Originating in Osaka, the birthplace of spice curry, there are several notable spice curry restaurants popping up in Kitahama. One of them is "Curry & Nice Cature." The owner, Kato-san, previously worked at the renowned "Kyuyam-tei" before branching out on his own. Since its opening on June 20, 2020, this up-and-coming spice curry restaurant has garnered attention and even won the Grand Prix in the Ultimate Curry Award 2021 in the New Store category. The restaurant, located on the second floor of a building, has a retro-pop atmosphere. With an L-shaped counter and counter seats facing the window, it has a total of 12 seats. During my visit on a weekday evening, I noticed that the menu differs slightly between lunch and dinner. Here are some highlights from my visit: - Ponshu Lassi ¥480: This was delicious. It's like a yogurt sake, but in lassi form. The slightly sweet and sour taste is what makes it stand out. - Mutton & Mutton ¥1350: This dish combines the popular "KTL Mutton Keema" with a sauce-type mutton curry, creating a dry and wet style curry with mutton. The mutton keema is finely ground and incredibly muttony. The sauce-type mutton curry has a deep fragrance that is outstanding. The chunks of mutton are surprisingly tender, more reminiscent of high-end Western curry ingredients than South Asian mutton curry. The pickled ginger served on the side adds a sweet touch, reminiscent of fukujinzuke in Japanese curry rice. The use of spices, incorporating essences from India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, along with a touch of traditional Japanese Western-style curry, makes "Cature" truly unique. Overall, this restaurant's fusion of spice curry and Western-style curry is intriguing. The retro-pop ambiance of the place adds another layer of depth to the dining experience. It seems like the convergence of spice curry and Western-style curry that many have anticipated is already underway.

This place is number one. Especially the lamb curry, which costs an additional 150 yen, is outstanding. Both the 2 types and 3 types are delicious, but even the single portion packs a punch. The rice is free and can be upgraded to a large portion, but to truly appreciate the curry's flavor, the regular size is sufficient. It's easy to overeat here. Opting for the large portion with 3 types of curry may be too much, so it's better to keep it simple unless you have a big appetite. The flavor leans more towards deliciousness than spiciness. The spices deliver a slow body blow that makes you break a sweat on your forehead. Savoring the fragrant lamb, the combination of meat juices and curry is like a legendary duo on the football field. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is stylish and pleasant, allowing you to fully focus on the curry. Delicious, this place is amazing.

I'm not sure how many times I've been there, but the curry was delicious again today so I wanted to record it. I had the mutton keema curry as a single portion. It had been a while since I last visited, but Katouru's curry is always so tasty! The spices are just right, and the mutton meat is delicious. The amount of rice is also just enough so you don't feel too full. I want to get a T-shirt from there.

Visited for lunch. As soon as you enter the shop, the aroma of spices fills the air, stimulating your appetite! Ordered a Combo (3 types) + Free extra rice + Large portion of curry sauce + Half-boiled egg. Chose A. Spicy Mutton. The dishes were served, and first enjoyed the colorful presentation. Then tried to guess which curry was which. A. Spicy Mutton: The meat was tender and flavorful, with a spicy kick that was not overpowering. Delicious! B. Winter Melon and Ginger Coconut Stew with Bean Curry: A mellow curry with chunks of winter melon that added a nice texture. C. Clam Green Keema: Absolutely delicious! The clam added a burst of flavor, followed by the sweetness and mild spiciness of the green curry. Mixing the curries together enhanced the overall taste. The place was packed with customers, indicating its popularity. Would definitely revisit if given the chance!

I arrived just before the last order before closing. I ordered a plate of beef tendon and winter melon curry, as well as keema curry, which were not sold out. The curry was not too spicy, allowing the flavors of the spices to shine through in an elegant way. The staff at the restaurant were also not bad in their service.

After conquering the top 100 curry restaurants on Tabelog, I have been exploring highly-rated restaurants to find my favorite spots. I was searching for a place to satisfy my craving for mutton curry when I came across this highly recommended restaurant! The chef, who used to work at the former Yamu residence, has now opened his own place, so I decided to give it a try! It's a bit of a trek from Umeda, taking the subway to Temmabashi Station and then a 10-minute walk, which was tough in the summer heat, but I made it! There is a curry restaurant in front of the Life store in Temmabashi. It is located along Matsuyamachi Street. They offer single, pair, and combo options. I recommend getting the combo with a soft-boiled egg on top. The mutton keema curry is excellent, and having three different types of curry prevents you from getting tired of the taste. The restaurant gets full quickly after opening at 11:30.

