Last year, due to the impact of the coronavirus, they were not open. This time, I was able to enjoy it safely. I ordered a warm melon bread with matcha ice cream sandwiched inside. The top part of the melon bread had a crispy texture, and the combination with the sweet and delicious matcha ice cream was satisfying. Unfortunately, the rusk I wanted to buy as a souvenir was sold out by 2 PM. Eating on the chairs outside the shop, cute sparrows would come close, adding a charming atmosphere.

This is a shop in Motomachi, Hakodate that sells melon pan ice cream. They have not only plain flavor but also matcha ice cream. This time, I tried the plain melon pan ice cream. It has a strange texture with warm melon pan and cold ice cream.

If it's said to be the second most delicious melon pan in the world, you have to try it. It's a crispy melon pan with ice cream inside. I recommended it to my friend in Sendai, and they said they have it there too. Be careful because the ice cream melts and spills easily. There is no parking lot, so you'll have to use a paid parking lot or park illegally for takeout.

The first place I visited was a museum or memorial hall where I took a photo in a dress before eating. The area had a beautiful view with steep slopes that looked like a painting, often seen in movies. While strolling around, I found this restaurant. There were also nice tea houses and Japanese-style scenery, making it a perfect town. There were many temples around. The melon bread had ice cream inside, with a normal ice cream flavor but the warm melon bread and ice cream combination was amazing! The melon bread had a crispy outer layer and a fluffy inside, without the dense texture I usually don't like, making it delicious. It had the authentic feel of a bakery's bread, and I would definitely buy it if it were in Sapporo. There were always crows watching in front of the store, so be very careful as they can be scary. Maybe they need some barricades or curtains to prevent them from attacking while people are eating. Be cautious while eating on the go, as you might get attacked. Thank you for the meal!

This is a warm and cold dessert. It is small so you can finish eating it. I thought it was delicious even when eaten alone as a melon bread.

Smaller than expected. Can eat it in one bite, but the cost performance is so-so.

I went there again this year because I wanted to eat it. Last year, there was no problem, but be careful because crows come flying to steal the melon bread! The bread was warm and delicious with vanilla ice cream in between. There were crows on the telephone poles in front of the shop, so I was cautious, but unexpectedly one flew from behind and took about half of it. The owner, despite being busy, noticed and kindly gave me a new one as a service. I was happy with the unexpected service. The shop is named the second best in the world, but the owner is truly the best in the world. I am grateful.

Melon pan ice cream
A friend recommended it to me and I got hooked on making melon pan ice cream at home for a while. I happened to come across a store that sells it. I ordered it, wondering why it's the second best in the world, haha. It's just a freshly baked melon pan with ice cream sandwiched in between, but it's different from eating it at home! The crispy texture of the melon pan is different from the convenience store ones, lol. Give it a try once (*´∀`)

This is my second visit. Last time, I had vanilla ice cream. This time, I had matcha ice cream. Despite not being a fan of matcha, I enjoyed it. Sitting on the chairs provided by the shop, I watched sparrows come close and eat the fallen bread, making my time there enjoyable. I plan to come back again next year.

In the evening around 3 o'clock, before heading to the Hakodate Ropeway, I had freshly baked melon pan ice cream. The smell of melon pan outside the shop was so nice. When I placed my order, they brought out the melon pan from the oven. They cut the melon pan with a knife and sandwiched the cold ice cream inside, creating a delicious combination of warm and cold dessert. The melon pan was served with a melon pan rusk. Payment was done through a ticket system. I didn't realize that this shop is actually a chain that is spread throughout the country. I thought it was only in Hokkaido. Anyway, I couldn't resist the tempting smell of melon pan and ended up buying it. It was delicious, living up to its reputation as the second best in the world.

Next to the old Hakodate Ward Public Hall, this shop appeared in the souvenir street. It stands out compared to other shops that are trying to create a similar atmosphere. Honestly, I thought I didn't need to visit here, but I did anyway. I paid 400 yen at the ticket machine and bought a melon bread with soft serve ice cream. As advertised, they serve warm melon bread with a slit cut into it and soft serve ice cream that is similar to ice cream. It's a bit cheap for 400 yen (laughs). The quality of both the melon bread and the soft serve ice cream is decent, but I can't help thinking, "Wouldn't it be better to have them separately?" When you eat it, the melon bread crumbles, so the area is bustling with sparrows and crows. Exploring Hakodate in October was mostly cloudy or rainy. I thought the dark scenery suited this town well.

I went to "World's Second Best Freshly Baked Melon Pan Ice Cream Hakodate Motomachi Store" today. The name of the store has many points to nitpick... (laughs) I went to Motomachi Park with my niece and nephew... Pretending to be tourists, we enjoyed sightseeing in Motomachi (laughs). On the way back from sightseeing, we passed by the store and both of them said, "I want to eat it!" So, we went into the store and pressed the button for "Melon Pan Ice Cream" on the ticket machine. It arrived quickly after handing it to the staff. We sat on the bench in front of the store and ate it. The warm melon bread and cold ice cream tasted just as expected, and the temperature difference between the two was enjoyable for my niece and nephew. If I go to Motomachi again, I'll definitely stop by. Thank you for the meal.

I visited on a hot day. It's the 2nd most delicious freshly baked melon pan ice cream in the world, located in Motomachi, Hakodate. It's next to the former Hakodate Ward Public Hall, at the entrance of Soft Cream Street in Motomachi. It used to be a shop with the same name as the public hall. It was vacant for a while, at least until last autumn. I always looked at it whenever I passed by this area. But when a new shop finally opened, I didn't notice it right away. It was my first visit this time. As I walked up the slope, passed through Motomachi Park, and arrived in front of the shop, I was surprised to see so many people. Well, since I was there, I decided to try it. The shop has been featured in various media, and it's the first time in Hokkaido. The exterior of the shop is like this, no other way to describe it. Now, let's place an order. Since it's the name of the shop, let's go for the melon pan ice cream. It costs 400 yen. This shop uses a ticket machine system. There's a line formed. I lined up on the right side to buy a ticket and received the product on the left side. Most of the people around were tourists. I lined up along with a group of Chinese girls. In the midst of this chaos, I asked if it was okay to take a photo. The foreign group was chatting away. The staff said it was okay to take photos. They were too busy to worry about it. Now that I have the product in hand, let's go to my usual spot in Motomachi Park. Let's sit on the bench. The texture of the melon pan is just right, crispy and delicious. And the ice cream melts quickly. Towards the end, it becomes more like an ice cream drink. I spilled some, but I cleaned it up. Ants gather. Crows eye me. A couple next to me is being affectionate. It's a tough situation. Viva! Motomachi Park! This place seems to target tourists due to its location. It might be more convenient for local high school students to visit. Personally, I often visit this area, so it's fine for me. Next time, I'd like to visit when it's not so crowded. Thank you for the meal.
