Hokkaido Roaming Trip 60 In Nemuro City, there are 3 popular seafood restaurants at Nosappu Misaki. Minatoya Nosappu Misaki Donburi offers a variety of flavors for ¥2400, making it the most cost-effective option. Nemuro City has many deer! They cross the road frequently. When approaching from the west, Nosappu Misaki's hill looks like a dumpling. I went all the way to the tip and couldn't see Rishiri Island or Rebun Island due to the cloudy sea (。ŏ﹏ŏ)ミエン. The deer here are used to people, like in Nara City or Miyajima, and they munch on plants and flowers. The restaurant is a traditional souvenir shop and dining room with sunken kotatsu and table seats on the tatami and earthen floor. The menu is varied and can be overwhelming. The Nosappu Misaki Donburi is a seafood bowl with local ingredients such as sea urchin, crab, salmon roe, scallop, squid, shrimp. You can enjoy 6 popular toppings at once. If you had the same dish in Donan, it would cost around ¥4000. It's a shame that it's not vinegared rice, but the freshness of the toppings was good and delicious (*´ω`*).

I had crab fried rice. A crab fried rice was served. I felt a bit deceived because there were no photos, but it was delicious with plenty of crab. I don't often have the opportunity to eat crab fried rice, so this was good. However, it's not very cost-effective. The crab is also finely chopped, so it's unclear what kind of crab is used. Is the one on top red king crab?

In June 2023, I was in Wakkanai City in Hokkaido. I took a trip alone, like a middle-aged man with a broken kite string. After spending a night in Sapporo, I visited the town where I spent my elementary school days, Urausu, and stayed in Takikawa for a night. Then, I stayed in Nakagawa, where I was born. I had a nostalgic and enjoyable time. Now, I am heading towards Wakkanai, bid farewell by the innkeeper. Along the way, I plan to stop for coffee and think about various things. However, the 90-minute journey to Wakkanai was uneventful! It was just pastures, silos, and such landscapes all the way. When I finally reached Wakkanai, the joy of discovering a Seico Mart was indescribable! I bought souvenirs, ate scallop ramen at the northernmost restaurant, and visited a restaurant on a hill. Still feeling bored, I decided to go to Nosappu Misaki. I looked around and thought, "I see, interesting." Then I went to a local restaurant. While the dishes were all seafood, that's what you get in Hokkaido. I ordered the Nosappu Misaki bowl with a little rice. The food was served warm with a lineup of sea urchin, crab, shrimp, scallop, and squid. The rice was warm and tasty. The food was served promptly, and the restaurant was quite busy by the time I left. I prefer this type of rice over vinegar rice. The seafood was all delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Located at Nosappu Cape in Wakkanai City, Hokkaido, "Minatoya" is a dining establishment known for its ramen and seafood. Although details about its founding year are unclear, the restaurant was featured on the TV show "Can I Charge with Tetsuro Degawa?" I had seen this place while visiting other famous restaurants in Nosappu Cape like "Fisherman's Shop" and "Karafuto Shokudo," so I had planned to visit "Minatoya" next time. On this holiday Monday, I arrived at around 7 am for breakfast, as I had read on Tabelog that they open at 7 am during the summer. However, to my disappointment, they were not open. Later, I found information on other websites stating that they open at 8 am during the summer. I decided to return around 10 am after completing other plans, and luckily, they were open. There were only two groups of customers inside at that time. Their menu mainly consists of seafood bowls and ramen dishes made with seafood. Since I had already eaten scallop bowl before coming here, I decided to try their "Seafood Ramen" which was packed with seafood. Priced at 2400 yen (tax included), it may seem expensive for ramen, but the ingredients justified the cost. The soup was made with Rishiri kombu dashi, giving it a rich and mellow flavor with a hint of wakame seaweed. The noodles were slightly soft with a chewy texture. The scallops were juicy and plump, while the tsubugai had a crunchy texture. The sea urchin was firm and had a strong umami flavor, and there was a generous amount of it. The crab included two legs and claws each, and the shrimp was large but slightly dry. Overall, the ramen was delicious, but I think the seafood ingredients would be better enjoyed in a seafood bowl. However, the depth of flavor in the soup might be due to the variety of ingredients. I would like to compare it with a regular salt ramen in the future. Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by Noshappu Misaki and Soya Misaki for sightseeing and lunch. Since the neighboring shop, Karafuto-ya, had already closed, I went to Minato-ya. It is a restaurant specializing in seafood bowls. I ordered the Seafood Tuna Bowl (uni, crab, salmon roe), but they had run out of uni, so I had the Salmon Roe and Crab Bowl instead. This is the northernmost restaurant I have ever eaten at in Japan.

