I finally had the opportunity to try the popular "Katsu Curry Tea Pickles" at the highly acclaimed "Haraiso Sparkle" restaurant, which was featured on a nationwide broadcast on the TBS network. The restaurant, located near Higobashi Station on Yotsubashi-suji, had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The friendly owner engaged in lively conversations with customers, creating a fun and enjoyable dining experience. I ordered the "Katsu Curry Tea Pickles (regular)" as my main dish, and also tried other dishes based on the recommendations of the neighboring customers. The food was delicious, especially the Katsu Curry Tea Pickles which had a unique and refreshing taste. The spring rolls and dumplings were also flavorful and satisfying. Overall, it was a great dining experience and I look forward to visiting again in the future.

During lunchtime. Visited around 12:00. The restaurant was quite empty. Ordered a medium serving of coconut curry. Delicious. There were big lemongrass stalks left, but curries are meant to be eaten by removing such spices, so it's not a problem. Both the owner and the staff had lovely smiles. I plan to go back at night. *It was written that curry ochazuke is only available after 13:00. The curry is so delicious, so I'm looking forward to trying that too.

I went to this restaurant because a friend recommended it. I was lucky as there was no line when I arrived. Since it was Wednesday, they had unique menu items. I decided to order the tonkatsu curry rice tea pickles set without hesitation. When I started eating, it turned out to be tea pickles over rice (laughs). It was delicious, but quite filling, and the tea pickles made my stomach feel full.

This is a review of a restaurant near Higobashi Station, which serves spicy curry during the day and transforms into a bar at night. Despite the slightly shady appearance with pink lights, the interior has a cozy and intimate atmosphere, with a focus on music. The seating consists of a small counter, and the staff, both young men and women, are friendly. The menu offers options like vegetable curry plate, meat curry plate, combination plate of vegetable and meat curry, and their specialty dish, "Haraison" curry rice with deep-fried pork cutlet. I opted for the meat curry plate, which came with a spicy curry topped with sour and spicy fried eggplant, along with a side of deep-fried pork cutlet. The curry had a strong spice flavor with a good balance of acidity from the eggplant, and the colorful side dishes added texture to the meal. Overall, it was delicious, and I look forward to trying their curry rice with pork cutlet and tea next time. Thank you for the meal.

Vegetable curry + meat curry combination plate for 1400 yen. A curry plate filled with various ingredients, like a treasure chest of curry. On the right is vegetable curry, on the left is meat curry. There is potato salad on top of the white rice. The meat curry is topped with grated daikon radish. The fried chicken as a side dish is juicy and delicious. The meat curry is made with coarse ground meat, but it can be eaten lightly with ponzu and grated daikon radish. Mixing the mild vegetable curry with the meat, potato salad, and fried chicken creates a variety of flavors. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I finally visited a restaurant I had been wanting to go to. I arrived a bit later to avoid the crowd, and luckily was able to get in easily, perhaps due to the rain. The menu had four options: Vegetable Curry Plate, Meat Curry Plate, Combination Plate with Vegetable Curry and Meat Curry, and Katsu Curry Ochazuke. The Katsu Curry Ochazuke is only available after 1:00 PM on weekdays. This time, I chose the Combination Plate with Vegetable Curry and Meat Curry for 1,400 yen. Each dish came with side dishes and a crispy fried chicken. It felt a bit pricey, maybe because of the side dishes. You can choose between white rice and brown rice, as well as the amount of rice you want. The curry had a dashi flavor and was on the rich side. The fried chicken was crispy and delicious. However, the restaurant was too hot inside, making it hard to fully enjoy the meal. I just wanted to finish quickly and leave. If someone could confirm that there is air conditioning in the restaurant, I would consider going back just to try the Katsu Curry Ochazuke!

It was a rare dish called Tonkatsu Tea-Infused Curry. The pork portion was generous for 1500 yen and you could choose between white rice and brown rice. It was a strange dish that gave the sensation of eating both tea-infused rice and curry at the same time. The pickled plum went well with it. The crispy tonkatsu was also very good. Other menu items besides the tonkatsu curry seemed popular too.

I ordered the "Lemon Mint Cilantro Chicken Curry" at a restaurant featured on Downtown DX, which also offers vegetable curry and pork curry, including a unique dish called "Tonkatsu Curry Tea Pickles". I chose brown rice over white rice and opted for a small portion. The curry had a refreshing taste with lemon peel, mint, and cilantro, and the portion size was quite generous. It would be a hit with female customers. The restaurant also offers various spiced dishes that would pair well with drinks in the evening. I might try it out at night next time.

