When I visited Sakai, I found a great restaurant. I went there for lunch and the cost performance was excellent. The udon noodles had a nice firm texture and I was very satisfied. I also got a rice ball as a set, which had a unique shape, it was quite amusing. I highly recommend you to visit this place at least once!

I went to a udon restaurant as a beginner and had a great experience! We arrived shortly after opening on a weekday and there were only a few customers. We decided to share a bukkake udon, which was delicious. I ordered my usual curry udon with chicken tempura and my friend got the bukkake udon with chicken tempura. We also added a side of mixed rice for only 100 yen during lunchtime. The udon noodles were thin and chewy, which I really enjoyed. The curry udon had a good balance of flavors, not too spicy but with a strong dashi taste. The chikuwa was thick and tasty, and the soft-boiled egg was perfectly cooked. The mixed rice was a great deal with a generous portion and a nice mix of ingredients. Overall, I was very satisfied with the meal and enjoyed the experience.

In the summer, I really want to dig into some cold udon noodles in Sakai Higashi!! I love this restaurant~ Let's go again✩.*˚ During lunchtime, the place was quite busy with customers bustling around the counter. I checked out the menu and ordered the cold udon set with tempura on the side. The udon noodles were slightly thick and the tempura assortment, with shrimp tempura as the highlight, arrived one by one. Slurping the noodles and munching on the tempura was satisfying, with a refreshing coolness. The chewiness and bounce of the noodles, along with the combination of bonito and kelp broth, were truly irresistible. The freshly fried vegetable tempura, with shiso leaves, baby corn, eggplant, and shiitake mushrooms, was delicious. I especially loved the crispy and juicy shrimp tempura. This cold udon dish is perfect for the summer! I highly recommend "Sakai Udon Chihaya"! MASARU's favorite~☆ It was a delightful reunion after a year, enjoying the ¥120 extra cold udon set... (laughs)

In a side street off the shopping street in Sakai Higashi, there is an udon restaurant that serves thin noodles at night. The large parking lot in front is convenient. I ordered tempura shrimp, fish cake, and fried tofu. The tempura isn't incredibly delicious, but it's good when eaten with the broth. The udon noodles are thin and easy to slurp down, lacking firmness. The broth is a nice mix of flavors, not too sweet for the fried tofu.

I went to have lunch at a restaurant I had been curious about for a while. I ordered the toriten bukkake udon and kakiage rice. The udon was firm but still chewy and not too hard. The bukkake broth was a bit sweet for my liking as I prefer to adjust the seasoning myself. The toriten was tender and although it was on the smaller side, there were plenty of pieces. The kakiage rice was flavorful but not too salty, and I enjoyed it. Overall, the toriten bukkake and kakiage rice were delicious. If this restaurant was nearby, I would definitely visit it regularly. I drove my beloved car there and found the parking right in front of the restaurant to be a bit expensive. I recommend parking a bit further away where there are more options available.

I had the popular udon dish "Chiku Tamaten Bukkake" for lunch in Sakai. During lunchtime (11:00-14:00), you can add kakiage rice, inari, onigiri, or white rice for just 100 yen. The udon has a firm texture and a good chewiness. The freshly fried chikuwa and egg were also excellent. I enjoyed it very much, thank you for the meal!

I've been in Osaka for 10 years now, but isn't this summer too hot? The air conditioning doesn't seem to work at all. It's so hot that it's affecting my appetite... When it's hot like this, cold udon noodles are the way to go! On this day, with the drizzling rain making it humid, I heard there was a delicious udon restaurant in Sakai Higashi called "Chihaya," so I decided to check it out. You can choose between thick noodles and thin noodles, which is quite unusual! Normally I prefer thick noodles, but because it was hot that day, I decided to go with cold thin noodles. My order was the Thin Noodle Oroshi Bukkake (Cold) for 680 yen, while my partner went for the most popular menu item. I was tempted by the limited-time "Tonkotsu and Shoga Tempura Bukkake Udon - Tongari-kun," but due to my decreased appetite, I had to pass. My simple "thin noodle bukkake" came with plenty of grated daikon radish. The combination of ginger, lemon, and green onions was vibrant and really whetted my appetite! Yes, this is it! This is the one! When it's hot, this is definitely the way to go! The thin noodles had a good chewiness and were smooth and easy to eat. But even though I ordered thin noodles, I still think udon tastes better with thick noodles. Next time, I definitely want to choose thick noodles. The new part-time girl was cute and working hard. The slightly intimidating head chef teaching her was also heartwarming. I later found out that this head chef trained at the renowned udon restaurant "Shiroan." A firm chewiness stands out more with thick noodles, I feel! Thank you for the meal!

