During the Bon holiday, I decided to go on a food adventure and chose a popular ramen shop called "Chikumentei" in Osaka Sayama City, which I found on the food review site. My wife had to work during the Bon period, so this time I visited the shop with my daughter. The shop is located along Route 310, diagonally across from "Honda Gakuen" road, which locals would recognize. It's a bit far from the nearest station, so having a car is convenient, but there is a large shared parking lot with a bookstore called Parunet, so it's safe to drive there. The interior of the shop is quite spacious with counter seats and table seats available, and they operate on a ticket system using a ticket machine.
On this day, I was in the mood for "mix noodles," so I chose the "Garlic Mixed Noodles" with extra toppings of "Char Siu" and "Half-boiled Egg," and also added "rice." The noodles come in three portion sizes, and I decided to go for the largest size of 300g this time. The Garlic Mixed Noodles arrived after about 10 minutes, and it was piping hot. The homemade medium-thick noodles made from domestic wheat were chewy and went well with the rich garlic-flavored sauce, which was stronger than expected. The toppings like Char Siu, bamboo shoots, green onions, and seaweed were generously added and finely sliced for easy mixing. The Char Siu slices were rare and tender, but the extra Char Siu had some strings which were a bit disappointing. The half-boiled egg had a creamy yolk that complemented the flavorful noodles. The rice also paired nicely with the rich noodles.
I also tried a bit of the Soy Sauce Ramen my daughter ordered, and it had a delicious chicken broth base with a good amount of umami. The noodles were chewy but less so than the mixed noodles. The Char Mayonnaise Bowl my daughter ordered had plenty of chopped Char Siu and mayonnaise, which turned out to be richer than expected. Towards the end, my daughter couldn't handle the strong flavors of both the mixed noodles and the Char Mayonnaise Bowl together, so I ended up finishing both dishes, feeling quite full. Despite the struggle, the taste was quite good, and it became a memorable summer eating experience. Thank you for the meal.