Located in Osaka City, Nishi Ward, just a short walk from Edobori and Yotsubashi-suji, is Haraiso Sparkle. This curry restaurant and spice izakaya is known for its curry rice tea pickles. The spiced dishes, with a strong cumin flavor, are perfect for enjoying with drinks. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of spiced gin cocktails, making it a true spice izakaya. The famous curry rice tea pickles are a must-try, but unfortunately, it will have to wait until next time. The owner's character adds to the cozy atmosphere of the place. Visited in May 2023 for some Italian food, but still in the mood for a little more drinking. So, I stumbled upon Haraiso Sparkle and decided to give it a try. It's tucked away on the second floor of a dining building, so if you don't see the sign outside, you might miss it. The owner was sitting comfortably in a chair, but seemed to be suffering from a painful toe issue. I started with a highball and then moved on to shochu. For light bites, I ordered the spiced meatballs with green chutney and Parmesan cheese, as well as the thick mapo tofu bean thread noodles. The meatballs were flavorful and spicy, with a generous amount of Parmesan. The green chutney had a kick from green chili peppers. The thick mapo tofu bean thread noodles were a delightful surprise, with their chewy texture and spicy mapo flavor. These dishes were perfect for pairing with drinks. The owner mentioned taking a break the next day, but it seems they have already returned. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Overall, the spiced dishes were unexpectedly delicious, the owner's character added to the fun atmosphere, and I definitely plan to visit again.

Continuing from last month, I went to Haraiso with my wife this month. We had dinner instead of lunch, enjoying some spicy dishes and drinks. We arrived around 6:50 PM and there was only one customer already there. An hour later, the restaurant was full with a few groups being turned away. We ordered the following items: - Lotus root and gizzard lemon mint mustard stir-fry - Garlic butter sautéed new onions - Spicy minced meat skewers with green chutney and Parmesan cheese - Thick ma po bean thread noodles - Lamb dumplings - Spicy curry yakisoba that doesn't go well with alcohol - Three types of curry of the week We also had the following drinks: - Sapporo Red Star beer (medium bottle) - Fennel gin - Cardamom gin - Seasonal fruit and spice rum-infused Overall, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was lively despite the busy crowd. The service was a bit slow due to being short-staffed, but we enjoyed our time together. Thank you for the meal.

Haraiso Tonkatsu Curry Chazuke with Brown Rice Regular Portion for 1,500 yen. The Katsu Curry Chazuke is available from 1 pm and it's my first visit using PayPay. You can choose between brown rice and white rice. I started with the Curry Chazuke, which has a good amount of volume but is easy to eat. Even the small portion would be good for lunch. I might get hooked on this. I also want to try the Chicken Katsu Chazuke and the Curry!

I ordered a plate with three types of curry (spicy chicken curry, pork belly marinated in soy sauce with new onions curry, and creamy soy milk potage with spring cabbage) and topped it with a soft-boiled egg pickle that caught my eye. The curry was a regular portion and cost 1,400 yen, with the topping costing an additional 100 yen, totaling 1,500 yen. The miso-marinated pork went well with the curry, providing a satisfying and hearty meal. I'm looking forward to trying the curry cutlet rice bowl next time.

I usually go to Haraiso Sparkle for lunch, but this time I visited in the evening. I arrived before 7pm and was seated promptly. Throughout the night, there were a few customers coming in, some having curry for dinner, some drinking with friends, and others drinking alone (like me). I started with the sand liver and lotus root mustard stir-fry, which had a nice spicy flavor. I also had an original gin and soda drink before leaving the restaurant feeling full.

Today's lunch was around Umeda. I didn't have a specific place in mind, but I had some time before my next job, so I decided to head to Higobashi from Umeda. Among the five remaining restaurants I wanted to visit, the idea of trying Haraiso Sparkle's curry rice tea caught my attention. I had seen curry rice tea being featured on TV before, and since it's only available for lunch after 1:00 PM, I rarely get the chance to try it. It was exactly 1:00 PM when I arrived. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I decided to give it a try. When I got there at 1:50 PM, there were two customers ahead of me and one customer behind me. I ordered the medium-sized Haraiso tonkatsu curry rice tea. The dish arrived in 11-12 minutes. The soup curry had basmati rice floating in it. I could see purple cabbage and seaweed with salted kelp. It looked just like the rumors. I took a sip of the soup first. Wow! Even though it's curry, it has the flavor of tea rice and the aroma of arare! It's not heavily curry-flavored like soup curry, but the nuances of tea rice are slightly stronger. Strangely, you can taste both the tea rice and curry flavors at the same time, but separately. They don't mix into a different taste. I chose tonkatsu over chicken katsu. I like the feeling of the tonkatsu breading getting a bit soggy. I was just amazed at how they came up with such a menu. The medium size portion was quite generous, and I was quite full after finishing it. Thank you for the meal.