I visited around 1 pm. There was only one seat available in the 12-seat restaurant, so I was lucky to get a seat but there was a line forming outside afterwards. The second floor has large windows, making it bright, and the decor has a cool, understated feel. The curry of the day had four options, which are posted on social media. I ordered the Pork Curry and Lamb Combo with extra rice. It cost 1400 yen. It arrived after a 20-minute wait. It came with about six side dishes like cinnamon, achar, and gari. You can also pay for extra side dishes if you like. The pork had a good chewy texture with just the right amount of fat. The lamb also had a chewy texture and a wonderful meaty aroma. The side dishes complemented the curry well, making it a satisfying meal despite the generous portion. They take their time to prepare the food, so I recommend allowing extra time when you visit.

Before I knew it, it was already late. I searched for a place where I could eat alone easily. I wasn't in the mood for ramen, so I hurried to this spice curry restaurant. I climbed the stairs to the second floor. It was a small restaurant with only a counter. Unfortunately, the Chicken Punchaal that I was interested in was sold out. So, I decided to try the Makana Curry. It was a mix of several types of curry. After ordering, the staff came over looking apologetic and asked if it was okay to add an egg topping as the rice portion was smaller than usual. I wasn't very hungry and was worried about finishing the meal, so I was actually grateful for the smaller rice portion. The curry was pleasantly spicy and I could feel the effects of the spices slowly spreading throughout my body. In this hot season, spice curry gives you a boost of energy!! The staff were also very friendly. I left the restaurant feeling satisfied.

It's been a while. Arrived on Thursday at 11:57, with 5 people waiting outside. Entered the restaurant at 12:17. Ordered combo rice with a small portion at 12:30. The dish arrived with three types of curry on top of the "combo," which looked artistic. Each curry was delicious on its own, but combining them and enjoying the different flavors was fun. The side of pickled ginger was surprisingly refreshing and served as a nice palate cleanser. Like at the Yam residence where the menu is not fixed, it is recommended to check the restaurant's social media for updates.

For the closing of the 6th anniversary of the curry restaurant I always go to, CURRY&NICE Katoor, I visited after a long time. I arrived at the store a little after 11 am. As usual, Mr. Kato, the owner, seemed to be making curry in the store! I climbed the outside stairs and saw flowers in front of the entrance of the store! Luckily, there was no line outside, so I secured a spot. Mr. Kato noticed me and I congratulated him on the 3rd anniversary and chatted a bit. Just before opening hours, only those waiting in line were asked about the menu, and today's curry options were: A. Beef with squid dashi or shrimp coconut (+150 yen), B. Zucchini and cabbage subji with bean curry, C. Chicken liver MIX pork keema or KTL mutton keema (+150 yen). Toppings included half-boiled egg, pickled ginger, coriander, large eggplant pickle, menma, achaar, shrimp karamu, quail egg, and extra rice. For my husband, he chose the combo (3 varieties) with extra rice and toppings of shrimp coconut and chicken liver MIX pork keema with a half-boiled egg. When it was time, we entered the store after disinfecting our hands with alcohol at the entrance. I sat at my favorite seat on the 2nd floor and enjoyed the view outside. The contrast between the hustle and bustle outside and the quiet enjoyment of curry inside is a pleasant space. I cherish this moment and time. Serving regular customers in the usual way is the essence of CURRY&NICE Katoor! After a short wait, our curry was served. The curry looked beautiful as always! Extra roux is like the sea of curry! When I removed my mask, the straight scent of spices hit me! I was getting hungry! Let's eat! I started with the zucchini and cabbage subji with bean curry. The blend of lentils and toor dal beans with the vegetables and the umami of the dashi was a perfect combination! The texture of the zucchini and cabbage subji added a nice accent. The chicken liver MIX pork keema had a rich keema flavor with whole spices! It's so delicious that I could eat it forever! The highlight was the shrimp coconut curry! The plump shrimp with coconut and spices offered a blissful experience as I chewed and savored the umami of the shrimp and spices. The crunchiness was also good today! The curry with the dashi and spices was delicious! The colorful side dishes with their acidity, bitterness, and ginger sweet and sourness complemented the curry perfectly! As always, the non-spicy side dishes did a great job! I really like the use of whole spices by Katoor, where the spices burst in your mouth when you bite into them, spreading their aroma. After enjoying each dish separately, I mixed everything together and enjoyed the chaos! After paying the bill and thanking the staff, we left the store. The anniversary day was not about doing anything special, just an extension of the daily routine! I hope Mr. Kato's feelings reach everyone even a little bit! Husband, thank you for the meal! The green curry had a slightly mild spice, but it paired perfectly with the minced chicken. The only thing that bothered me was the wait time and the time it took for the dish to be served. Today, I enjoyed the spice curry with pork and chicken keema as toppings. The combination of the coriander and keema with the broth was fantastic! This is what true spice curry should taste like! On May 8, 2023, I rode my bicycle for 10 minutes to get a beautiful cake from an artsy cake shop, crossing the Tenjin Bridge over the Okawa River. First, I decided to have lunch at "Curry & Nice Couture" located on the 2nd floor of the Route Nakanoshima Building near the Higashi-Tae-ryou Bridge. The shop opened 3 years ago, and the owner seems to have come from the famous spice curry shop "Former Yamatei" in the Karahori Shotengai. I visited the shop for the night session 2 months ago but it was temporarily closed, so I decided to try again by being the first customer when they opened at 11:30. I ordered the Combo for 1100 yen, which included dried shrimp and bitter gourd pork curry, bamboo shoots and shimeji mushroom with Sichuan pepper stir-fry and bean curry, and herb-scented deer and pork keema. I also added a little mutton keema for 350 yen. The lunch curry is divided into A, B, and C options. A includes dried shrimp and bitter gourd pork curry or spicy mutton curry (+150 yen), B includes bamboo shoots and shimeji mushroom with Sichuan pepper stir-fry and bean curry, and C includes herb-scented deer and pork keema or KTL mutton keema (+150 yen). You can choose from Single (1 type), Pair (2 types), or Combo (A+B+C) for 3 options. I chose the Combo and added a little mutton keema, and requested a free large serving of rice. After waiting for 6 minutes while overlooking Matsuyamachi-suji where cars were passing by, the curry was served. The four curries with the mutton keema on a separate plate looked very luxurious. The herb-scented deer and pork keema was a bit spicy, but overall, the spiced curry was very well-made and not too spicy, making it easy to eat. The toppings were beautifully arranged, and the bean curry with a watery texture and the flavorful pork curry mixed with two types of keema made the dish even more delicious. This would definitely go well with beer, and I heard that the menu expands in the evening, so I have decided to revisit for a beer. Thank you for the meal! (●^o^●)

