This is the second restaurant in Osaka. After leaving "Honki Seimen," it took about 7 minutes on foot to arrive at "Shouki." The name "Shouki" sounded familiar to me, so when I was looking at Google Maps near Higashi-Mikuni Station, I thought, "Oh, Shouki is here!" and added it to my list of potential second restaurants. I also chose it because it is open all day. I arrived for a late lunch at 2:25 PM, with two customers already inside. I bought a ticket for the "Shoyu Ramen for 800 yen" from the ticket machine. I handed over the ticket and was seated at a table with an acrylic partition. "Shouki" opened in November 2011 and moved and reopened in Higashi-Mikuni in June 2020. They also had a sister store in Nagano, which gained popularity but has since closed. They also have stores in Higashi-Mikuni and Juso. The ramen had a good balance of animal and seafood flavors, with a rich taste of bonito flakes. The noodles were homemade, thin straight noodles with a hint of wheat flavor. The rare chashu and bamboo shoots were high-quality toppings. It was delicious! I was tempted by the side menu items like chashu rice bowl, but I resisted and finished my meal. Now, should I go to the third restaurant after checking into the hotel, or should I head there now? Let's head to Higashi-Mikuni Station for now.

Non-additive soy sauce ramen! The clear aroma of dried bonito broth rises from the soup, and the presentation is beautiful, making it a picturesque ramen! There is a growing number of ramen shops that are particular about being additive-free, which is great. The soup is clear and refreshing, with a hint of richness without the bitterness of bonito overpowering. It's not like a bonito ramen where the bonito flavor is strong upfront. It feels more like a gentle bonito broth in a Chinese-style ramen. It's delicious. However, the onions in this ramen might be better if they were chopped a bit finer. When you bite into the onions, the flavor can be a bit overpowering, dominating the entire mouth. By blending it in a bit more, the overall balance and the goodness of the onions can come out.

A ramen shop known for its anchovy soup and chewy noodles
■ Overview
Located a 7-8 minute walk from Sangoku Hill Station, the shop is situated along the main street of Kumano Osaka Line. It is a typical ramen specialty shop with a chic exterior. The interior is divided into counter and table seats, with a spacious seating arrangement that allows for a relaxed dining experience. Today, I had the lunch set with pickled vegetables and rice. The pickled vegetable and rice set includes a choice of ramen or rice at no extra cost, making it a good value option. As for the taste, the anchovy soup without chemical seasonings paired with chewy medium-thick noodles.

First visit! The exterior and interior of the restaurant are both clean and beautiful! There are four table seats and about three counter seats. I ordered the special soy sauce ramen! The straight noodles here are my favorite thin noodles and delicious! The rare chashu is also excellent! I want to try challenging all the menu items here!

I entered the restaurant before 12 o'clock on a weekday. Since it is a bit far from the station, there was still seating available at this time. I ordered the special soy sauce ramen for 1,000 yen at the ticket machine. For lunch on weekdays, there are options like highball rice set for 800 yen and cha-mayo bowl set for 1,000 yen. You can choose between soy sauce and salt for the ramen. The special ramen comes with additional toppings like 2 pieces of chicken chashu, 1 piece of pork belly chashu, 1 seasoned egg, seaweed, menma, and onions from Awaji. The noodles are thin straight noodles. The soy sauce broth, despite its color, is light but flavorful and very delicious. The only downside is that the staff's chatter can be a bit distracting, but overall, it's a satisfying restaurant.

I think it would be great for people who are conscious about their health. I had the special salt ramen, which was lightly flavored but you could still taste the bonito, and I really liked it. The seasoned egg was delicious. It was quite a walk from the station. It seems they are only open for a short time during lunch. Thank you for the meal.

It's a nearby place but I haven't been able to visit because they only serve lunch. I visited for the first time at 11 o'clock, the opening time, and was able to get in as the first group. I had the tsukemen for 1,100 yen, which had thin noodles similar to regular ramen noodles. The dipping soup was hot and delicious, but I want to try the ramen next time. I would like to try the tsukemen with thick noodles! My companion had the lunch set with ramen and a char-mayo bowl for 1,000 yen. It seems like you can get a large serving of ramen or rice.

