Lunch was at "Hinode Drive-in" around 1:00 pm, and it was quite crowded everywhere, so it was a bit of a struggle to find a place to eat. Although the restaurant was full, we were lucky to be seated within 2 minutes! I ordered the "Sweet Shrimp Tempura Rice Bowl (¥1045)", while my family chose the "Shrimp Omukatsu Curry (¥1194)" with a large serving (¥110) and the "Mini Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl (¥550)". The dishes arrived around 10 minutes after ordering. The sweet shrimp tempura rice bowl was quite luxurious with 6 pieces of sweet shrimp and other ingredients like shishito peppers, pumpkin, and eggplant. The tempura batter was more crispy than crunchy, and it seemed to be made with wheat flour instead of tempura flour. Even though it wasn't served piping hot, the sweet shrimp was delicious and could be eaten without peeling the shells. The pumpkin was sweet and had a nice texture. The shrimp omukatsu curry had smaller cutlets than indicated on the menu, and the presentation included cucumber instead of asparagus. The cutlets were crispy on the outside, tender and sweet on the inside, and well-seasoned. The egg was cooked perfectly with a creamy texture and a hint of sweetness. The curry sauce was home-style, with vegetables adding a sweet and flavorful depth. The mini pork cutlet rice bowl had a generous portion size for a mini dish, and the size of the cutlets was a highlight. The sweet shrimp tempura rice bowl came in a surprisingly large container with a proportional amount of rice, making it a filling meal. After seeing only two reviews for the restaurant further down the road, I am curious to try dining there next time I visit Rain Ryu Town. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I found this unique restaurant called "Hinode Drive-in" on my way. The inside is quite spacious, with a diner-like atmosphere. Despite the smoking ban in this era of cigarette price hikes, there are ashtrays around. It's a drive-in after all! Looking at the menu, I came across something with a striking appearance. It seemed like a calorie bomb or a manifestation of indulgence. Let's try it out. The drink bar is included as well. While sipping on cola, I eagerly awaited my order. And here it is! I ordered the "Shrimp," "Omelette," and "Cutlet" Curry! Double the shrimp! Double the omelette! Plus, add cutlet for double the impact! All mixed into the curry for a double dose! The curry arrived, with tonkatsu and shrimp fry floating in the curry sea! A massive omelette sleeping in the curry sea! A red ketchup rice hidden beneath the continent! ...I kind of regret it. It's not as huge as a special serving, so I can finish it, but it's heavier than expected. It was tasty, but my stomach is full. I didn't expect the omelette curry part to be actually ketchup rice. Ketchup rice and curry surprisingly don't go well together (laughs). The variety is good, and aside from the smoking, the restaurant seems user-friendly. It seems they also run another restaurant nearby, so they must be quite famous in this area. I might come back to eat here again on another occasion. Next time, I'll go for something lighter.

I had the Ebiomu Katsu Curry for 1080 yen. It was neither good nor bad, just average.

Midsummer (now winter) happened to go see a sunflower field and on the way back, the place to eat was closed, no convenience store, even the roadside station was closed, so is this the countryside? When I was at a loss, I remembered this drive-in, which is open late (until around 7 pm?), and I was not frowned upon, which left a good impression. They even served yakiniku and there were customers coming in. Maybe it was just by chance? My wife had ramen, I had soba, and my son, for some reason, had a parfait. In terms of cost performance, the taste was not exceptional but not bad either, just decent. It's actually quite difficult to find a local restaurant that is cheap, delicious, and with generous portions. That's why it's important to do various things to attract customers and maintain stable business. I wish some transport companies could learn from this. Overall, I think it's great. Thank you for the meal.
