Sapporo, Kotoni. Between Kotoni Subway Station and JR Kotoni Station, JR Kotoni Station is closer. Located on the 2nd floor of a building along Kotoni Hondori, there is an izakaya called "Shun-sai Teru." You can see a white noren at the back of the corridor on the 2nd floor. Inside, there are counter seats along the open kitchen on the left, a raised seating area on the right side of the counter, and table seats lined up by the window. The interior is a Japanese-style with a calm and dark color scheme, playing jazz music in the background. The lighting is moderate, with orange pendant lights hanging above the counter. The wooden chairs at the table seats are comfortable. Good furniture makes for a cozy atmosphere. Despite the name "Shun-sai," the recommended menu items feature seasonal flavors. From the selection, I chose a few dishes.
- Live Matukawa Flounder Sashimi: The texture was good, but it lacked sweetness and richness, possibly due to the small size of the fish.
- Boiled Fresh Fall Peanuts from Ebetsu: Delicious, sweet, and hot.
- Natural Maiko Mushroom Tempura: Crispy and well-sized, with a pleasant aroma.
- Poached Conger Eel with Ume Plum Sauce: The eel was slightly undercooked, and the skin preparation was lacking.
- Kutchan Saury Namero: A recommended dish not on the menu, made upon request. It was excellent, with a balanced miso flavor and a tender texture.
- Eggplant Cheese Tadaku: A common dish, but tasty with flavorful miso.
Overall, the dishes were quite delicious, except for the Matukawa Flounder and Conger Eel. The variety of seafood and sashimi on the menu was impressive. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the prices were reasonable. The total bill for one person was around 3500 yen. The restaurant offers a good selection of sake and fruit liqueurs, making it a convenient place for casual dining. The manager, who resembled the French chef Kawagoe, greeted us with a smile similar to Kawagoe's after settling the bill.
