I had breakfast at Yoridokoro, located at Enoshima Electric Railway's Inamuragasaki Station. I've wanted to visit for a few years and finally made it. I arrived around 10 AM on a weekday, and the restaurant was almost full. There was no wait, so I was able to enter right away, but soon after, a line formed. I ordered the recommended grilled mackerel set meal and added a premium egg topping. The egg topping was served first, and while waiting for the main dish, I whipped the egg whites into a meringue! With the help of the staff, I mixed for about 15 minutes, and eventually, I managed to make a nice meringue. When the set meal was served, I placed the meringue on top of the white rice, added the yolk, and drizzled some sweet soy sauce over it. The egg was rich and the meringue was fluffy! The effort made it taste even better. The grilled mackerel was a good size and well-marinated. Of course, it was delicious! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I've been curious about this restaurant. It’s located right near Inamuragasaki Station, along the railway heading towards Kamakura. It doesn't have a flashy sign and is a two-story building that was converted from a private residence. I was able to enter smoothly at 9 AM, but I imagine there would be a long line if you miscalculate your timing. I ordered the "Salted Mackerel Set Meal" and added an egg. From what I had heard, there’s a system where you make your own meringue, which I definitely experienced. For over ten minutes, I was shaking away, and by the end, my arms felt heavy! The staff helped with the finishing touches. While waiting for the fish to grill, it was a fun performance. The mackerel was large and well-cooked with nice fat content, accompanied by pickles and a small side of dried radish. The creamy meringue TKG (Tamago Kake Gohan) was really satisfying. On the way back, I took a one-station walk to Gokurakuji Station. Thank you for the meal!

Near Enoden Inamuragasaki Station, right next to the crossing, there’s a renovated old house called "Yoridokoro." I arrived around 8 AM on a Saturday, and there was a line of about five groups. Everyone wakes up early, I thought. Yoridokoro is known for its fluffy egg over rice and dried fish set meals! My wife ordered the dried mackerel set, while I chose the ASA set that comes with both mackerel and horse mackerel, plus the famous "special eggs." While waiting for the dried fish to cook, we whipped the egg whites into a merengue-like consistency, until they formed stiff peaks. It was quite a workout for us in the morning! Just as the peaks were ready, the dried fish, rice, and miso soup arrived! The egg over rice was delicious; the yolk was rich and the egg white was airy and mild (as expected). The dried fish had a crispy surface while the flesh was juicy and full of flavor—so tasty! It was a hearty and energizing breakfast! Thank you for the meal.

I visited a restaurant that is featured in Kamakura guidebooks and is very popular among international guests. The proximity to the Enoden train, with a great view of it, really excited me! I heard that the morning crowd can be quite large, so I decided to visit a bit later, but unfortunately, the morning menu was already sold out. I was guided to the regular menu before 9:00 AM. After waiting for about an hour, the weather was warm, so I managed to endure it. The interior had various seating options including a counter, tables, and tatami mats, while outside there were terrace seats with a view of the Enoden train. Which seat you get is a matter of luck. The regular menu mainly features grilled fish set meals. This time, I ordered the grilled mackerel set with an extra egg. I had checked in advance that the egg needs to be mixed into a meringue to create a luxurious TKG (tamago kake gohan). So, the egg was served shortly after. I started mixing the egg right away, and during the process, the Enoden train passed by outside, which was enjoyable. Whipping the egg was a bit challenging, but once I achieved soft peaks, my meal was served. It included rice, miso soup, pickles, a salad, dried daikon, and a (jumbo) grilled mackerel! The mackerel had crispy skin, fluffy flesh, a mild saltiness, and just the right amount of fat with a hint of sweetness. There was also grated daikon to enjoy it simply without soy sauce. The miso soup was mildly sweet and well-balanced. The dried daikon had a flavor I quite liked. Since I usually live on lightly seasoned food, all the flavors suited my taste perfectly. I had heard of this method for TKG but had never tried it before. I want to attempt this elevated version of TKG at home. It distinguishes itself from the more soupy TKG. There’s a sense of happiness from eating a proper meal in the morning, and I appreciated seeing the energetic young staff working hard from morning till evening. It’s a great spot. Thank you for the meal!

