Here's a place where there used to be a deli before, right? It became Suzunoya about two years ago, right? Somehow, I never got around to visiting because the timing didn't work out. But I heard good things about it, so I decided to stop by. The atmosphere is quite different from when it was a side dish shop. They had a parking lot, but where is it, I wonder? I sat at the counter and ordered the "Zangi set meal." They have interesting menu items like "Yukie-chan Gozen," "Taco Rice," and "Mapo Tofu set meal." Oh? It seems like they have a cafeteria for lunch and an izakaya for dinner. And it turns out the izakaya is reservation-only now. Well, that's how it is in these times, right? I waited a while for my food - they don't pre-make the Zangi. They served me five Zangi pieces, each the size of a child's fist, on a big plate. The set meal included rice, soup (we Hokkaido folks don't call it miso soup, it's soup), a side dish, and pickles. A simple set meal. Oh! This Zangi is so delicious! The ginger marinade really sticks to the chicken! The coating is made of flour and potato starch, so it's nice and crispy. According to my personal criteria, Zangi has a strong garlic or ginger flavor marinated into the chicken, while Karaage doesn't have as much flavor. If the meat isn't marinated much, it's called Tatsutaage. I was enjoying the hot Zangi when I realized, oh no, I'm running out of rice! This Zangi is really tasty! No wonder it's so popular. I'll have to come back again. What should I try next time? Maybe the "Zangi donburi"? I'm also curious about the "Gyudon." Hmm, decisions, decisions.

Zangi donburi 750 yen While passing through Toyotomi-cho, I discovered a new restaurant! The exterior has a very stylish atmosphere and they serve lunch, and it turns into an izakaya at night. I used it for lunch today. The interior has a few seats at the counter and four tatami rooms! There are quite a variety of menu items, from set meals to Western food, pasta, and more. The staff are polite and nice. The karaage donburi comes with miso soup, pickles, and side dishes. There were plenty of juicy karaage on top of the rice, with a sweet and savory sauce that I liked. I'm curious about the izakaya at night.