"Sakai Udon Chi-haya" in Sakai Higashi, Osaka. Thick noodles for lunch and thin noodles for dinner, but they can make thick noodles even at night if requested, although it takes 30 minutes. I wanted thick noodles, so I waited while drinking. New ginger tempura udon with dashi tofu. Toriten bukkake with thick noodles that are so chewy you can't slurp them up. There were 5 pieces of toriten with juicy meat. So delicious! I want to go again."

Today's lunch is at a udon restaurant near Sakaihigashi Station. Located just a short walk from the station, Sakai Udon Chihaya is known for their popular Toriten Bukkake dish, so I decided to play it safe and ordered that. You can choose between thick or thin udon noodles, and I opted for the thin ones. The udon arrived in about 10 minutes. As requested, the udon noodles were thin with a firm texture and good elasticity. The broth was clear and refreshing, with a strong dashi flavor. The Toriten, although small in size, came with five pieces. The crispy coating and juicy interior made it a delicious addition to the meal. The price was 900 yen, and during lunch hours (11:00-14:00), you can add rice dishes (side dishes, inari sushi, rice balls, etc.) for an additional 100 yen. While the prices may be a bit high due to the convenient location near the station, Sakaihigashi is known for two popular udon shops: Chihaya and Yamachan. If you're a fan of curry udon, Yamachan is the place to go, but if you prefer bukkake style udon and want to avoid long lines, Chihaya is the better choice. This is just my personal opinion. Thank you for the meal!

I wanted to try this udon restaurant that is a little bit away from the shopping street. I arrived before 1:00 PM and they were already sold out of the mixed rice with toppings. I had to settle for white rice with thick and firm noodles, which were chewy but not gummy. The chicken tempura was on the smaller side with 5 pieces, crispy type. The broth was slightly sweet and not very memorable, but overall it was quite delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Ordered the Kake Udon Tempura Set in April 2023. Had some business in Sakai and felt like eating udon, so decided to visit. The udon had a great texture, the broth was flavorful, and the tempura was crispy. Overall, everything was delicious. The only downside was the high price of the nearby parking lot.

Last time in January, when I came to Gin's Noodles, I found an udon restaurant right in front of the coin parking where I parked my car. And guess what, it turned out to be the popular Sakai Udon Chiya-san! Today, I parked my car in the same coin parking in front of the shop and headed inside. It was lunchtime, so the shop was almost full. I ordered the Toriten Bukkake and waited a few minutes. The udon noodles were delicious, made from wheat flour. The Toriten, a classic dish, had large pieces that were easy to eat. Chiya-san kindly serves them in a size that is easy to eat, which is good. Personally, I prefer biting into a big piece of Toriten, but this size is also good.

I happened to find this restaurant on the map and it said the rice bowls are amazing, so I decided to go. It was lunchtime but not crowded, so I could get a table right away. I had the tempura chicken rice bowl and it was exactly my type, so delicious! I was surprised to find such a delicious restaurant in Sakaihigashi. I want to try other varieties too. The tempura chicken was huge and so good.

I visited in search of a dish from Shime and Udon with a firm texture. I was intrigued by another person's post about thin noodles in the evening! However, the udon I received was almost mushy and lacked any firmness! Next time, I will try visiting during the day.

Today I had work in Sakai. I came across this restaurant that caught my eye. It's called "Funmon Kingdom" and their udon noodles are top-notch. Plus, it's in a merchant town. It has to be delicious and affordable to survive. The restaurant is located a bit off the main shopping street, so I parked at a coin parking lot and walked a bit. It was lunchtime and I was worried about having to wait in line, but I was able to walk in without any wait. The menu looked really appetizing with options like bukkake udon and raw soy sauce udon, but I was drawn to the seasonal limited menu of firefly squid and rapeseed flower tempura bukkake udon. I ordered that along with some inari sushi. First, the inari sushi. It was bigger and plumper than I had imagined (laughs). And it was really delicious. The sweetness was subtle, and the vinegar was not overpowering. It paired well with the udon's raw soy sauce. It was so tasty that I could easily finish it without any trouble. Then the udon noodles. I had always thought of Osaka udon as soft, but this restaurant's noodles had a good firmness to them. They were similar to Sanuki udon. The firm noodles paired well with the bukkake sauce. The broth was not too salty, and it was packed with umami flavor. The soy sauce and bonito flakes were perfectly balanced. This time, the broth came with firefly squid and rapeseed flower tempura. The tempura bits added more depth to the broth, creating a perfect flavor. Plus, the bitterness of the firefly squid complemented the udon well. The balance of flavors was amazing, and if this restaurant was near my home, it would definitely become a regular spot for me. If I ever come back to Sakai, I would love to visit this restaurant again.

