I had been interested in "Nakamuraya Ryokan" for a while, but I didn't stay there, I just wanted to try their lunch as it seemed quite popular. However, they don't serve lunch on Sundays, so I finally visited. I ended up having my meal in the lobby of the accommodation, where tables were set up. It was quite crowded, so I had to wait for about an hour before getting a table. The menu offered various options like set meals, weekly lunch specials, soba and udon noodles, curry, tempura, tonkatsu, and ginger pork. I ordered the "tanuki soba @650" which was served in 6 minutes. The soba was simple, topped with tempura bits, seaweed, and chopped green onions. The broth was light and the noodles were thin and slightly overcooked, lacking firmness. The overall quality seemed decent, but I would recommend trying the cold noodles instead. The most popular dishes seemed to be the weekly lunch special @750 and the katsu curry @1,100. After finishing my meal, I paid at the front desk.

I had a great time chatting and having lunch in a room at a ryokan with two or more women by reservation only from 11:00 to 15:00 (* 'ω' *) The autumn meal (2400 yen) included green beans and sesame dressing, lily root in plum wine flavor, Matsumae pickles, salmon sashimi, saury roll, angler hot pot, edamame and lotus root tempura, smelt fry, tofu mozzarella, pumpkin kudzu bun, chestnut rice, and melon. Everything was delicious and of high quality. I enjoyed eating seasonal ingredients like saury and smelt while having a good time (* 'ω' *)

The lobby of the inn is used as a dining area. They offer a different menu each week, including soba, udon, katsukare, tendon, tonkatsu, etc. This week's specials are A: ankake yakisoba and B: tonkatsu. I came here specifically for the Chicken Atsumori Soba priced at 900 yen. It was served quickly. The soba is made with Hokkaido soba flour and local wheat, but there is no mention of homemade noodles or hand-made noodles. The soba noodles are flat and long, with a surprisingly good texture. The portion size is not very big. The chicken atsumori soup is served piping hot and you can't hold the bowl. It contains tender chicken and green onions, with a nice flavor from the Mitsuba leaves. The broth is light and easy to eat. It's nice that it comes with two pieces of inari sushi. I would like to try the katsukare next time. (July 2022)

On a certain weekday, I was surprised to find out that the restaurant I had planned to have lunch at was by reservation only, so I decided to visit this place that I had never been to before. I parked my car at a public paid parking space facing the road and headed towards the restaurant. The restaurant is located on the first floor of a historic inn in the city, and the low tables gave it a nice traditional atmosphere. The background music was coming from somewhere, maybe the TV was on. I decided to try the "Weekly Set A (700 yen)" instead of the famous Katsu Curry because I wasn't sure if I could finish it all. The food was served surprisingly fast, almost like a standing soba shop. The soba noodles were thin, grey, and had a chewy texture. The broth was sweet and tangy, quite strong but not bad. The dish came with a piece of seaweed and 5-6 pieces of chicken. The Inari sushi and Futomaki looked very ordinary, almost like they were from a supermarket, but when I tasted them, they were surprisingly fresh and matched well with the soba broth. Overall, it was a unique experience to enjoy traditional inn-style soba and sushi in the middle of the city. Thank you for the meal.

I have been here many times, but this is my first time writing a review. I almost always order the pork cutlet curry here. I love that they offer a free extra large portion! The curry sauce comes in a separate container (like a gravy boat). There is plenty of meat in the curry sauce. The flavor is mild with a hint of spice and a rich taste. The pork cutlet is not too thin and has a satisfying texture. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Today I went to a restaurant where smoking is allowed all day, which is quite rare nowadays. It was a weekday lunch and I was in the mood for soba, so I decided to try Nakamuraya Ryokan for the first time. They asked me if I was okay with smoking, as they allow smoking throughout the restaurant, and I agreed. The main dining area was full, so I was seated in a large hall at the back, which was also quite crowded. I ordered the Chicken Atsumori Soba for 900 yen. It's a type of soba where you dip cold noodles into warm broth. The dish arrived in about 5 minutes, and to my surprise, it came with two inari sushi pieces! The soba had a mild fragrance, was slightly sweet, and the texture wasn't great. The dipping broth was strong and spicy, but the chicken was tender and plentiful, which was a plus. The inari sushi was quite sweet. Despite my comments, I managed to finish the meal, but my stomach felt really full afterwards. It was nice that they offered complimentary coffee after the meal. The businessman sitting to my right was smoking several Seven Stars cigarettes, while the one on my left was using an electronic cigarette. It seemed like they were there more for smoking than for lunch. After just a 30-minute stay, the smell of smoke had stuck to my clothes and hair. In a time where smoking areas are decreasing, places like this restaurant are truly valuable. Overall, it was a unique experience. Thank you for the meal!

