In March 2022, I visited a station on the Eniwa Road, where they have a great selection of fresh vegetables. They offer some unique vegetables that you don't see often, which is why I love this place. This time, I purchased Italian parsley and cavolo nero seedlings. The stems are strong and the roots are healthy for all the seedlings they sell here. The Italian parsley has firm and plentiful stems, while the cavolo nero, also known as black cabbage, can even be eaten up to the flowers. I seasoned them with olive oil, garlic, and salt, and they were delicious. These vegetables are low in water content and highly recommended.

I bought fresh vegetables at Kanona. They have a wide variety of locally grown vegetables that are very fresh and affordable. I bought komatsuna, wasabi greens, and a bag of asparagus tips for only 50 yen. It's amazingly cheap! Some parts of the asparagus are tough to eat, but you can boil them, strain them, and use them in soup or peel them and make a sesame dressing. The third picture is the asparagus tip soup I made as soon as I got home. It's delicious! Plus, it's great for older folks like me because the asparagus tips have less purine than the stems and they're sweet. Gout is scary, but this makes me feel a bit more at ease. The last picture shows the purine content. I'll definitely buy it again!

I stopped by Kanona after going to Starbucks. I was intrigued by the bread at Patisserie Inui, so I decided to buy some. While I was looking at the croquettes, the lady told me they were freshly fried and handed me a beef croquette, so I ended up buying it (lol). I also bought some sweet Aoi Sora Megumi rice crackers that I like. The vegetables, other than potatoes, seemed a bit pricey to me.

I visited Kanona at the Enbetsu Michi no Eki and bought some San Marco's sweet potato mochi, nameko mushrooms, and nagaimo. The sweet potato mochi was delicious with the sauce soaked in. I heard that you have to go early because they sell out quickly. There are customers waiting even before they open. It's amazing how fast they sell out.

【Visit in August 2023】I got some boiled shrimp. It was incredibly delicious!! Of course, I also bought some freshly picked Megumi Gold. Today, I bought a lot of vegetables!【First posted in August 2022】I visited at 9 a.m. but there was a long line. I gave up and revisited in the evening. Most of the vegetables were sold out but there were fewer people so I could take my time inside the store. There was a 10% OFF campaign at checkout today. I was asked by the staff if I wanted to buy broccoli at half price, so I bought it. I also purchased cherry tomatoes and Yomogi Mochi from Keitoan for 80 yen, which were soft and chewy and quite delicious. They also sell Marutoma's Hokki Curry. Thank you very much.

This year's Golden Week, my daughter is returning home. As a doting parent, I always go to Chitose Airport to pick her up. Therefore, it's time for our annual revisit series. One of the highlights of picking her up at Chitose Airport is visiting "Kanona," which is located at a roadside station. They have a wide variety of fresh vegetables from Ebetsu. I especially look forward to the spring-like feeling of their tempura and kinpira made with "udo." As for asparagus, it might still be early in the season, probably greenhouse-grown. I bought some for grilling as usual, along with other vegetables. So far, my favorite places are "Kanona" in Ebetsu and "Vegetable Station" in Shinotsu.

I wanted to indulge in a salad feast after a long time, so I visited Kanona in Ebetsu! I used to go there often, and it had been a while since my last visit, but it was just as good as I remembered! It was very crowded even in the morning. My favorite salad spinach was sold out... I bought a salad set and other salad vegetables. As always, the vegetables here are great, much better than the supermarket. I should have come a bit earlier!

In Ebetsu City, fresh vegetables and locally produced goods are sold at reasonable prices. Recently, I have had more opportunities to visit Ebetsu, Ebetsu, Minami-Horo, and Naganuma for work, and I envy the unique direct sales vegetable shops that are nearby. Displays related to Kyuhara Honke, which operates a factory in Ebetsu City, are prominent. There is also a corner for Maruha Seimenjo, a local noodle factory in Ebetsu, where fresh ramen that usually costs 1,500 yen is sold for 500 yen. It was a short but enjoyable time. I would like to come back and visit more leisurely next time.