This restaurant has delicious soy sauce! I ordered the special Chinese noodles for 1,000 yen with extra noodles for 100 yen. I chose soy sauce over salt. After a short wait, the dish arrived. It came with rare shoulder chashu, pork belly chashu, seaweed, bamboo shoots, onions, green onions, and a seasoned egg as luxurious toppings. The straight thin noodles paired well with the soy sauce soup. Each topping was also well-prepared. It was a satisfying lunch after a long time since my last visit. Thank you for the meal.

Zhong Kui from Toh Sangoku. I had been curious about it for a while and finally made my first visit. I am weak to the word "rich," so I tried the "ultimate rich soy sauce" ramen. It didn't have the same impact as Toyama Black, but it was delicious with just the right richness and a smooth texture. The onions were a nice accent. I ordered the chashu rice bowl, planning to share it with my child, so I chose the seared chashu instead of rare. They didn't eat it, but it was delicious with a nice smoky flavor. This is a place I would go to regularly if I didn't have to worry about my blood pressure. #ZhongKui #UltimateRichSoySauce #OsakaRamen #OsakaGourmet

A light soy sauce ramen shop. Visited in the early afternoon on a rainy day. Due to the heavy rain, there were few customers, only 2-3 groups coming in and out. The refined soup with concentrated umami from the dried fish and the thin, wheaty noodles complemented each other well. The chashu was not too heavy and the ramen was well-balanced. Thank you for the meal.

Located in Tohsangoku, this ramen shop offers a light and refined menu with a focus on Chinese noodles. I visited for lunch and ordered the soy sauce flavor with rice and pickled vegetables set for 800 yen. The broth was light and subtly seasoned, with a delicate Japanese flavor. The noodles were neatly arranged and had a refined appearance. They were of a standard thickness and easy to eat. Thank you for the meal.

Chuka soba soy sauce chashu don
The soup of the Chinese soba is a soy sauce soup mixed with dried bonito and seafood. The straightforward seasoning was delicious. It matched well with the noodles. The chashu was easy to eat and paired well with the soup. It had a good chewy texture. I like nori, so wrapping it around the noodles and eating it combined the nori flavor with the soup, stimulating my appetite. The chashu don was normal. It lacked a punch, so it might have been better with some mayonnaise. Thank you for the meal.

I visited at 11 am on a weekday. There is no parking lot, so I bought a special Chinese noodles for 1,000 yen including tax from a vending machine. You can choose between salt and soy sauce, and I chose soy sauce. The noodles are completely homemade using domestic (Chikuma's blessing) ingredients. There is no fishy smell, and the taste is gentle on the body. The soup is delicious with a fishy aroma without any additives. I drank it all up (^ ^) The toppings include green onions, onions, bamboo shoots, flavored egg, two types of chashu, and seaweed, all of which have a natural and delicious flavor ❤️ It was delicious, thank you for the meal (^_^)

I ordered the special soy sauce-flavored ramen. The noodles were firm with a straight thin texture, and the soy sauce flavor had a hint of sweetness. You could slightly taste the fish broth (not bonito), but if it bothers you, you can add some pepper from the table. The soup was not too heavy, and the noodles were slurp-worthy. I enjoyed finishing the bowl with two types of chashu, seasoned egg, seaweed, bamboo shoots, onions, giving it a truly "special" touch (laughs).

I visited for lunch around 13:30 on a Thursday afternoon. There was one customer already inside. I saw a sign at the entrance offering a lunch set with a choice of extra noodles or rice for free, and decided to go in. I purchased a ticket from the vending machine inside.
I ordered a soy sauce ramen with extra noodles and a pork bowl for 1,000 yen, along with a bottle of Asahi beer for 500 yen. While I was taking a picture of the beer bottle, the hot ramen was brought to me quickly. The kitchen staff worked efficiently and smoothly, impressing me with their skills.
The soup, flavored with dried fish, was clear and beautiful, and the noodles were cooked perfectly al dente. The pork bowl was served in a small bowl but with a generous portion. As soon as I entered, more and more customers came in, but the staff managed to serve everyone quickly and efficiently.
I have been to famous ramen shops where you have to wait in line, even after placing your order. Many of these places make you wait even after being seated. In contrast, the way this restaurant handles things is truly commendable. I was impressed by the speed and efficiency of their service. The taste, the hot food, and the service were all excellent.