I visited a restaurant during lunchtime with my colleague, which is their favorite place. I was surprised to find a traditional inn right in the middle of Sapporo city. The restaurant had a nostalgic, old-fashioned atmosphere. They offer lunch sets with a focus on Japanese cuisine, which are not cheap. I ordered the most popular dish, chicken hot pot soba. It was decent, neither good nor bad. I probably wouldn't go there again unless invited. However, the fish in the lunch set was incredibly delicious with just one bite.

This restaurant is bustling with government officials and participants of training seminars from Hokkaido Government Office, Kadell 2.7, and Hokkaido University Botanical Garden. I ordered the zaru soba that day. After drinking too much the night before, my appetite was low, so the smooth texture of the soba was the perfect choice. My friend ordered dishes like pork cutlet curry, seafood bowl, and daily specials, all of which looked delicious. The dishes were served relatively quickly, allowing us to make the most of our lunch break.

I went to the Hokkaido University Botanical Gardens to see the seasonal flowers. The vast grounds, which are hard to believe are located in the urban area behind the Hokkaido Government Office, are impressive. As soon as you enter through the main gate, you will see a museum with a stuffed man-eating bear that terrorized Sapporo during the Meiji era. Additionally, in the back of the facility, there is a stuffed seal named Taro from the Antarctic Story on display. I had heard about it before but had forgotten. Come to think of it, when I visited the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno last year, there was a stuffed dog named Hachiko from Akita Prefecture displayed alongside Jiro. It's interesting to see two famous animals within a year. After leaving the botanical garden, it was past 1 o'clock, so I decided to have lunch. I noticed Nakamuraya right in front of me. Since I was hungry, I decided to go there. Nakamuraya is a renowned restaurant in Sapporo with a history of over 100 years. I ordered the "Hiyashi Tanuki Soba" as I wanted something light to eat. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The Hiyashi Tanuki Soba consisted of chilled soba noodles topped with cold dipping sauce, fried tempura crumbs, and shredded seaweed. It was a decent dish, but I'm not confident in judging soba, so I'll just go with my feelings. It seems like their main business is in the ryokan industry.

It is a traditional Japanese-style inn located right next to Kadell 2.7. The lobby is smoker-friendly, with ashtrays on each table (which might be uncomfortable for non-smokers). There is a small bath on the second floor. The parking lot is a 3-minute walk away at Big Shine 88, costing 1400 yen per day. There is a nearby Seven Eleven convenience store. The facilities are a bit old but clean. However, there was a peculiar smell in the room (possibly from air freshener). The neighboring room also had a similar smell. The price was around 13,000 yen. The dinner was a mix of Japanese and Western dishes, but the portion size was a bit small. At the end, miso soup, pickles, and daifuku were served, followed by rice which was a bit confusing. For breakfast, each person had their own tray and there was also a buffet option. It was a unique setup with a very Japanese-style breakfast.

