The entire food court was filled with the savory smell of pork fat and sauce, which drew me in like a pioneer (laughs). It felt like a restaurant serving eel. I ordered the special serving for 1500 yen with miso soup. It took quite a while for the dish to arrive, and I had to endure the tempting aroma. The pork was piled high on the plate. Although the smell was nice, some of the pork was completely cold and the meat was tough. It was difficult to chew, reminding me of the hardships of the Hokkaido pioneers.

This is a ski resort restaurant in Tomamu. It is a pork bowl restaurant next to Ramen Takezo. As expected in Tomamu, maybe because Obihiro is close by, there are pork bowl specialty shops even on the slopes. I don't usually have high expectations for restaurants on the slopes, but the level of the pork bowl here is quite high. The pork is tender and juicy. The sauce is rich and the rice has a nice firm texture. Even when tired, with this lunch, you'll be fine!

When it comes to Obihiro, Hokkaido, it's all about pork bowl! A super delicious pork bowl specialty store has opened in Yokohama, but today I visited an authentic shop. The pork is from Eniwa. Eniwa is a town where the legality of a Self-Defense Force base was disputed. I ordered a thick cut of pork belly, but it was cooked at 800 degrees to remove the fat, so it was refreshing to eat. The square bento box was easy to eat from. I realized that the key to a good pork bowl is how lightly you finish cooking the thick pork belly!

I am at Tomamu Ski Resort. Unfortunately, the weather is not good so I can't see the sea of clouds. I decided to have lunch at the food court in the resort center. There are 7 shops open in the food court. This shop uses pork from Obihiro and special sauce made without additives. They offer three types of pork bowls: Pork bowl (980 yen) with 120g of meat and 250g of rice, Special pork bowl (1400 yen) with 200g of meat and 350g of rice, and Pork bowl with less rice (900 yen) with 120g of meat and 150g of rice. I ordered the Special pork bowl and waited for the buzzer to ring. The special Obihiro pork bowl has arrived. When I opened the bento box, I found a pork bowl with 200g of meat. I sprinkled some Sansho pepper and tasted it. The meat was tender with a savory soy sauce flavor and a hint of sweetness. The sauce was not overpowering, allowing me to enjoy it fully. I have tried pork bowls in many places as I love them, but this was the most delicious one. Tomamu Resort Center, Nakatomamu, Shimukappu, Yufutsu District, Hokkaido.
