200 yen The golden-colored soup made from carefully extracted kelp and dried bonito has a subtle umami flavor typical of Japanese cuisine, which is very satisfying. The shime chazuke comes with separate rice, leaf wasabi, and aosa seaweed. You pour the leftover ramen soup over the rice. The aosa seaweed adds a nice touch. Overall, this is a very hospitable restaurant. You can feel their intention to make customers happy. From the complimentary kombu moyashi and black oolong tea to the free extra noodles and various seasonings in the drawer, they have put a lot of thought into the details. And of course, the ramen is delicious. I recommend giving it a try. #Ramen #OsakaRamen #TennojiRamen #KansaiRamen #Foodie #OsakaFoodie #TennojiFoodie #KansaiFoodie #RamenLovers #FoodieConnect

It was a typhoon day and the restaurant was empty. They had their classic salt ramen and soy sauce ramen, and I chose the soy sauce one. The seafood broth was amazing, overpowering the soy sauce flavor. It was a unique bowl of ramen that I had never tasted before. The broth was clean and visually appealing.

The initial black oolong tea served as a welcome was very good. I was drawn by the high ratings for their dashi ramen and decided to visit. I tried the Wajin Ramen. It was refreshing yet had a strong flavor that was not overpowering. It didn't get boring. It made me want to eat more. Additionally, the service was very polite.

I wanted to visit the popular restaurant "Menya Wato Tennoji Kitaguchi Honten" for lunch, located just a short walk from Tennoji Station. On this day, a holiday, I arrived at the shop 15 minutes before opening time, but there were already 9 people waiting in line. More customers arrived behind me, and by opening time, there were about 20 customers in line. Finally, at 11:30 AM, the shop opened. Luckily, I got a seat on the first rotation. I was undecided on what to order, but I ended up choosing "Takumi BLACK: 920 yen" from the ticket machine. The counter had 11 seats, free extra noodles, and the option to charge your mobile phone. After waiting for about 20 minutes, my ramen arrived. The soup looked thick, but it had a refreshing and slightly sweet depth of flavor, which was delicious. The straight medium-thick noodles were tasty, and the rare chashu was also delicious. I would like to try a different ramen next time if I have the chance.

I have been to Tennoji countless times, but this place is surprisingly my first time here. I struggled a bit with ordering through the food ticket system, but I ended up getting the maze soba! It was delicious! The flavor of dried sardines was strong, and even though I ordered a large portion of noodles, I was able to finish it easily. There are quite a few types of ramen available here, so I'm thinking of trying something different next time.

Hello! Today, I visited Menya Wato in Tennoji, where I had their signature "Wato Ramen". I used to be a fan of tonkotsu ramen, but after trying various types of ramen, I started craving for something different. So today, I had a sudden craving for shoyu ramen and decided to visit this restaurant that I had bookmarked. I arrived at 7:10 PM and there was no line outside. The restaurant was full but luckily I got a seat right away as the next customers arrived just after me.
I ordered the Wato Ramen (hot) for 850 yen. The soup was a blend of flavors from dried fish, kelp, and chicken, creating a rich and delicious seafood broth. The noodles were made from a selection of wheat flour by a noodle sommelier, and they were just right - not too firm, not too soft, and complemented the soup well. The toppings included 4 slices of chicken chashu, half a seasoned egg, bamboo shoots, seaweed, and green onions. The chashu was made from chicken meat. For a regular menu item, the toppings were quite generous.
Overall, Menya Wato in Tennoji was a delightful experience. Thank you for the meal! Today's step count: 13,445 steps. Calories burned: 497 kcal.

Order:
- Wajin Tsukemen 2023 Summer Noodles Double (400g) 1,300 yen
- Cold Wajin Noodles Large Serving 850 yen
When I arrived at the restaurant, there were seats available for two, so we were seated immediately. There was a constant flow of customers coming in, and the place was always full. The Wajin Tsukemen 2023 Summer Noodles were made with whole grain flat wide noodles, which were delicious as always. The dipping sauce was not like the usual tsukemen soup, but more like a cold soy sauce-based sauce, similar to what you might find with zaru soba. The Cold Wajin Noodles were thin straight noodles with a refreshing texture and a smooth, moist surface. The soup was cold with a strong bonito flavor that was both refreshing and flavorful. It was incredibly delicious and one of the best cold ramen dishes I've had recently. The service was attentive and polite.