I always manage the photos I take with my smartphone using "Google Photos". Today, as I was looking back at them, I realized that I had forgotten to introduce a restaurant I visited in May. So, I will introduce it today. The restaurant is called "Ryokan Nakamuraya". Located right next to the Hokkaido Government Office, this ryokan is also right next to the training venue I attend. It is an established inn where you can visit for meals only. In May, I had the tempura bowl for lunch, which cost 950 yen. I really enjoy tempura bowls, but lately I have found them to be too heavy. However, the tempura bowl at Nakamuraya was elegant and delicious. The shrimp was plump and the sauce was not too sweet. It was a refined and tasty tempura bowl. I forgot what else was on top of it, but it was delicious. For a weekday lunch option, this place located right next to the prefectural office is frequented by office workers. As soon as I pushed the door open, I saw the weekday lunch special displayed: "Warm Soba and Assorted Tempura for 650 yen." Not bad, right? Upon entering through the automatic door, I was promptly shown to my seat. I had peeked through the glass from outside and saw that there were available seats, so I felt at ease. The interior felt like a cozy lobby lounge of a traditional inn. There was a counter towards the back, and even further back, there were more tables than I expected. The lunch was easy on the stomach and wallet, and the staff had a friendly and efficient manner of speaking. The food arrived promptly after I sat down, which was nice. The soba soup was soy-based with tempura bits and green onions, while the Assorted Tempura was served with lightly seasoned vinegared rice, creating a different flavor profile from the soba. I enjoyed it all. As I was eating, I noticed a note on the menu stating that "Free hot coffee is available after the meal on weekdays," while it costs 300 yen on weekends and holidays. I leisurely enjoyed my meal while watching TV until it was time to attend to my errands. It was a peaceful lunchtime experience.

This is a review of a ryokan located behind Sapporo City Chuo Ward and the Hokkaido Government Building Annex. It is a long-established ryokan founded in the 36th year of the Meiji era, where you can not only stay overnight but also have lunch and hold banquets in traditional Japanese-style rooms. The charming lobby on the first floor can be used as a cafe from early morning to evening, and you can also have lunch there during the day. As our company has been close by for a long time, we have often used this ryokan for breaks and meetings. On this day, we stopped by for a break on our way back to the office after a meeting. I ordered an iced coffee because it was very hot outside. Although I believe the coffee itself is commercially available, the cloth coasters, ashtrays in wooden frames, and slightly lower tables create a calming atmosphere with a traditional Japanese touch, different from a regular cafe. Being able to leisurely savor the coffee in such a serene setting truly feels like a luxury.

Nakamuraya Ryokan, a long-established inn, started as a boarding house in 1903. This year marks its 112th anniversary. The first floor of the inn serves as a resting place and dining area. I visited with my usual companion for lunch. The inn is located in the Sapporo Station area in Chuo-ku, Sapporo, on the first floor of the Green Garden Building in the government office district where the Hokkaido government and assembly are located. For the exact location, please check on Tabelog. We visited in the early afternoon on a weekday. Lunchtime ends at 2 pm, so we arrived with plenty of time. There were 2 customers before us and 3 customers after us. We sat at a table. There were 3 daily lunch specials, with 2 already sold out. I ordered the "Atsumori Soba" and my companion ordered the "Japanese Set Meal." The food arrived after a 7-minute wait. The Japanese Set Meal included sashimi, tempura, simmered dishes, grilled fish, miso soup, rice, and coffee, all for 1000 yen including tax. The Atsumori Soba set had well-cooked soba with warm dipping sauce, garnished with ingredients like radish, shiso leaves, and green onions, along with two pieces of Inari sushi and pickled ginger, all for 850 yen including tax. The lunch was popular, especially the 650 yen daily specials. The Japanese Set Meal had a homely taste, different from hotel Japanese cuisine. The Atsumori Soba was good, with tasty Inari sushi. Personally, I prefer the "Special Zaru Soba" at the nearby assembly cafeteria, but the prices here are reasonable for the location. The restroom had a historical feel and even had complimentary tissue boxes for the New Year, which we shared between the two of us. Next time, I might come earlier for the daily special lunch. It was a delicious meal, thank you.

