The restaurant Taimeshi Yahanabi has been famous for a long time, and I knew about it, but it is located near my company. Since my company only has a 45-minute lunch break, it was impossible to visit during lunch, so I decided to go for dinner before my dance practice. I thought, "If I have an hour, I should be able to eat," and entered the restaurant. I ordered the Uwajima Taimeshi for 990 yen and half of the Mackerel Mirin-dried fish for 660 yen. There were only three groups of customers, including myself, but for some reason, the food took a long time to come out. The menu stated that it takes 40 minutes to cook the natural Taimeshi, so I intentionally avoided it and chose the Uwajima Taimeshi, but still... 40 minutes is too long to wait, isn't it? It finally arrived, but it took so long because they apparently cooked it in a pot with charcoal. If they had mentioned on the menu that the Uwajima Taimeshi also takes 40 minutes to cook in a pot, I wouldn't have ordered it... I assumed that they would provide white rice cooked in a rice cooker since it was on the menu, but apparently not. In the end, I didn't have enough time, so I had to quickly eat the Taimeshi... and because I didn't have time to eat, I left more than half of the pot-cooked white rice. If it takes this long, the lunch set may be a good deal, but it's definitely impossible to eat within an hour... Or is it that this restaurant is fine with making customers wait and is okay with it? I didn't order alcohol because I couldn't drink before dancing, but it took until I mentioned it for water to be served. And the Mackerel Mirin-dried fish that I ordered was brought to the table next to me, and it wasn't until the customers at the next table said, "This is not ours," that the staff realized and brought it to me without even saying sorry. (It seemed like the staff member was a new part-timer, so maybe it can't be helped... If it had been eaten, would they have made it from scratch again?) The food was delicious, but because it takes 40 minutes to be served, I honestly cannot recommend it to those who are trying to eat within an hour. It seems like the only quick options are onigiri or ochazuke. (If something really takes more than 40 minutes, it should be clearly stated on the menu) I couldn't help but ask, "Is my order even going through?" after waiting for 40 minutes, and the staff member in the kitchen placed the finished pot on the counter in a blunt manner, which also bothered me. If it's not written on the menu, then when ordering, they should add a simple "The Uwajima Taimeshi takes 40 minutes to cook in a pot, is that okay?" (Even at a major chain like Tori***u, they add this when ordering pot rice) The atmosphere of the restaurant and the food were delicious, but I cannot recommend it to those who only have an hour to eat. For those who don't mind waiting for good food, it may be a good restaurant. As someone who only has an hour to eat, I unfortunately won't be going back. I wonder if the lunch service, which is a battle against the time of salarymen, really makes customers wait for so long??? It's something to think about.