I visited early in the morning for some breakfast, and although there was quite a line right after the restaurant opened, I was seated in the first round. I ordered the grilled horse mackerel set meal. I've heard the rice with raw egg is delicious; you mix the egg white until it becomes frothy and then add the yolk at the end to eat. Be careful not to mix it too much. It's a healthy way to start the day!

There’s a restaurant right in front of Enoden that serves breakfast starting at 7 AM, and even on weekdays, there is a line before it opens. I had the grilled mackerel set meal, which featured fatty mackerel and a gentle miso soup. It was wonderful to enjoy breakfast in a cozy old house. The restaurant’s signature dish is the rice with raw egg, and making the merengue was more challenging than I expected. It’s no surprise that it’s also popular with foreigners!

I visited a restaurant for breakfast during my walk in Kamakura around 9:30 AM and found about three groups ahead of me in line. While waiting, we could place our orders in advance. I ordered a dried horse mackerel set meal with an egg, while my friend chose a shirasu (baby sardine) rice bowl set. Once we sat at the table, they first brought us an egg, a rice bowl, and a whisk. I whisked the egg while waiting, and it took quite a bit of effort to make the egg whites fluffy. Finally, I placed the whites on top of the rice, added the yolk, and it was complete. Everything was delicious! Having a hearty breakfast in the morning really energizes me. Thank you for the meal!

I discovered a restaurant that opens at 7:00 AM, and it’s pet-friendly! I visited around 9:00 AM, and since it was a holiday, the place was quite busy! I had my cat with me, so I waited for a table on the terrace to become available. The terrace seating is perfect and cool this time of year! I ordered the dried horse mackerel set meal, which was about 1500 yen. I heard they are famous for their special eggs, but I forgot to order them! The set came with a fresh, crunchy salad and some small side dishes. The pickles had just the right saltiness and a wonderfully crunchy texture. As for the mackerel, it looked small, but it was very satisfying to eat! It was just right for breakfast. They also sold takeaway dried fish in the store, so it seems you can buy some as souvenirs to take home.

I took the opportunity to reserve a window seat where I could see the train! The Enoden train passing right in front of me was closer than I expected, so it surprised me when it suddenly came by, haha. Making meringue was more challenging and interesting than I imagined! I had horse mackerel, and both seasonings were very delicious! There's not much near the station, so if you don't like waiting, it might be better to make a reservation!

As the rumors suggested, it was delicious. The dried fish had plenty of fat. Mixing the egg whites was quite a workout, and I feel like I might end up with repetitive strain injury from it! But it turned into a good memory. There's a contracted parking lot along the coastal road nearby, so it's also convenient to come by car. Although the discount is only 100 yen, you usually have to wait quite a bit, so while you’re waiting, you can observe surfers from your car, which gives you a glimpse of the local culture.

The meal set features dried fish, and it comes with a special egg. To make egg over rice with this egg, I stirred the egg whites continuously to create a fluffy meringue. I used the time while the fish was grilling to vigorously whisk it with a small whisk. Some people whip it quickly, while others take longer; in my case, it took about 12 minutes because I wanted to improve the quality of the meringue and I was a bit slow. I had a tough choice between the horse mackerel and mackerel sets, but I decided on the ASA (horse mackerel and mackerel) set, which includes grilled horse mackerel and mackerel fillet, along with rice, miso soup, and pickles. I also added natto and the special egg, plus a coffee for after the meal. The grilled fish had just the right amount of salt, and the fleshy fish pairs perfectly with the white rice, making it hard to stop eating. It’s truly the essence of a "Japanese breakfast," and it brings happiness! The restaurant opens at 7 AM, and when I arrived just after 6:40 AM, I was around the 7th group in line on a Sunday. The terrace seating, right next to the Enoden train line, was not available that day due to strong winds. For making the fluffy meringue, there are two methods described: one is to hold the bowl with one hand and whisk with the other, and the other is to use both hands to grip the whisk. It’s recommended to tilt the whisk slightly to allow air to incorporate more easily when using both hands.

