I had been checking this shop on Twitter for a while and it was a place I had always wanted to visit. The shop is located a few minutes' walk from Otaru Station, but there is also a cafe at the back of the same building, which may be a little hard to find. We managed to find the shop and entered. The space inside was smaller than I expected, with the aroma of coffee filling the air. There were about 4 groups of customers already there. Some people were buying coffee beans, so we were able to sit at a vacant table by the window. Inside the shop, there were coffee beans, coffee books, and many jazz books, which seemed to be the owner's hobby. On that day, we ordered the Chaff Blend for 500 yen, the Decaf for 500 yen, and the Gateau Chocolat for 300 yen. It was great that they offered decaf coffee! The Chaff Blend had a mild bitterness and was smooth and easy to drink. The decaf was from Guatemala and was also easy to drink! The Gateau Chocolat we ordered was very rich, moist, and delicious!! I will definitely repeat the baked goods next time. Thank you for the meal.

We chose Coffee House Chaff for our second day cafe during our trip to Hokkaido (Sapporo and Otaru). We stumbled upon this lovely cafe while strolling around Otaru, located on a quiet street. It's a small and cute cafe run by an individual. They also sell coffee beans. There was only one other group of customers when we arrived, a couple who seemed like foreign tourists. They tried to leave a tip but the staff politely refused. I always feel like honest and sincere places like this have trustworthy flavors. We ordered two Chaff Blends (500 yen each) and a Gateau Chocolat (300 yen). They also have cheesecake on certain days, so we want to try that next time. They also serve decaf coffee, which is great for those who can't have caffeine. Soon, our coffee and Gateau Chocolat arrived. The Chaff Blend had a mild acidity and a rich aroma, which we both enjoyed. It was a high-quality coffee. The Gateau Chocolat was incredibly rich and smooth, also of high quality. After taking a bite of Gateau Chocolat and a sip of coffee, the chocolate melted in the warmth of the coffee, enhancing the sweetness with the bitterness of the coffee. It was a truly blissful moment. We look forward to trying the cheesecake next time. We had a wonderful time at this cafe we randomly discovered.

In the midst of work in Otaru, I took a break and visited "Café Chaff" for some coffee. The pound cake that day was orange flavored, which I specifically came for as I had enjoyed it before. The coffee I had was a smooth decaf Guatemala blend, with a mellow richness and gentle acidity that paired well with the pound cake. I'll definitely visit again during work breaks. Thank you for the meal!

In Otaru, there is a coffee shop called "Mame Mochi Kaeri El Salvador." They use beans that have won awards like the San Andres Farm, and when brewed, the room is filled with the aroma of coffee. The coffee has a fresh, small berry fruitiness with a seductive touch. When it cools, a deep bass symphony resonates. Truly amazing beans. In Mexico, there is the "Ixhuatlan Barrel Modulation" coffee, aged in whiskey barrels for 70 hours. It has a cute sweet and sour taste with a sharp finish, revealing a hint of whiskey as it cools. It's cool and dry, offering two flavors in one cup of coffee. The Ethiopian "Guji G1 Kercha" coffee is not just fruity, but also has a sparkling acidity that is hard to describe. It's a complex coffee with a solid and calming presence, like a principal. Lastly, the Nicaraguan "Embassy Farm Double Fermentation" has a balanced acidity and the owner passionately talks about coffee, showing a love and dedication to coffee shared by top roasters.