I attended a study session and social gathering with about 10 senior members of a parent association at this ryokan for the first time. I was surprised to learn about the history of Nakamuraya Ryokan on their website before visiting. We parked at a nearby coin parking lot. The lobby on the first floor, though not very spacious, was filled with many people, mainly elderly. There were several reservation names posted at the entrance for gatherings like meetings or class reunions. At one point during the meal, the national anthem played from a distant room, which surprised everyone a bit. We were given a room called "Haru" on the third floor, the furthest back, with chair seating. There were also tatami and Japanese-style rooms available. The room had a somewhat sterile impression but was spacious and comfortable. We were served lunch by the staff, making it feel like a ryokan experience during the day. The meal for the day was the "Chatty Lunch Set" and the "Mini Kaiseki Moon Set" for 2,100 yen plus tax. I don't remember the exact details of the dishes as we were listening to the senior members' lectures, but there was sashimi, fried fish cakes, grilled fish, boiled vegetables, and a hot pot, along with rice, soup, dessert, and drinks. The broth for the hot pot was particularly flavorful and memorable. The use of chrysanthemum flowers in the side dishes and the addition of vegetables and shirasu (whitebait) to the rice gave a traditional ryokan meal impression. Overall, the dishes were slightly sweet, small in portion, and focused on fish, catering to the clientele. For me, it was not bad (I'm joining the elderly group now). We also had persimmon sherbet for dessert, along with unlimited tea and coffee after the meal. We had plenty of time and space to relax, making it a good choice for gatherings, including those with elderly participants. Thank you for the meal.

There is a ryokan behind the prefectural office that serves lunch from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm in the lobby space on the first floor. Recommended by a legal scrivener, it is a well-known hidden gem among those who often visit the prefectural office for work. They offer a weekly changing set menu for 600 yen, making it quite affordable. The menu includes set meals, rice bowl dishes, curry, soba, udon, and more. The taste is light and mild, attracting an older clientele. They also serve lunch on weekends, but the 600 yen A, B, and C set meals are only available on weekdays. Extra large portions are available for an additional 100 yen. I stayed in a room that had been renovated into a banquet hall. The room now has a new hot water heating system. There is a room bath and a large communal bath made of granite. The room is a traditional Japanese style where you can relax comfortably. Breakfast is served in the dining room on the first floor. The meal includes hot tofu, mixed rice, tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette), grilled salmon, kinpira burdock root, onsen tamago (hot spring egg), salad, seasoned seaweed, rice, pickles (umeboshi, pickled cucumber, ginger, apricot), miso soup (with vegetables and green onions), fruits (orange, pineapple), orange juice, and coffee. The food is lightly seasoned and delicious. For lunch and dinner, I ate outside, but the meals at the inn, such as the crab course, looked delicious too. When I returned to my room, a newspaper, mandarin oranges, and green tea were prepared. It was thoughtful. Sapporo is covered in snow. I'm off to go skiing for the first time this season.

This is a long-established ryokan in Sapporo. In addition to accommodation, banquets and meals are famous, but the lunch service at a reasonable price is attractive. Due to its proximity to Hokkaido Government Office, Ka De Ru Hall, and the botanical garden, it is crowded during lunchtime. I often use it when I am on a business trip, but when I visited this time, it was raining and the restaurant was packed with businessmen in the area. The first floor of the restaurant was full as far as I could see, but I was urged by the staff to use the elevator and was escorted to a private room. I ordered the "Oyako Soba". I was prepared to wait due to the crowded conditions, but surprisingly the dish was served quickly. Perhaps it was because it was soba. The soba was quite ordinary. The broth was lightly seasoned, but the flavor of the chicken was alive and just right. The softness of the egg was exquisite and I enjoyed it.

I went for the weekday lunch special at this restaurant. I ordered the C lunch special, which was a Chirashi bowl for 600 yen. The bowl included shrimp, scallops, and tuna, but the seafood didn't seem very fresh and the sushi rice was a bit dry. The portion size was small, and overall, it felt lacking for a lunch meal. I remember that on that day, the A lunch special was a salmon roe bowl and the B lunch special was a pork bowl. The restaurant has a glass exterior, which personally I found a bit unsettling. On weekdays, they offer free hot coffee after your meal (self-service), which was a nice touch.