On the morning of October 19, 2024, around 7:15, we planned to drive to Yokohama with my wife at night, so we thought we would grab breakfast somewhere along the way. I searched for options and decided to stop by this place. I ordered the ASA set meal. It had been a while since I had grilled fish, and it was delicious. I was also intrigued by the fluffy egg over rice, but making the egg white meringue myself was a bit tiring. My wife ordered the hokke set meal (not a breakfast item), and I think it was even better than what I had. Haha!

When asked about famous breakfast spots, many people would surely think of this well-known place!✨ Since the Enoden train tracks are right in front of it, the window seats are particularly popular, and I aimed to secure one of those! The restaurant opens at 7:00 AM, which made me think I wouldn’t be able to get up that early, but this time I decided to stay at a nearby hotel and arrived at the station about 15 minutes early. (I was really motivated!) I thought I would be fine, but when I got there, there were already four groups ahead of me... I started to feel down thinking I might miss out on a window seat since there were only three outside and four inside. However, to my surprise, one group didn’t take a window seat, and I managed to snag one! (What a lucky break!) Before entering, I was asked for my order. The fish set meal was recommended, but since it was early, I simply ordered the eggs over rice set. I couldn’t help but laugh when my eggs arrived, just like I had seen on Instagram—the system here is that you mix the eggs yourself! Yes, you have to whip up that fluffy part of the egg over rice all by yourself… ❣️ There’s a board with tips and steps for mixing, which was quite helpful! ☺️ Following the instructions, I used both hands with the whisk, and that was definitely the fastest way to do it. It’s important to incorporate air, so I felt that stirring in a large motion helped whip it up quicker. ☁️ My friend tried mixing with one hand at first, but it took forever—so I highly recommend using both hands! After battling with the egg whites, my rice was served, and I had a blast putting the yolk on top of the whipped whites. (I panicked a bit when I accidentally pierced the yolk while trying to place it gently.) The flavor was simple yet delicious, exactly what I imagined! The fluffy egg whites melted in my mouth, creating a new sensation. The soy sauce was also a bit sweet, which made it taste even better. I was really glad I woke up early!☀️ Despite scoring a window seat, I nearly forgot to enjoy the view as I focused on my meal, but the scenery was so close that it was almost impossible to miss. There were more trains passing than I expected, so be sure to take some photos with the trains! This popular spot gets crowded at opening time, and since breakfast is limited in quantity, I recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early to ensure you get in. Depending on the timing, there might be moments when you can slip right in, but if you're aiming for a window seat, an early start is a must!

On a Monday, I took a day off work to fully enjoy a trip to Kamakura, leaving home at 3 AM and driving there. With the determination to have a lot of fun, we set off with the goal of seeing the beautiful sunrise and definitely eating while watching trains! Even though the restaurant opened at 7:00 AM, we arrived at 6:30 AM and were thrilled to find no one in line! However, by 6:35 AM, one customer had arrived, so we felt relieved! Inside the restaurant, there are only four seats where you can see the trains, and three outdoor seats that are often featured on Instagram. Since we were a group of four, we gave up on sitting outside and chose a spot inside. Around 6:55 AM, we were given the menu and decided what to order before entering. By this time, quite a few people were starting to line up! I ordered the morning special set meal with mackerel (1,000 yen) and an additional egg. I was careful to order the egg separately, thanks to a comment I had read! Everyone I came with chose dishes from the main menu instead of the morning special. While the morning special is reasonably priced at 1,000 yen, the main menu items were a bit more expensive. Once we were seated, the egg was handed to me, and I watched how to separate the egg whites using a small whisk. I couldn't get the peaks to form at all... but then a staff member suggested tilting the bowl slightly, and that really helped! After that, I managed to do it! One of my friends was so skilled that they became a meringue master! It was so much fun!!! Thanks to the meringue, the fish was fluffy and delicious! While mixing my homemade meringue and watching the trains, I took my time enjoying the healthy Japanese meal, and I felt so happy! Just to reiterate, arriving at 6:30 AM and using the technique of tilting the mixing bowl is the key! It was an amazing experience! Thank you for the meal!