On a certain holiday, during a time when people are curious about how things will change with the new phase, I visited Otaru after a long time. I found a coffee specialty shop called Inaho 3 tucked away behind a building. The parking situation is unknown. The interior of the shop is of decent size for a cafe, with only 2 counter seats and 2 tables, but it has a nice atmosphere with a large and impressive roaster, a collection of coffee beans, and music CDs on display. Good quality Western music is playing as background music. From the menu on that day, I decided to try the "CHAFF Blend (500 yen)" as well as a "cookie (100 yen)" that caught my eye. Although I couldn't see the process, it was probably completed using a pour-over method. So, I took a sip... Hmm, the coffee is stronger than I expected, with a relatively bitter taste. It has a fruity acidity and astringency, rather than a smooth texture and rich flavor. It's the kind of taste that someone who is used to it would keep ordering. The description mentioned "smooth mouthfeel, rounded flavor, and gentle acidity." Next, the two cookies were a thick, buttery cookie that would appeal to everyone, and a chocolate chip cookie. Suddenly, I realized that this was a wonderful place for local customers to enjoy delicious coffee. Thank you for the meal.

I am in Otaru, alone, planning to go bar hopping at night. I had a list of cafes written down to visit before the designated time, but most of them were in the city center and it was difficult to get there by car due to parking issues. The streets were crowded and it didn't seem to work out. So, I decided to go to a cafe that seemed to be off the main street. I put it in the navigation system, but still couldn't find it. I eventually gave up and checked into a hotel before heading back to the town. Then, I noticed a cafe on the right side that looked like "Coffee House Chaff." It was just a simple cafe in the back of a building. I had mistakenly said "I'm here" on the opposite side of the building earlier. It is located on the first floor of an old building with a clean exterior. Inside, there were two people drinking coffee at the counter. I sat at a table and ordered a "Guatemala" coffee for 450 yen. It was a lovely place with a couple running it, I assume. There were four seats at the counter and three tables for two. The coffee was brewed carefully with a pour-over method and served after 10 minutes. It was strong and flavorful, with a slight acidity that was just right. The coffee was delicious. As I walked, I saw three people smoking in front of the civic center, possibly a Shinto priest.

This is a take-out coffee from Coffee House CHAFF in Otaru, where you can enjoy authentic freshly roasted coffee. The rich aroma fills the car with a pleasant coffee scent. I could feel the depth and subtle deliciousness, with a deep and rich flavor. The coffee here is definitely delicious. I would love to come back and drink it again if I have the chance. I discovered a café at the central market that was covered by scaffolding for a while and I didn't notice it. The coffee looked delicious so I decided to stop by. There was a local resident already there and another person who seemed to know the owner. They had a variety of single-origin coffees to choose from, and the owner picked a good one for me based on my preferences. The portion of cake was just right, and the coffee even came with a piece of chocolate, making it a relaxing moment. The cold brew coffee was also delicious, so I would like to go back to buy a different type of beans next time.

Otaru Central Market. The shop is located in the fourth long building facing the sea from the intersection of Funamizaka slope. It opened in February 2017. It's cold, isn't it? The temperature in late May is 10 degrees. So my partner and I decided to have some coffee. Inside the bright shop with a white theme, the aroma was delightful. I had the Brazil Sakura Bourbon coffee, which had a deep and rich flavor. The temperature of the coffee was just right, and I noticed a thermometer on the drip pot as well. Freshly ground, freshly brewed, delicious coffee. My partner had a latte, enjoying the delicate and fluffy foam. It was delicious. A great coffee shop we found locally. It may seem unexpected to find such a place here, but it's worth looking for if you want a delicious cup of coffee on your journey.

I am hand-dripping freshly roasted coffee beans. The recommended coffee by the store manager was Ethiopia Ilgacheffe G1 Washed, which had a high aroma and a good balance of sweetness, richness, and depth. It was brewed at the right temperature and tasted delicious. I also tried the sweets. The apple gâteau invisible had a strong cinnamon scent, and I could sense the homemade feel. I enjoyed both the plain and cocoa flavors. The interior of the shop is designed in a style that I like, and the atmosphere is comfortable with tasteful background music. I'm not sure if it's run by a couple, but both of them were friendly, and the owner had a lovely smile. I parked at the Otaru Central Market parking lot and walked to the shop, which was located in the farthest building from the third to the first building. Although I remembered seeing the third and second buildings before, it was my first time visiting in person...
