This is a long-established bakery in Memuro Town. Similar to a cake shop, you can choose what you want from the items displayed in a glass case and make a purchase. Curry Donut (130 yen) - When I got home and was about to eat it, I couldn't tell which one was the Cheese Ball...lol. It has a generous amount of sweet and savory curry inside. Yum! Cheese Ball (130 yen) - The fried bread was delicious as expected, but the generous amount of sweet cream cheese was a pleasant surprise! It was so creamy and a new discovery! Nejiri Donut (90 yen) - Not too sweet, not too greasy, a light and fluffy donut. Odubre Tokachi (130 yen) - I love this kind of bread that is chewy and moist.

Established in 1938, Asahiya Bakery is the oldest bakery in Tokachi. The husband bakes the bread while the wife manages the register, making it a family-run business. Their melon pan has cream inside, and their baby pan has sweet red beans inside - this is the standard at Asahiya! Those who grew up feeling this was normal might find other bread lacking. They have a variety of retro pastries, and they often sell out by evening and close the shop. I was lucky to get a baguette in the evening! The crispy crust cracks with a wheat aroma, and the inside is moist and fine-textured. The bread melts in your mouth, disappearing quickly. It's been a while since I had such delicious bread. When I visited on a Saturday morning, the small shop was bustling with several customers waiting. They also offer bread made with locally sourced sweet potatoes and apples. The wheat used is mostly from Tokachi, but the type and blend of wheat vary by bread, so it's not specified on each. Reviews from customers who bought at consignment sales or local fairs mention very few additives, which is commendable. Some products are labeled as using "Tokachi wheat." It would be nice if they emphasized this more. The Deluxe Shokupan (3 loaves) is priced at 750 yen, higher than the regular shokupan at 630 yen. It seems like they haven't raised prices. When broken down per loaf, it's 250 yen, which is cheaper than a similar product from a major bakery chain. The bread is moist and fragrant, with a slightly stronger saltiness. Next, I'll try the Standard Shokupan and Cream Shokupan. The Soy Milk Bread at 150 yen is soft and smooth, with a great texture and sweetness from the soy milk. It's delicious on its own, but I tried it with unsweetened local peanut butter - a great combination. The Apple Caramel Danish at 250 yen features fresh apples coated in caramel sauce, offering a simple sweetness with a crunchy caramel texture. The buttery richness of the Danish is subtle, and the soft dough gives a nostalgic feel. It's a fun pastry with a hint of caramel and a touch of butter, unlike the rich buttery Danishes I've had before. It's a throwback to a time before I knew about those ultra-rich Danishes.

"Piroshki" 130 yen, "Cream Donut" 120 yen, "An Butter Donut" 150 yen, "Cheese Chikuwa" 150 yen, "White Rock" 130 yen. This is a place with 100% recognition among local high school alumni. This means it is quite a famous shop for the locals. Established in 1938, the long-standing bakery "Asahiya" is located in Memuro Town. There is a shared parking lot across the road, so please avoid parking on the street. Cute retro dolls are displayed outside the store. When you enter the store, the bread is placed in a glass case for you to pick up. It is hygienic and nice. I buy about 10 types of bread and take them home. "Piroshki" is delicious when warmed up to make it crispy. I have been eating "Cream Donuts" for decades, and the characteristic is the sugar on the surface. "An Butter Donut" has an incredible amount of red bean paste. Truly the best of Tokachi! If the bread in "Cheese Chikuwa" is more chewy, it would be even better. "White Rock" is a classic that has been around for years. It has been there for 40 years. A bakery with history and nostalgic memories. A place that I want to keep for a long time.

On October 13, 2021, what I can do now is to at least support food and beverage establishments while being careful. Let's all do our best together! Even though I usually don't post about food and beverage establishments without eat-in options, I wanted to show a little support during these times. Before heading to the diner right across the street, I decided to stop by "Fresh Bakery Asahiya" for a snack at 3 o'clock. It's been a while since I visited (^-^)/ Located in the town of Memuro, along Higashi 2-jo Street, opposite Tsuboya Memuro Store. The exterior is a charming two-story white building, while the interior is a cozy, long-standing bakery. It was 10:28 AM, and they have switched to a self-payment machine. I ordered a hamburger bun for 150 yen (including 8% tax) and a tuna onion slice for 130 yen (including 8% tax). The buns were soft and delicious, with a nice chewy texture. I always end up getting cooking bread in the end (laughs). I will definitely come back to buy more bread in the future. Thank you for the meal! Asahiya ☆ Business hours: 9:00-18:30 ☆ Closed on Sundays

I'm a repeat customer at this bakery! The bread is cheap and delicious. I always stop by before going camping. I always buy the bean bread and raisin bread. They have a traditional, consistently delicious taste. It may not be trendy or high-end bread, but that way you can buy a variety and enjoy it.