I had been curious about this place for a while and finally got the chance to try it. I arrived around 6:00 PM on a Saturday and there was no wait. I bought my meal ticket from the machine and was shown to my seat, where I was served black oolong tea and a side dish of bean sprouts. The condiments were in a drawer. The seating area had partitions, but there was plenty of space for one person. My ramen arrived within a few minutes, topped with green onions, bamboo shoots, 4 slices of chicken chashu, bonito flakes, and an egg. The price of ¥850 for this amount of food was rare these days. The soup was Japanese-style and lacked depth. The noodles were firm and had a good bite, but they didn't hold up well towards the end. It felt like they might get soggy after a while, especially after drinking.

I ordered the Maze Soba for 880 yen. I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture before mixing it (lol). The flavor of the fish powder was strong and delicious. I was impressed that you can get a free extra serving of noodles, which is rare nowadays. However, the regular size already had a lot of noodles, so I didn't really need it. Also, it's a bit of a walk from Tennoji Station, so it can be tough to go there in the scorching summer heat. But I heard they have a branch in Hoop! I definitely want to check that out!

On a hot day, I looked at the ticket machine and it said you can choose hot or cold options. I decided to go for the cold noodles. You can choose to have a little extra noodles, but even the regular portion was quite filling. When I sat down, they served me black oolong tea and a starter of bean sprouts. It was my first time getting a starter at a ramen shop! They even provided aprons and hair ties. The soup was refreshing and delicious. I was recommended to try adding vinegar with dried fish, which was a nice touch. I also tried sprinkling garam masala on the pork slices and adding garlic to the soup for more flavor variations. I enjoyed the meal until the end. I was very happy that the seaweed served was not soaked in the soup.

Today's lunch was on the way to Yoshino-cho, and I visited "Wajin" near Tennoji Station North Exit for the first time. I tried the recommended shoyu ramen, and it was so refined! The chicken chashu and noodles matched perfectly with the soup. I was very satisfied. The fact that you can get a large serving of noodles for free, and all this flavor for 850 yen is a great deal. Everyone should definitely try it!

I visited the restaurant on a holiday afternoon. There was no wait. I bought the "Takumi Black" ramen (920 yen) from the ticket machine. I was seated at the counter. The ramen came with bean sprout namul. The soup was not as strong as I expected, it was mild and simple. The noodles were smooth and standard. Overall, it was a tasty ramen. I wonder if the Wajin Ramen would have been better. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

When I ordered a drink, I enjoyed the appetizer before the ramen! When I opened the drawer in front of the counter, there were spices for flavor enhancement along with chopsticks and a spoon! The ramen itself was delicious, so I wanted to enjoy the taste of the spices as well, which made me want to visit again and again!

"Menya Wajin Tennoji Kitaguchi Honten" in Tennoji, Osaka City. Located just a 3-minute walk east from JR Tennoji Station North Exit, this restaurant has plenty of coin parking nearby. Upon entering, purchase the "Wajin Ramen" (850 yen tax included) and "Shime Chazuke" (200 yen tax included) from the ticket machine on the right side. Sit at the counter, hand over the ticket for the "Wajin Ramen," and keep the "Shime Chazuke" ticket until you finish your ramen. While waiting, a namul dish is served, and the clear and beautiful soup catches your eye. Made mainly with dried fish and kelp, the soup is rich and smooth with a deep flavor. The thin straight noodles are perfectly balanced to maintain the wheat flavor without being overpowered by the soup. The tender "chicken chashu (4 slices)" and other toppings like "flavored egg (half)," "bamboo shoots," "green onions," "bonito flakes," and "seaweed" complement the dish well. Additionally, there are 5 flavoring items for you to enjoy, and I tried the "special chili pepper" for flavor variation. The "Shime Chazuke" with rice, seaweed (probably), wasabi, and rice crackers, topped with the remaining soup, was also delicious. The service from the staff was exceptional, and the quality of both the food and service at "Wajin" and its sister store "MARUFUJI CAFE" next door is outstanding. It was a satisfying lunch, and I highly recommend this place to everyone!"

This is a ramen shop located right near the north exit of Tennoji Station. I arrived around 1 pm and was able to get a seat right away. I ordered the soy sauce ramen and waited a few minutes. The soup looked a bit light, but the bowl came with two slices of rare chashu pork, an egg, and plenty of green onions. I started by tasting the soup, and it was incredibly flavorful with a deep umami taste. It was delicious! There was also a hint of bitterness that was strangely addictive. I can see why people can get hooked on bitterness. The complex broth and umami flavors were really impressive. It felt a bit rich, but it paired perfectly with the noodles. I usually like clear soy sauce ramen, but I really enjoyed the unique soy sauce flavor here. I also tried the clam broth ramen, which was also quite tasty. I would recommend the soy sauce ramen. I think they also have mazesoba, so I'd like to try that next time.