☆彡During the day, you can enjoy thick and chewy udon at a popular restaurant in Sakai Higashi that I was curious about. The thick udon takes 20 minutes to boil and 30 minutes to cool, so during the day they have a certain amount already boiled, but at night they boil it after receiving the order. This takes time, so I think they serve thin udon at night (although you can still order thick udon like during the day if you prefer). They also serve alcohol at night, and the menu board visible from the counter is filled with a variety of alcoholic drinks and snacks. On this day, it was a non-drinking day for me, so I stuck to just the udon. I ordered the Chicken Tempura Bukkake Cold Udon (900 yen) with an extra 1.5 servings of noodles (+200 yen). When it was served, I couldn't help but exclaim "Wow" at the large, impressive bowl that looked luxurious and made me happy. The thin noodles had a strong chewy texture when lifted, yet were easy to eat with a smooth throat sensation. The combination of softness and firm chewiness was delicious. Another favorite menu item of mine here is the chicken tempura. The tender chicken thigh meat is marinated in sauce and quickly fried, resulting in juicy meat juices overflowing from the fresh thigh meat. The size is easy to eat and the cooking is perfect. I didn't notice during the day when I visited a few times, but apparently smoking is allowed at night... There were no customers around, but I noticed the ashtray on the table. So be aware of smoking at night. The strong chewiness of the thin udon is also recommended (^ω^*) -----------------------------Thank you for reading until the end. I went to my first blood donation day of the year. Now Sakai Higashi is my home ground. It's been a while, Chihaya-san. It's a cold day, but I hesitated a bit and went with the cold udon set. The cold udon comes with tempura, including shrimp, eggplant, baby corn, shiitake mushrooms, and shiso leaf. I prefer the tempura served separately, so I chose this set. I don't like when the tempura batter gets soggy from the broth getting cloudy. Salt is served separately. The udon noodles are thick and firm. Grated ginger is served on the side. The chewy udon is delicious as always. The broth is refreshing but also flavorful. The tempura is crispy. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Green onions, grated ginger.

Sakai Udon Chihaya in Sakai Higashi. I was curious about this udon shop. There were seats available. I ordered the Toriten Bukkake (900 yen) and it was ready in 6 minutes. The noodles were thin and different, but chewy and delicious! The chicken tempura was juicy and went well with the bukkake sauce, delicious! The sesame was unlimited and also a good match! I ordered a small portion, but it was originally small so I finished it in 3 bites. Maybe I should have ordered a normal portion... haha It was delicious!

"I came to try the "toriten bukkake" (900 yen), "udon 1.5 servings" (+200 yen), and "mixed rice" (+100 yen) at this restaurant for the first time. I had been wanting to visit this place in Sakai area for a while. Finally, I had the chance as I had some business in Sakai Higashi. The usual menu for me - toriten bukkake with mixed rice set. It's a common thing that when you visit a new place, the food is about to arrive. The dishes appeared - the udon bowl looked big so the mixed rice seemed small, but it was actually a sufficient amount. The udon had thick noodles which I like. The texture was just right, not too firm or too soft. I thought maybe I should have ordered 2.0 servings of udon. The udon was delicious. The toriten, although not very big, had a different taste than expected, but it was a special taste that I liked. It exceeded my expectations and I was impressed. The ratings on Tabelog were accurate."

In Sakai East, there are many highly rated udon restaurants. Chihaya is one of them, known for its thick noodles. I ordered curry udon and grated daikon udon. The noodles are indeed very thick! I have never seen noodles this thick before! The texture is excellent with outstanding firmness. The curry sauce is also gentle and the fried tofu adds a nice touch. The chicken tempura topping pairs very well too. It was delicious!
