On Friday, July 8th, for lunch, I visited "Udon dining KONA×MIZU×SHIO" in Minamihonmachi, Chuo-ku, Osaka, just a 3-minute walk east from Sakaisuji-Honmachi Station on the Osaka Metro Chuo Line. It had been a while since my last visit.
Upon entering the restaurant, there is a ticket machine on the right side where you purchase your meal ticket. There are table seats on the left side and counter seats at the back. As I was dining alone, I sat at the counter where I could catch a glimpse of the chef using a pressure cooker to boil the udon.
I ordered the recommended dish of the day, the "Mozzarella Cheese, Shrimp, and Avocado Bukkake Udon" for 1300 yen, along with a "Udon Bread" set for 100 yen. When the dishes arrived, I was surprised by the Italian-inspired presentation. The cold udon came with mozzarella cheese, shrimp, avocado, and other toppings in a separate glass.
The udon itself was incredibly delicious, with a soft and chewy texture that was just perfect. The cold bukkake broth, flavored with kombu and bonito, enhanced the overall taste. Adding the toppings to the udon made it even more delightful. It was like an Italian twist on udon, and it was simply amazing!
To accompany my meal, I ordered a glass of red wine for 550 yen, which was surprisingly available at this udon restaurant. The "Udon Bread" was a special bread made using udon noodles boiled in a pressure cooker, giving it a soft and chewy texture with a rich wheat flavor. It was delicious, especially when topped with the Italian-inspired ingredients.
Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my dining experience at "Udon dining KONA×MIZU×SHIO." The restaurant is located at 1-2-6 Minamihonmachi, Chuo-ku, Osaka, and can be reached by walking 3 minutes east from Sakaisuji-Honmachi Station on the Osaka Metro Chuo Line. They are open from 11:00 to 14:00, with Sundays and Mondays off. The restaurant is completely non-smoking, and there is no parking available.