The soft ambiance of the restaurant, with jazz music playing in the background, possibly due to the female staff, sets a pleasant tone. The noodles are thin and firm, with soy sauce or salt as the main options. I opted for the beautiful soy sauce base, which had a clear and enjoyable flavor. The large serving of noodles with extra pickled mustard greens and rice in the lunch set for 800 yen is quite reasonable. Overall, the ramen has a refreshing taste that could be enjoyed daily. It's a great place for a light and satisfying meal. Thank you for the meal! (╹◡╹)

Head to Zhong Kui's Dong Sangoku store. There are many ramen shops around Dong Sangoku station, but this one is a bit of a distance from the station. The interior of the store is a small space with counter seats and table seats. The menu includes Chinese soba (soy sauce or salt), special rich soy sauce, and tsukemen. I tried the special soy sauce from the signature menu. A vibrant bowl with simmered egg. Toppings include low-temperature cooked rare chashu, pork belly chashu, bamboo shoots, seaweed, and more, unique to the special. The soup has a prominent dried fish flavor. The rich taste of the soup, with a chicken base, animal broth, and bonito, goes well with the umami of the dried fish. The soy sauce base is smooth, gentle, and has a hint of sweetness, creating an exquisite soup. The medium-thin straight noodles mix well with the soup. The noodles have a strong wheat flavor and are delicious. The texture and smoothness make it easy to eat with chopsticks. Among the toppings, the simmered egg is delicious. The rare chashu is good, but the thick pork belly is especially outstanding. The soft texture and the deliciousness of the meat spread out. A delicious dried fish Chinese soba, thank you for the meal.

August 28, 2022. The hot summer is finally coming to an end, and today is a cool day perfect for going out. Let's go have some delicious ramen for lunch. I decided to visit Shouki in Higashi-Mikuni, a place I've been wanting to try for a while. I arrived at the restaurant a little after 11:05 and was the first customer. I purchased a ticket for the "Special Chinese Noodles for 1,000 yen" at the ticket machine by the entrance. In less than 10 minutes, my ramen arrived. It came with thin straight noodles, two types of chashu, seasoned egg, seaweed, green onions, and bamboo shoots. The soup was slightly sweet and clear, very tasty. The containers for shichimi pepper and pepper were stylish. Thank you for the meal!

I think delicious ramen can be classified into three categories: ① Ramen enthusiasts' favorite, ② General public's impressed, ③ Michelin Guide lovers. And this one falls into category ③, the Michelin Guide lovers' taste! (Source: self-research) It reminds me of a high-quality French consomme soup. The rich flavor of the meat is condensed, all impurities are removed, and you can feel a surprisingly deep umami. The soup here is similar to a French consomme soup in its concentrated richness. However, it's so complex that it's hard to fully understand. There's no overpowering soy sauce or bonito flavor, it's just a fantastic harmony of flavors. The homemade slightly al dente straight noodles are neatly arranged in the bowl, and their appearance and taste are truly divine. This remarkable ramen makes the side dish of char-mayo rice bowl seem quite ordinary with its mayonnaise flavor. Well, each to their own.

About a 10-minute walk from Higashi-Sango Station. Today, I had lunch here. First, I purchased a meal ticket at the ticket machine. Then, I sat at the seat designated by the staff. The menu includes dishes like Chinese noodles and pork bowl. I ordered the special soy sauce Chinese noodles. Let's dig in! The Chinese noodles looked full of ingredients. Although the menu photo showed rare char siu, the actual dish had cooked char siu. The soup had a refreshing flavor with a hint of dried bonito, just like it looked. The noodles were to my liking, making it a satisfying bowl. So, bon appétit! The cheapest option is the basic noodles for 500 yen. With ramen prices rising lately, it's nice to find affordable options like this. Although, I ended up ordering the 1000 yen dish this time.

On this day, we went on a ramen crawl. The second stop was "Chukasoba Shouki Higashi Mikuni Branch". We arrived around 11:30 AM, and there was no line, so we went straight into the restaurant. We purchased tickets at the entrance ticket machine, ordering a simple soy sauce-based "Chukasoba" with an additional flavored egg topping. The soup was a flavorful fish-based soy sauce broth, and the homemade medium-thin straight noodles made from domestic wheat paired perfectly with it. The toppings included two types of chashu, bamboo shoots, chopped onions, green onions, seaweed, and the flavored egg. Both types of chashu, one rare and the other marinated in a special sauce, were delicious. We finished the soup to the last drop. It was a satisfying meal!
