This is a soup curry restaurant located in Nakajima-cho, Muroran. There are currently two soup curry restaurants in Muroran that I know of. The other one is located near Muroran National College of Technology and has been closed since April this year. I hope they will do well as they seem to be unwell. There is no parking lot at the restaurant, but since it's in Muroran, it shouldn't be a problem. The interior of the restaurant has 3 counter seats, 1 table for 4 people, and 2 tables for 2 people. The main soup curry options include Chicken for 950 yen, as well as Shrimp for 1,000 yen and Mackerel for 950 yen. Speaking of Mackerel, it reminds me of that Mackerel canned curry restaurant in Sapporo. The spiciness levels go up to 50, with levels up to 30 being free. I didn't have high expectations because it's Muroran, but the soup with two somewhat small chicken legs is delicious. In soup curry, there are generally curry-like thick soups and clear soups, and this one leans towards the clear side and tastes great. The vegetables include firm carrots, potatoes, bell peppers, and a half-boiled egg. The soup could be a bit hotter. The spiciness at level 10 is around medium, so those who like it spicy might prefer higher levels.

Eizan was sad because he had a day off, so he went to a nearby restaurant. The restaurant had a counter, tables, and a spacious layout including some dead space. The decor featured frog figurines, Southeast Asian ornaments, snacks, and beer, giving it a Balinese vibe. Eizan decided to try the seasonal Hiroshima oyster curry with a spice level of 30 out of 100. He requested a portion size between 150g and 250g of rice. When the curry was served, Eizan was a bit disappointed by the simple presentation with only large chunks of potatoes, carrots, bell peppers, and eggs, along with 5 oysters. However, he found the spiciness level to be just right, providing a refreshing kick. The soup was flavorful despite not having a strong broth taste, and Eizan appreciated the unique and satisfying taste of the curry. He felt that the spiciness added to the overall experience. Eizan mentioned that he would like to try the non-spicy version as well. The restaurant offers daily changing toppings, and Eizan observed a regular customer ordering a topping of chicken, fried egg, and spinach for around 1000 yen. The spacious kitchen and restaurant layout left a positive impression on Eizan, and he expressed his desire to visit the restaurant again.

I ordered the spicy chicken in a conventional style. I had imagined a whole chicken leg, but it was actually chopped up for easy eating. The taste was average.

TANBOO Curry & Cafe, a pioneer of soup curry in Muroran, has changed its name to Warung Gumbira and relocated multiple times while operating. I visited the current location in May this year, which was the trigger for my visit. The address listed on the Facebook page led me to a restaurant called Bistro Capriche, but after calling to inquire, I was given the correct address and eventually arrived at the restaurant. The menu offered affordable options, with chicken curry priced at 890 yen and the most expensive item at 990 yen. I chose the chicken curry as I prefer chicken in my soup curry. The difficulty came when selecting the spiciness level, which ranged from 0 to 50 in increments of 1. However, the notation indicating 0 as medium spicy, 10 as spicy, and 15 as very spicy made it confusing to interpret the spiciness scale. I decided to choose level 50, assuming that levels above 31 incur an additional charge of 60 yen and are not excessively spicy. The restaurant was bustling with nearby office workers during lunchtime, so the service was a bit slow. The soup curry arrived in a smaller bowl compared to those in Sapporo, with chicken thigh meat and quail eggs. Despite the cost-effective approach, the soup curry was flavorful and enjoyable. The slightly thick and smooth soup suited my taste, and the spiciness was not overwhelming. I recommend asking the chef for spicier options if you prefer a stronger kick. The rice was cooked firm and complemented the soup curry well. I wish the restaurant continued success. Thank you for the meal.