The combination of dried shrimp, bitter melon, and pork is amazing. It's incredibly delicious. The deer and pork keema has a strong herb flavor! The herb is a bit overpowering, but it's still tasty. The mutton keema is full of mutton flavor with a slightly strong salty taste. They seem to have different curry options daily, so I'd love to try them all! Thank you for the meal!

Today's Curry Today, I visited "Curry & Nice Cature" in Kitahama, one of the fiercely competitive curry districts in Osaka. This is my second visit to this place, which has gained solid popularity. Open for almost 3 years now, the chef, Mr. Kato, who used to work at the former Yam residence, showcases his skills in using spices. I ordered the "Bamboo Shoots and Shimeji Mushroom with Sansho Pepper Stir-Fry and Bean Curry" along with the "KTL Mutton Keema" as a pair. The mutton in the KTL Mutton Keema was coarsely ground, allowing me to savor the robust flavor of the mutton. As I ate, I could feel a slight sweat breaking out, indicating the hearty infusion of spices. It was delicious and satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the curry shop "CURRY&NICE Cature" in a building on the 2nd floor, about a 7-8 minute walk from Temmabashi Station, around 11 am on a certain day in March 2023. The small restaurant had 2 other customers when I arrived. I sat at the counter alone and ordered the "Combo" for ¥1,100, which included a platter of 3 different curries. The curry varieties were "Squid and Beef Fat Curry," "Tarsai and Chili Men Spice Mix and Bean Curry," and "Gumshara Pork Keema." The food was served about 5 minutes after ordering. The "Combo" came on a perfectly sized plate with rice and the 3 curries. A small amount of achar and pol sambol were also included. As I tried each curry with the rice, I could taste the rich flavors of the spices. The curries were slightly oily, which may be a matter of personal preference, but the complex blend of flavors and umami was unique and enjoyable. The combination of squid and beef fat provided a nice texture and a good balance of richness and aroma. The Tarsai and Chili Men Spice Mix and Bean Curry had an interesting mix of vegetables and chili men. Adding a bit of chutney enhanced the flavor. The Gumshara Pork Keema was a simple curry that allowed the meat's umami flavor to shine. Mixing the different curries together created a complex and enjoyable taste. Despite the slight oiliness, I thoroughly enjoyed the curry at "Cature." I was satisfied with the meal, especially considering the price of ¥1,100, which felt like a good deal. When I went to the shop I was looking forward to, I found a notice saying that the staff were on vacation in Thailand. So I decided to try a restaurant that I had been curious about for a while, but the lights were off. As a result, I ended up going to Katooru-san after a long time. I ordered the Curry Trio Plate A with Garam Chicken, B with fragrant sautéed vegetables and bean curry, and C with spinach green keema. When the dishes were brought to me, a nice aroma of spices wafted from them. The Garam Chicken had a strong umami flavor, the bean curry was mildly spicy but with a solid spice profile, and the green keema was packed with spices. I enjoyed the combination of the chicken and keema, experiencing a burst of flavors, and then soothing it with the dal curry. I repeated this rotation while having a great time.