At Yoridokoro, located a short walk from Inamuragasaki station on the Enoden line, you can enjoy a breakfast centered around seasonal dried fish in a traditional old house along the railway. The restaurant offers set meals featuring carefully selected dried fish, perfect for breakfast. The rice topped with fluffy and voluminous meringue-style egg is absolutely delicious.

I arrived at the restaurant around 8:00 on Sunday. Upon getting there, I communicated my name, menu choice, and phone number to the staff. It seems that waiting in front of the restaurant is not allowed, so I received a call at the right time asking me to come back. At this point, I was told to expect a waiting time of 30 to 60 minutes. I entered the restaurant around 9:00 and ordered the mackerel set meal with toppings of egg, natto, and seaweed. The taste was generally good; it's hard to make it taste bad. However, the price was very high. I thought it was way too expensive. I came as part of my sightseeing, and I thought I would treat myself, but it was just too much. The taste is good though.

I've been to Kamakura many times, but this was the first time I visited this restaurant! It's really popular, so I had to wait for an hour. I made a reservation on the same day and returned an hour later to be seated. I ordered their famous dish, and even though I tried to make the cloud-like egg but gave up because it was difficult, the rice was delicious. There were a lot of customers, and I couldn't sit on the terrace, but I think it's a great place.

When it comes to a Japanese-style breakfast, I love dried fish. I took an early morning ride on the Enoden to "Yoridokoro," located near Kamakura High School Station, close to Inamuragasaki. In this old house along the train tracks, you can enjoy a breakfast centered around seasonal dried fish. The restaurant opens at 7 AM, and if you want to eat without queuing, I recommend arriving before opening. There are about 20 seats inside, and the 4 outdoor seats can be reserved starting around noon, so make sure to check their website! The seats along the tracks offer a prime view of the Enoden train up close. I ordered the ASA set meal with two types of dried fish and added a raw egg as a topping. The horse mackerel and mackerel were rich in flavor, and the more I chewed, the more delicious they became. The raw egg allows you to make your own meringue using a whisk, which is a unique experience. When you drizzle sweet soy sauce over it, the fluffy meringue mingles with the rich yolk and pairs perfectly with the rice—so delicious! I plan to try this at home. The portion of rice seemed generous, so even if you arrive very hungry, you'll leave satisfied. After filling my stomach, I took a walk along the Shonan coastline. Starting your day at Yoridokoro is a lovely idea. I returned home and took a long nap!

I was curious about a restaurant known for its delicious breakfast, so this time I went for lunch. I knew it would be crowded, but I still ended up waiting about an hour and a half after checking in. That was quite a long wait. I started eating around 3:00 PM and ordered a set meal with dried hokke fish and the restaurant's famous egg. It was my first time trying a meringue-style egg over rice, and it had a unique texture. Although I wasn't seated where I could see the Enoden train, the food was tasty. However, due to the long wait and the nature of the meal, I'm not likely to revisit. While the food was good, it wasn't something I feel eager to eat again. The fish, small side dishes, and pickles were overall decent, but I rated it a bit harshly. I noticed many international visitors, so it might be worth reserving a table or getting ready to wait. Thank you for the meal!

A quaint old house facing the Enoden railway line near Inamuragasaki Station. This restaurant is known for its delicious dried fish, which has been featured in various media. The breakfast menu is available from 7 AM to 9 AM. Even if you miss that time, you can still have the dried fish set meal. I arrived at 1 PM thinking of having lunch, but there was already a line. I was told I could be seated about an hour and a half later, so I explored the area around Inamuragasaki. It seems there’s a table check-in system, so I recommend using that. This time, I chose the salted mackerel set meal and added a special egg as a topping. The special egg dish involves whipping the egg whites with a provided whisk to make a meringue, which is then placed over rice, topped with the egg yolk—a TKG (Tamago Kake Gohan). It offers a nice visual appeal and new texture, but I actually prefer a regular TKG without the meringue. The sun-dried, additive-free dried fish was plump and satisfying to eat. The set meal included a small side of pickles, a mini salad, shredded daikon, and miso, costing 1,850 yen. The special egg was an additional 220 yen, bringing the total to 2,070 yen… You can imagine how I feel about that. The restaurant was mostly occupied by foreign tourists, so I wondered if this was a touristy pricing situation. Thank you for the meal!