In November, I visited the first roadside station "Hana Road Eniwa" in Eniwa City, Hokkaido. I went to the adjacent building to buy the "fresh produce" I was looking for. Kanona Fresh Market @ "Hana Road Eniwa" in Eniwa City. The store is a vegetable store located next to the main building. When I visited in late November, the selection of local vegetables was limited, but there were Eniwa City and nearby cities like Chitose on display. Many customers were visiting and purchasing various items, creating a lively atmosphere. We also bought various vegetables for everyday use. ★ Lettuce @ 140 yen The lettuce felt heavier than expected for a loose head type, maybe it had a lot of moisture. It had a lot of edible parts and was fresh and juicy. It was delicious even when mixed with kimchi for a salad. This Eniwa-grown lettuce was a great find. ★ Turnip @ 180 yen All parts of the turnip were usable, so we used most of the leaves for side dishes and rice accompaniments. The main part was used for salad and turned out well. This was also a great find. ★ Cherry Tomatoes @ 150 yen The skin was slightly thick and the sweetness was a bit low, but they were from Chitose, Hokkaido, so they were appropriate for this time of year. They were okay. ★ Garlic @ 300 yen It was from the Yoko Farm in Eniwa. Some were used in cooking and some were frozen for later use. It was versatile and worked well. Overall, I was satisfied with the variety of produce. In conclusion, it is rare to find a shop where you can buy "fresh local vegetables" at a roadside station near Sapporo, so I definitely plan to visit again in the future. Thank you for the meal.

When heading to the airport on the next road, there is a convenient Michi-no-Eki (roadside station) in Ebetsu. I stopped by for using the restroom, adjusting the time, and buying some drinks. Then, I went to Kanona. On the last day with just one tote bag left. I decided to put something in the empty space of the bag before going back. When I looked around the store, I found some Furano melons that were almost at the end of the season. The shape and packaging were not bad. It seemed like a perfect souvenir. However, it wouldn't fit in the bag, so I had it delivered. There was a space for delivery application inside the store, so I added other items I wanted and had them all shipped. The melon arrived a few days later. It still looked a bit firm, so I waited for the right time to cut it. It was sweet and had a good melon aroma. It was delicious. I also had some edamame sent along with it, and enjoyed them with beer. The edamame was a type called Tamafukura, with larger beans compared to the usual edamame. Edamame and melon. I thought to myself, this might be the last taste of the year.

Next to the station of Michi to Hana, Hana Road Eniwa, there is a direct sales store of Eniwa agricultural products called "Kanona." They offer fresh local vegetables and flowers. Prices include: Kuushinsai (Chinese lettuce) for 180 yen, Broccoli for 130 yen. Also, there is a ramen corner from "Maruha Seimenjo," a noodle shop established in Eniwa City in 1964. I purchased Kumakichi Ramen (soy sauce flavor) 4-pack for 280 yen and Hiyachu 4-pack for 280 yen. Location: Eniwa Agricultural Products Direct Sales Store "Kanona (Flowers, Vegetables)" 817 Minamishimamatsu, Eniwa City.

I found various deli items at Kanona. They have Sancante's Napolitan, San Marco's croquettes, and more. It's rare to see Inari sushi at Patisserie Inui! I didn't know a bakery could make Inari sushi. I'll give it a try. Also, the beef croquette from San Marco is a safe choice. The Inari sushi is sweet and delicious (*^o^*) Enipan is also delicious, and I'm happy that I can buy deli items at Kanona.

Revisited Megumino in Ebetsu City in May 2021. Couldn't resist stopping by the "Michi-no-Eki" (roadside station) with its attached farmers' market. Representing the local area is Yoko Farm, along with fresh vegetables and flowers from farmers in Ebetsu. This time of year, there is a wide variety of flower and vegetable seedlings available. I think this Michi-no-Eki and farmers' market are the most fulfilling in the Hokkaido region. I particularly enjoy the many interesting leafy greens available. "Cilantro," "Japanese ginger," "turnip greens," "watercress," "heavier leaf," "shiitake mushrooms," "sausage," and "Japanese ginger" are delicious with vinegar miso. "Cilantro" is great in a salad with baby greens. Lightly salt the "watercress," and enjoy the "shiitake mushrooms" as is or grilled. I can't wait to see the variety of field-grown produce increase even more.

Eniwa Michi-no-Eki. A roadside station that you almost always stop by at least once. Located halfway between Sapporo and Chitose, it's perfect for a quick restroom break. Next to the roadside station, there is a shop selling vegetables and more, that's here. Since I usually only have a bag on my way back, I buy some vegetables like asparagus and throw them into the bag. This time, there were fewer green vegetables, but there were root vegetables like sweet potatoes and burdock. I bought a bag of Inca's Awakening for 210 yen. I also bought some seasonings like pork chop mix that I don't usually see. In the refrigerated case of processed products, there was only one daifuku. Haskap!? Does it have jam inside the mochi? Or does it have haskap berries inside the sweet bean paste? I bought one to find out. I spent a little over a thousand yen and left the shop. I ate it at home later. It has haskap mixed in with red bean paste. I couldn't see the actual berries, but the red bean paste had a slight purple color. The flavor of the haskap was really nice when I ate it. Wow, it's interesting. Eniwa is close to Sapporo and Chitose, and has plenty of agricultural products. Living in a place like this would be nice.