I went to Asahiya for the first time! I have eaten their bread before, but it was my first time actually going into the store. It's a bakery that is quite rare these days, with a display case like a cake shop. Today I bought three items: salami, salted red bean bun, and macaroni salad. There were quite a lot of options, so it was hard to choose. Let's eat them right away. The macaroni salad was soft and easy to eat, with a mild flavor. The salami was more like a sausage? It didn't taste like salami at all, haha. The salted red bean bun was quite heavy, packed full of red bean paste. The bread was quite dense, so it was a bit of a challenge to eat. It's a bakery that has been around for a long time in the town, and it makes you want to support them. Thank you, Asahiya, for the meal!

The melon bread they have at the rest stop on the Tokachi Plain expressway might be the best bread I've ever had. It has custard cream inside and is moist and delicious. It could make a great souvenir. I would rate it low.

Well, my followers kindly accompanied me to this bakery in Memuro town even in the cold weather, which made me very happy (^○^). This place was featured on NHKBS's bread travel show, and they have a great variety of sweet bread typical of Tokachi. Let's go inside - they have an amazing selection of bread! I had decided to buy the bean paste bread, but I was tempted by other options too! In the end, I bought the following bread:
- Sweet red bean paste bread (330 yen): This bread is huge, overflowing with red beans. It's like German bread, so when you warm it up in a toaster, it becomes crispy. I like to spread butter on it after toasting, that's my favorite way to eat it.
- Cutlet cheese bread (130 yen): I bought this as a side dish to enjoy with a drink. It's cutlet with cheese on top, perfect when heated up and goes well with Hoppy.
- Butter toast (110 yen): I've loved this bread since I was a child, and I used to buy it from a bakery in Mombetsu. Tokachi produces great sugar beets, so this bread is undeniably delicious.
- Screw-shaped donut (70 yen): Affordable even for children. When warmed up, it becomes a crispy and fluffy donut. I devoured two in no time!
This bakery is a local favorite, with customers coming in one after another. I definitely want to visit again. Enjoy your visit!

In the food section of Ito Yokado's Obihiro store, there is a space selling bread from several bakeries in Tokachi, including "Asahiya." Asahiya has been selling bread in the shopping street of Memuro Town for a long time and is also the owner's family business of a cake shop in Obihiro called Asahiya. I visited the store a while back, but haven't been there for a few years, so I felt like trying their bread again after a long time and ended up buying some. Print Toast (130 yen) - A thick slice of toast with a cut in the middle, sandwiched with caramel sauce. Surprisingly, the bread and caramel sauce go really well together. Black Bread (110 yen) - A bread made with black sugar, resembling steamed bread. It has walnuts and white sesame kneaded in, adding a nice accent and preventing it from getting boring. Overall Impression: The bread has a nostalgic feel to it with its old-fashioned style. I felt like visiting the store again after a long time to see their lineup.

My wife said, "There's a bakery I want to go to," so we decided to go. She said she knew the location, so we didn't use navigation. When we arrived, it was an old-fashioned bakery. There weren't many breads displayed in the showcase, maybe because it was late or they didn't have many varieties. I usually like baguettes, but we had some at home, so I wondered why we came to the bakery. I was drawn to the red bean bread. In the end, my wife didn't find what she wanted, so we bought red bean bread and a 100 yen sweet from the shopping street. The red bean bread had a lot of beans but lacked flavor. It was heavy, so I expected a chewy texture, but it wasn't sticky. Maybe the weight came from the beans. My wife toasted the rest, which made it slightly better. The remaining bread became her lunch. It was a disappointing bread experience, but this review is just for the red bean bread.

I went to "Asahiya" and stopped by because the main shop I wanted to visit was not open yet. This shop is a beloved bakery in Memuro Town. The bread is displayed in a showcase like a cake shop, and you tell the staff what you want to buy. When I went, it was right after opening so there weren't many breads in the showcase yet, and the staff was busy stocking up. I told them what I wanted, but they said, "We don't have it anymore." I was thinking there's no way that's true, and then they said, "We actually do have it." They brought out the "Chocolate Croissant" which I bought as a souvenir. For my own breakfast, I got the "Custard Bun" which I enjoyed in the car. There wasn't much filling, but the bread was fluffy and delicious. For someone like me who tends to buy everything when holding a tray and tongs, this shop helped me control myself.