Huh? When driving, I saw Ezo deer just casually there! Seriously?! Are the two behind children? I'm worried about traffic accidents. It's too cold at Nosappu Misaki. Like Cape Soya, with wind speeds exceeding 10m, the wind chill is around 5-6°C, right? And then, I aimed to visit Karafuto Shokudo on October 1st, as they were supposed to be open until mid-October. But they're already closed! They will reopen around April 20th next year... Will I come back after enduring a whole winter? So, I recovered at Minatoya (Wakkanai City) right in front of me. The dining room of the cafeteria was quiet in the early afternoon with no guests. The Minatoya Donburi for 1,500 yen is served in a bowl with sumashi, pickled radish, and konbu. The scallops, octopus, crab meat, shrimp, and squid are beautifully arranged around a center of flying fish roe. Truly, the ingredients of the port town are all fresh and delicious. The scallops are thick and chewy, providing a satisfying texture! The combination of flying fish roe and shredded crab meat is outstanding, making the meal go down smoothly. The homemade (presumably) kelp simmered dish is soft and has a chewy texture, and it's delicious! The sumashi, with a slightly high salt content, has an excellent ocean scent. The baby scallops are delightful (^-^) Be sure to try it out!

Hello, the weather has been nice in Nagai City. How is the weather in your area? Now, let's head to the northern land and arrive at Nosappu Cape. Some may think it's Noshappu Cape, but actually, Nosappu Cape is a different place. The lighthouse in the distance is Wakkanai Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in Hokkaido. There are radar facilities of the Self-Defense Forces on top of a small hill. Let's have an early lunch. I was originally aiming for the "Karafuto Shokudo" next to Minatoya, but it was closed for the season. Minatoya is also a famous restaurant often featured in motorcycle magazines. Despite the high prices, I decided to order the "Nosappu Cape Don" since I was already there. The restaurant is spacious and the "Nosappu Don" is a specialty of Minatoya. Do you want to see it? This is the luxurious "Nosappu Don" with a delicious soup. The owner mentioned that the sea urchin fishing season was over. This is steamed sea urchin, a luxurious treat. The bowl is packed with various seafood, including plenty of crab meat under the crab claws. It was a satisfying meal. Since there were no other customers, I chatted with the owner while enjoying the meal. Thank you for the delicious feast. Now, it's time to continue the journey. Have a wonderful afternoon!

The shop at Cape Noshappu in Wakkanai, Minatoya, is a delicious place for seafood bowls like sea urchin, crab, and salmon roe. The sea urchin, salmon roe, and crab were all incredibly tasty and fresh without any unpleasant smell. I devoured them in no time. If this was in Tsukiji, it would probably be expensive.

On July 15, 2019 (Monday) for lunch. When I come here, I always used to go to Karafuto Shokudo, but I decided to try this place for the first time because I didn't like the hard ikura there. The prices seem cheap too. I arrived a little before 11 am, and I was the only one in the restaurant. A couple of groups came in while I was eating. It seems like locals come here to eat ramen and such. I had the seafood bowl which had sea urchin, salmon roe, and crab, with miso soup, salted kelp, and pickles on the side. The bowl had warm rice and surprisingly a lot of toppings. The salmon roe was different from Karafuto Shokudo, it was the normal type and softer, which is better. The crab tasted like real crab, and it was quite delicious. However, the main ingredient, sea urchin, was not good. It was the kind you get in the city. Sea urchin from Noshappu should be much better. It's possible that it was just a bad day due to the continuous bad weather in the area. It's a bit disappointing today. I might consider trying a different place next time I come.

I visited this restaurant during my trip to Rebun Island for sightseeing and enjoying fresh sea urchin. The weather wasn't great and it was a bit off lunchtime, so the nearby restaurant I had in mind was closed. That's why I ended up here. The atmosphere is like a typical eatery near a fishing port, with simple pipe chairs inside. The sea urchin bowl was reasonably priced at 3000 yen. I asked for the fresh sea urchin and was surprised by the generous portion served promptly. It had a lot of purple sea urchin on top, maybe that's why. There was even more sea urchin underneath, so it was a sea urchin feast! The taste was rich and creamy, and I was very satisfied. I didn't have high expectations, so the experience exceeded my expectations. I would love to come back during sea urchin season.

I finished my business trip in Wakkanai and had lunch before heading back. My colleague had hoped to eat at the restaurant at Nosappu Misaki, but it was closed. We ended up going to a nearby restaurant called "Minatoya." I had the Futamata-don, which is a bowl with two types of toppings. I chose squid and scallops. The rice was not vinegared. It was delicious. There is also a souvenir shop attached where you can buy Russian folk crafts like Matryoshka dolls.

I visited this place based on a recommendation from a local resident of Wakkanai, and I must say the ramen here is delicious. The soy sauce ramen is light and refreshing, which is rare in Wakkanai where ramen tends to be heavily seasoned.

There are uni bowls and two-color bowls with uni and other toppings. One recommended dish is the Noshappu bowl, which is a seafood bowl with scallops and uni from Hokkaido for 2200 yen. However, this time I ordered the uni and crab two-color bowl for 2400 yen. I prefer it to be around 1980 yen. It is probably Murasaki uni. The uni doesn't have the strong taste of chemicals like some places in Tokyo, making it delicious. The crab was average, with two claws included. Most importantly, the amount of rice is like a large serving of beef bowl from Matsuya. Recommended for students and delivery riders who want to eat a lot.

I had the Minatoya Donburi. It costs over ¥1,500 but it was worth it. The scallops and squid were especially delicious. The sweet shrimp was a bit underwhelming, so if they remove that and add more of the other ingredients, it would be even better.