On March 31, 2023, at 12:10, I was waiting outside the restaurant. I entered at 12:30 and ordered a Sri Lankan-style curry with chicken and a Sri Lankan-style curry with striped piglet, both mixed together in a regular serving with brown rice for ¥1300. I also ordered a soft-boiled egg and pickles for ¥100. It was a relaxed atmosphere with two staff members. The curry rice was not available until 1:00, so I decided to try it next time. The white curry was chicken, and the black curry was striped piglet. The white curry with chicken had a coconut milk base, which I'm not a big fan of, especially after cilantro and lemongrass. However, since it has coconut milk, it's not too spicy. On the other hand, the spicy curry with striped piglet was spicier, and it had a hint of acidity, which I suspect came from pickled plums. There were also whole coriander seeds in it. It's been a while since I had such a spicy curry, but this restaurant's curry manages to capture the essence of the original while adjusting to suit Japanese tastes. I think most people would enjoy it.

Tonkatsu curry rice tea pickles ¥1700 When you're feeling a bit tired, recharge your energy with curry! I ordered the famous Tonkatsu curry rice tea pickles in regular size. It took a bit of time to fry the tonkatsu. It arrived on a large plate. Looking at the menu, I noticed that there is a large size option like at Yoshinoya. The volume made me a bit nervous, but I think I can finish it in one go! The combination of tonkatsu and curry feels quite heavy, but surprisingly it's light and satisfying. Thank you for the meal. It was delicious. 6.4

A spice curry restaurant near Higobashi subway station. Visited before 12 pm on a weekday and about half of the seats were already taken. The place has a counter with a capacity of 6-7 people. The menu includes classic chicken curry and two rotating weekly specials that you can order as a single dish, a combination of two, or a combination of three. You can choose between white rice and brown rice, with portion sizes ranging from small to large. I ordered the combination of two weekly specials with brown rice. I chose the topping of fried chicken. The weekly specials were "Lemon Cream Keema Curry with Nanohana and Chicken in Clam Dashi" and "Bean Curry with a Hint of Plum". The unique feature of the curry here is its slightly unusual and creative taste. I got hooked on it and now visit for lunch once a week.

I'm happy that the lunch place I couldn't find before also serves lunch. I lined up from 11:00 am and was the first in line, but by the time they opened at half past, all the seats were already taken, so it's better to come a little earlier. The owner looks tough, but is actually very kind. This week's curry was No.1 and the special. Today, they also had Biryani, so I went for that without hesitation. The portion sizes come in different levels, and the explanation was detailed. I ordered a small portion. After taking everyone's order, the curry arrived at 12:00. In the meantime, more customers arrived, so we all squeezed in and added more chairs. There were also two groups waiting outside. The atmosphere was great with the music playing. The plum flavor was delicious. The chicken in the special curry was generous, with two pieces of fried chicken on top, making it quite filling. The spiced egg was also tasty with a hint of sourness. It was delicious with a rich broth. I paid with PayPay. Thank you for the meal!

Located a 3-5 minute walk from Fushimi Bridge Station, the spice curry restaurant "Haraiso Sparkle" has a vibrant exterior but a cozy atmosphere inside with mainly counter seating. The menu offers a wide variety of curry options, and you can choose the amount of rice you prefer. I tried the Haraiso Chicken Curry and a plate with herb-infused tomato chicken keema curry topped with cheese sauce. I ordered the regular size of rice, which was quite generous in portion, almost like a large serving at other restaurants. The curry was rich and well-balanced in spiciness, acidity, and bitterness. The addition of creamy cheese, crunchy achaar, and crispy fried chicken made the meal very satisfying and flavorful. If you enjoy authentic spice curry, I highly recommend visiting this place. Thank you for the delicious meal!

A neon-lit curry shop that looks like a snack bar. The restaurant only had counter seats, and it was packed during lunchtime, so we had to wait a bit outside before we could enter. It's a popular spot! I had the chicken curry and sake lees curry (I couldn't remember the exact names, sorry) which was a combination curry. The rice portion was like a large serving at Yoshinoya, so I opted for a small portion. Today, they only had white rice available, but usually, you can choose brown rice as well. The curry had a good amount of spices, was quite flavorful, had plenty of ingredients, and was delicious. I can handle spicy food well, so I enjoyed it, but my friend found it a bit too strong towards the end. If you're not a fan of spicy food, be careful!

Visited before 1 pm. The counter-only restaurant with 8 seats was full. Waited for about 10 minutes. Seats started to open up around 1:15 pm. After 1 pm, you can also order curry rice tea pickles that have been featured on TV. There are two types based on hayashi rice and jambalaya. You can choose the amount of rice from very little to extra-large, with prices ranging from -100 yen to +250 yen. The extra-large portion looks like it's close to 600g. Toppings include eggs, famous fried chicken, and other appealing options. The "all toppings" option is 300 yen, which is quite a deal. I ordered the jambalaya with oysters and tandoori chicken toppings, with onion soup poured over it. I chose a medium portion of rice for 1500 yen. It arrived after about 15 minutes. It looks like a soup curry with plenty of soup. The tandoori chicken, cheese, and grilled oysters each bring out their own flavors. It's spiced up and set to be slightly spicy. You can tell that the onion soup was made with care. The sausage in the jambalaya was a fun addition. I regret not ordering toppings like fried chicken or eggs, so I aim to try the hayashi rice next time.