The next morning, I stopped by Asahiya to buy breakfast bread. Ever since a home bakery arrived at my house, I no longer buy store-bought bread (I never really liked the big brand bread with mysterious ingredients that stay fluffy for so long). However, I still like to buy bread from Asahiya and Takahashi Kashiten in Atsubetsu when I have the chance (Takahashi Kashiten is yet to be reviewed). Before 1 pm, the nostalgic and reasonably priced bread was lined up in the store, and locals were coming in one after another to buy. I ordered a deluxe milk bread (made with milk) for 210 yen per loaf, sliced into 5 pieces. It's a self-service system where you choose your pastries, and my lunch friend was picking some pastry bread. I thought it would be nice to take a photo of their purchase as well (laughs). The next morning, I quickly toasted the bread in the toaster and spread some Yotsuba fermented butter on it. The surface was crispy and crunchy from toasting, while the inside was fluffy and sweet when chewed. It's a simple-tasting bread that I could eat every day without getting tired of it, just my style. My lunch friend tried the croissant (80 yen): It wasn't very crispy, but it was okay for the price. Strawberry Danish with Amaou strawberries (price and name not remembered): The strawberries weren't too sour, just the taste I like. The powdered sugar didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Chestnut paste pastry (similar price): It was more creamy than sweet bean paste, not really my preference. In total, it was 300 yen. For reference, the prices of other types of bread per loaf are: Regular bread 140 yen, Cream bread (made with cream) 180 yen, Danish bread (croissant-style) 370 yen. Very reasonable prices! I had the pleasure of enjoying the bread without getting tired of it every day. Thank you for the meal!

As mentioned in other reviews, there are plenty of bread options in the morning. However, by the evening, there are only 5-6 left. It seems to be like this every time. I went there once for lunch and it was very crowded, so I realized it's very popular. I recommend trying the "Satchan" bread, which has a perfect balance of sweet potato and butter. It's very delicious. Next, try the Kinako France, a long French bread with crispy kinako inside. It's really tasty. The Choco Denny and Melon Pan are also recommended (they said the Melon Pan was ranked 1st in the high school's purchase ranking). Sometimes you'll see an elderly lady and her grandchild running the store, which is very heartwarming. I hope the grandchild continues to work hard (laughs). I recommend this place, so please check it out.

This is a nostalgic bakery located in the street. When you order through the showcase, you tend to order a lot. The melon bread with cream inside is recommended. Also, the red bean bread has plenty of red beans. The savory bread can be quite filling, but it's irresistible when you're hungry. There are many delicious bakeries in Obihiro, but this one is truly a nostalgic bakery with a warm atmosphere created by the people who work there.

I visited Asahiya in Memuro Town. I had heard about it before, but it's really retro. I arrived before 11 am and there were many breads lined up in the showcase. Maybe because it was a holiday? There seemed to be a son helping out, around high school age. That was nice to see. They have a variety of bread, mostly traditional ones. I didn't count, but there were quite a few types. And all the breads are reasonably priced and quite large! (Although they feel light when you hold them.) I bought Melon Pan (100 yen), Croissant (100 yen), Raisin Roll (120 yen), and Soft French Bread (80 yen). My favorite was the Soft French Bread. I will definitely buy it again. The surface is slightly crispy and the inside is soft. I was surprised to find custard cream inside the Melon Pan. I liked that cream too. There were many other breads I wanted to try, so I definitely want to go back.

When you walk to the station to buy bread and sweets, you will find a kiosk. And guess what!! They have Asahiya's bread - cream-filled melon pan, a pack of five cheese sticks, hamburger and potato ham rolls. I want them all! I didn't even have to go to Meimuro to get them. I'm so impressed! I bought a lot (who's going to eat all of this?). Even though it's not the trendiest bread, it's from a delicious bakery. The cream donuts are amazing, coated with a generous amount of granulated sugar. Highly recommended.

This is a bakery and cake shop that has been in business for over half a century in the town of Memuro. Their branch in Obihiro city mainly focuses on cakes and sweets, with a modern atmosphere. However, this shop has a nostalgic charm with its old building that can only fit about 5-6 people. The simple bread displayed in the glass case is very reasonably priced, yet each item has various creative touches. I always end up buying too much because I get excited choosing from options like cheese tonkatsu, poteco, macaroni salad, and chocolate cheese. It's a beloved shop for me!

This shop is more like a "candy store" than a bakery, a nostalgic bakery that is becoming rare these days. The bread here is not the trendy moist type, but the charm lies in the simple naming and unchanged shape that has been the same for 20-30 years. The son used to make stylish cakes and sell them, but they were mismatched with the atmosphere here. The 4 types of soft serve ice cream also have a simple taste and are quite good.

A long-established bakery that has been in the local area for over 60 years. Loved by locals and visitors alike, the young owner is preserving the traditional flavors while also exploring new ones, such as opening a branch in Obihiro for cakes. They use locally sourced red beans and flour to make items like red bean paste buns (60 yen), melon bread with custard cream (80 yen), and cookie choux (150 yen) at affordable prices. They have long business hours, but items tend to sell out by the evening, so be cautious. Some items may even be sold out by early afternoon. The nostalgic and simple flavors, made with carefully selected ingredients like wheat, are part of the reason for their popularity.

A famous bakery in a neighboring town. I have never been to the store, but I have encountered their sales events at local supermarkets a few times, and there are always long lines. It's not common for people to line up in our city, but this bakery's sales events are always popular. As mentioned by others, their anpan and other pastries are delicious and reasonably priced. I would like to visit the store sometime. I have tried their branch cake shop in the city (but the bread is more appealing than the cakes).
