【Takeout】Located in the Sapporo streetcar area, Toko Store is a chain brand of the Arks Group, which operates supermarkets in Tohoku and Hokkaido. Established in 1972, Toko Store is currently expanding mainly in the Sapporo area. The store is located along Nana 6-dori, west of 15 blocks, a little over 40m towards the mountains from the intersection with the streetcar line. It's about a 3-4 minute walk from the streetcar Nishi Line 6-jyo stop. Visited for the first time around 3 pm on December 8, 2022. I've been in this area for a while, so I've learned the geography and I'm exploring around. Unlike in dreams, where zombies, monsters, and UFOs attack, the town is safe as long as you watch out for cars. Purchased items: ready-made mapo tofu with minced meat - not a fan of beef flavor, right? Of course, it's not spicy. If they were selling super spicy mapo tofu, it would be a tragedy for me. Dumplings - as a supermarket side dish, they are at a satisfactory level. Toko Store Otoyachi was pretty good, but this store is also quite nice.

I visited "Tokou Store Nishisen 6-jo Store". "Tokou Store" is one of the three major supermarkets in Hokkaido, part of the "Arks Group". The Arks Group is the largest supermarket chain in Hokkaido, with an annual revenue exceeding 500 billion yen. It is listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Along with "Aeon Hokkaido Group" and "Co-op Sapporo", they hold 70% of the market share in Hokkaido. The market share in Hokkaido is as follows: Arks Group 25.8%, Co-op Sapporo 21.6%, Aeon Hokkaido Group 21.4%. They have been expanding by absorbing prominent supermarkets in various areas of Hokkaido under the umbrella of "Larls". This "Tokou Store Nishisen 6-jo Store" is located in an area close to my usual hospital, making it easy to stop by after a visit. There is only one parking space for wheelchairs, but there is always parking staff on duty, so it is often available. It is a convenient supermarket to use. The Tokou Store Maruyama Store has four parking spaces for wheelchairs. However, there is no parking staff, so the wheelchair parking spaces are not managed. Therefore, even though there are four spaces, they are often unusable because they are occupied by regular vehicles. I have made complaints, but there has been no improvement. Currently, the Nishisen 6-jo Store, which has only one parking space for wheelchairs, is easier to use than the Maruyama Store. The presence or absence of staff in the parking lot makes a huge difference. Whether it's a supermarket or anywhere else, wheelchair parking spaces in areas without staff are often occupied by regular vehicles. It's a really frustrating situation. I happened to find "Kagoshima Prefecture Satsuma Black Wagyu Shabu-Shabu Momo 4th Grade" at half price. I bought it and had a delicious dinner. Kagoshima Prefecture Satsuma Black Wagyu Shabu-Shabu Momo 4th Grade 100g 1,166 yen It was quite good quality meat, with a soft and melting texture. Beef is indeed a reliable Wagyu. In advanced countries like the United States and Canada, there is a system of fines for regular people parking in wheelchair parking spaces. I have heard that many Japanese people end up paying fines. I hope Japan will introduce a fine system as well. I think it would lead to significant improvements. It's a sad state of Japanese manners. Considering the service aspect greatly, I rated it 4.1 stars. It is a supermarket with proper service, which is very important. Next time, I might choose a day with a "9" for many great deals. The price is a bit high, but it's not bad, right?

In June 2015, I visited the "Tokou Store Nishisen 6-jo Store". Tokou Store used to be called "Tokyu Store" in the past. Now, it is one of the three major supermarkets in Hokkaido, belonging to the "Lalz" group. The other two are Aeon and Sapporo City Co-op. When it was "Tokyu Store", they used to have special sales on days with a "9" in them. Even after becoming "Tokou Store", they have continued this tradition on days with a "9". I visited with my usual companion on one of these days. This store is located in the Yamahana-Nishisen area of Chuo-ku, Sapporo, near the Nishisen streetcar line. For the exact location, please check on Tabelog. At this Nishisen 6-jo store, they make sushi right behind the store's sales floor. Sometimes you can see them making sushi through the glass. It's a bit different from other supermarkets. We had the "Tokou Day Special - 2 servings of fresh sushi with 9 varieties" limited to days with a "9". The price is 1,090 yen excluding tax and 1,177 yen including 8% consumption tax. It's the same price as the old Tokyu Day. It includes 18 pieces, so while it's not high-end, it's quite decent. One serving has 9 pieces and costs 589 yen including tax. The rice is much better than at a conveyor belt sushi place. Among Tokou Stores, this store's hand-rolled sushi is exceptional. I would like to try buying it on a "9" day at other Tokou Stores where you can't see them making it. I want to compare the differences. It seems like the next visit will also be on a "9" day. Today, I had some free time so I decided to treat myself to some new soba noodles from "Karamatsu" as a souvenir. I quietly went home for lunch and boiled the noodles. Of course, I topped them with tempura. I also bought shrimp tempura and shrimp tempura for only 100 yen each. The tempura was thick and satisfying to eat, with a good texture from the small shrimp. I couldn't finish everything, but I also bought Matsutake rice for 298 yen. It has a wonderful aroma. It may be from North Korea or China, and it might be fake Matsutake, but to me, it tastes delicious. Call me a taste fool and make fun of me for never having eaten anything good. My wife refused to eat the Matsutake rice, saying it smelled fake. She also didn't want me to buy the Matsutake rice mix from the supermarket. By the way, Tsubo Hachi in Honshu offers Matsutake rice on their menu this season. I didn't expect to find this information on Togok's Eatery, so there are no photos.