"Kanona" has moved to a newly established building on the premises and reopened. The clean and fresh interior is filled with local fresh vegetables and processed foods as usual. It seems like the sales floor has become a bit wider and the items have increased slightly. This time, I purchased corn, edamame, and broccoli. Every summer, I visit several times in search of freshly picked corn and summer vegetables. Once you taste freshly picked corn, you can't eat the ones sold in supermarkets. Summer is coming to an end, but how many more times will I be able to go this year? Thank you for the delicious meal.

Visited the Kinenono area in Ebetsu City again in July 2020. It seems that the "Michi no Eki Hana Road Ebetsu" has been renovated, and the adjacent "Kanona" has also changed its location and renewed its name. It's been a year since my last visit in August last year. I always love "Kanona" because they have a great selection of vegetables and flowers. This time, my family bought "basil," "baby leaf lettuce," "okra," "watermelon," "corn," "bell pepper," "zucchini," and "tomato." All the vegetables were cheap and delicious. The tomatoes, in particular, were incredibly sweet. We made a Caprese salad with them, and it was delicious. My daughter loves Caprese salad. Today, she is returning home. It's been a while since we had a family gathering.

I had known for a while that there was a shop at the Michi-no-Eki Hanaroad Eniwa selling agricultural products, but I didn't realize that they had moved within the premises, so I thought they had closed down. When I used the Michi-no-Eki, I noticed a building in the back. Upon closer look, the name seemed familiar. So I decided to stop by. The store was spacious, with a considerable number of vegetables being sold. I'm not sure about the prices or how fresh they were, as I don't usually pay much attention to that. I bought some asparagus (which I always boil with salt) and some fresh somen noodles, which are rare to find. I enjoyed them at home.

The station building at Eniwa Michi-no-Eki has been renovated, and the direct sales area has been moved and upgraded to a "Fresh Plaza". Previously open from spring to autumn, it is now open year-round. Here are some of the items available:
- Kanano Pork Loin Cutlet for 380 yen
- Pumpkin Roll for 280 yen
- Kabocha Pumpkin Pudding from Megumi no Niwa for 370 yen
- Satsumaimo Sweet Potato Pudding from Megumi no Niwa for 370 yen
There are various vegetables, processed products, goods, and handmade masks available. If you're looking for tonkatsu, there's a tonkatsu restaurant in Eniwa called Konayuki Tonton. The pumpkin roll is from Inui in Ebetsu and is moist and delicious. You can also find the pudding that you may have bought in Chitose. The pumpkin pudding is a specialty, and Lisboa, a curry restaurant in town, may have closed, but they still produce items like this pudding. The sweet potato pudding is also unique and worth trying. Both the pumpkin and sweet potato have a fibrous texture that is recognizable in the taste. Enjoy your meal!

In August 2019, I returned to Tokyo to send my daughter back to New Chitose Airport. As always, I am the "proud parent" in charge of pick-up and drop-off. This time, it's a regular day, so the airport isn't too crowded. On the way back, we stopped by the "Michi-no-Eki Hanaroad Eniwa" in Eniwa, which I always visit. Our main destination was the direct market "Kanona" located there. In spring, they have seedlings and flowers, while from summer to autumn, Eniwa's local agricultural products are on display. Recently, farmers have been growing a variety of vegetables beyond the usual "cucumbers," "green peppers," and "eggplants." This time, I wanted to buy some "kangkong," but it was sold out. I did find some "coriander," so I bought it right away. It's what we call "cilantro." It's milder than the authentic Asian version, but you can still taste the flavor. I also bought some "herbs" for color and flavoring in dishes, "myoga" for tofu and homemade pickles, and "white lady" corn, which is quite rare. The direct market is always crowded. Although we just pass through Eniwa, we always end up stopping by this "Michi-no-Eki" (roadside station).

This is a roadside station in Eniwa... I think this is the best place to buy "corn and summer vegetables". The freshness is good and the prices are reasonable, it's a great store, right? I take the corn home and boil it. I like it without any seasoning, just as it is. It's sweet and juicy! The best! However, corn is high in calories, haha. Thank you for the meal~

I look forward to it every year. By the way, this year the corn has a sugar content of 18.5 degrees and is deliciously sweet! And it's only 140 yen for a super large one, which is so cheap (laughs). It's delicious even when microwaved with the husk left on, and it's also great for corn rice and tempura!
