Today, I visited Asahiyama Zoo in Asahikawa. Even though it's a weekday, the zoo was crowded with visitors. Among them, I had my favorite soft serve ice cream. I tried the Raspberry Soft Serve for 550 yen. There were many shops around, but the soft serve from this shop was delicious too.

I visited the "Asahiyama Zoo Club Higashimon Shop" on May 28th. I have visited many times before, but usually just for soft serve ice cream. Today, I decided to try the bread from the shop next door, so I also got a drink. The shop's sign now says "Ikoi no Hiroba SHOP." I chose the Soft Drink Set (Coca-Cola) for 530 yen, which included soft serve ice cream and a drink. The cup they provided was impressive, with a plastic cup for the ice cream on top of the paper cup for the drink, and a straw that could be inserted for easy carrying. It's a unique idea, although I can only think of using it at outdoor events or festivals. I couldn't find where they make these cups, but it was interesting. They also had a menu item for Ezo deer Jingisukan Donburi for 750 yen, which I wanted to try, but I felt a bit heavy from earlier in the day. I've never had deer meat before, so I'll definitely try it next time. Thank you for the meal.

On the 4th day of our trip to Hokkaido, we visited Asahikawa Zoo for the first time in the afternoon. We took a bus from Asahikawa Station for about 40 minutes to see various animals at the zoo. We visited the penguin house, seal house, polar bear house, giraffe house, and more, and had a great time. The zoo has many slopes, so we took a break here. We tried "agemochi" for 300 yen, which was a soft and chewy rice cake with a sweet and savory soy sauce glaze. It was so soft and heavy that it almost fell apart when we tried to take a photo holding the skewer. It seemed to be made of potatoes and rice (glutinous rice).

At Asahiyama Zoo. After purchasing, you can eat at the free rest area. The pork bowl and beef bowl are 750 yen each. Not shown in the photo, but there is also yakisoba for 550 yen and a frankfurter for 350 yen. The portion sizes are small for the price, and the seasoning is too strong.

Near the monkey mountain at Asahiyama Zoo, there is a restaurant. I was indecisive, but then I saw a sign saying "If in doubt, go for this!" so I decided to try the pork bowl. It was priced at 750 yen, a bit on the expensive side. The piping hot rice topped with flavorful pork and pickled ginger was delicious. I enjoyed it even though I had a runny nose in January. This meal gave me the energy to continue exploring the zoo in the second half of my visit.

In my fourth year living in Hokkaido, I finally visited Asahiyama Zoo for the first time! It's still around 12°C, so I was able to walk around the zoo without slipping. I came across a food shop and discovered takoyaki skewers (*'▽'*). I knew I had to try them, so I got them to go. The small takoyaki balls came in a set of four and were surprisingly soft, with plenty of mayo on top ( ◠‿◠ )

I came to Asahiyama Zoo on a trip to Hokkaido in early autumn 2022. I am enjoying this romantic journey. The zoo is wide with 7-8 shops, restaurants, and eateries. I had Genghis Khan ramen at the Camuichikap restaurant at the east gate, and bought souvenirs at ZOO Shop CoCoLo, Tailun Tail, and Asahiyama Zoo Club Main Gate Bakery. Each place had slightly different items. One of the souvenirs I found was the Asahiyama Zoo Club Original Cookie, a pack of 12 for 540 yen (tax included). This trip was made possible by a travel voucher from my company for long service. I needed to buy souvenirs for my colleagues, and the Original Cookie seemed like a good choice. It features illustrations of capybaras, seals, and polar bears, individually wrapped. It is the top-selling item in the confectionery section. With a reasonable price of 540 yen for 12 cookies, buying two boxes should be enough to fulfill my responsibility. The Animal Cookies, which cost 200 yen each, can be a nice gift for close friends or family members, while the Original Cookie is suitable for colleagues or neighbors as a souvenir.

"A trip to Asahiyama Zoo Club Higashimon Shop during the second round of Golden Week in Asahikawa. I thought the first round was the end, so I'm grateful for this bonus fun. The main purpose was to visit Asahiyama Zoo, something I've always wanted to see. I parked at the empty Higashimon and walked towards the front, passing by animals I hadn't seen yet while exploring the shop. The fifth stop was the Higashimon Shop, where I found 'animal cookies.' I wasn't too keen on spending 180 yen on them, but since I was told it's okay to have a beer at the Higashimon restaurant, I complied. They had 'wild boar' and 'wolf' cookies. I didn't really want to eat them, they were more like decoration. But I had to try them to write a review. The cookies were a bit hard, with a decent amount of sweetness. They melted in the mouth and were as tasty as expected. Overall, a good cookie despite my initial reluctance."

When it comes to Asahikawa, it's all about Asahiyama Zoo! A few years ago, when I visited Asahikawa, I rushed through it and felt like I missed out, so this time, my plan is to spend a whole day here and take my time. The animal I most wanted to see was the Pallas's cat!! This endangered species is native to high-altitude areas and is extremely susceptible to bacteria, making it difficult to care for and rare to find in zoos. Despite gaining popularity recently due to the cat boom, I have loved this little cat for a long time. Its wild face, fluffy fur, and quirky robot-like movements are just irresistible. The Pallas's cat (named Gruisha) at Asahiyama Zoo seemed more serene and philosophical, gazing into the sky, compared to those at Ueno Zoo or Higashiyama Zoo. After watching for quite some time, I felt the need for a break, so I ordered a strawberry sauce-topped milk soft serve to recharge. I enjoyed it at a nearby covered resting area. Soft serves in Hokkaido are delicious almost anywhere you go, and this one was no exception. It was labeled as additive-free, not overly sweet, with a refreshing aftertaste. The soft serve was generously scooped into a waffle cone cup, offering great value for 350 yen. They also had pita bread and takoyaki skewers on the menu, making it a nice spot for a light break.

Today, I visited the Asahiyama Zoo Club Higashimon Shop. Taste: ★★★★ Service: ★★★ Atmosphere: ★★★★ Cost performance: ★★★ Drink: ★★★ I visited during my trip to Hokkaido. It's a rest area near the east entrance of Asahiyama Zoo. As the outside temperature dropped below zero and my body started to feel cold, I ordered corn potage, potage soup, and buttered potatoes. It seemed like they were made from powder, but I assume that's common at theme park food stalls. The buttered potatoes added a Hokkaido touch with bite-sized potatoes and a nice salty butter flavor. Thank you for the meal.

<What grade?> Honeymoon trip to Hokkaido. Day 6 at noon. Enjoying Asahiyama Zoo♪ It's been a while since I've been to a zoo, but it's still great. Familiar animals like giraffes and lions, as well as penguins and seals like in an aquarium, and even rare animals like Pallas's cats. Next to the enclosures, there are signs written by the keepers about the animals' ecology, illnesses, and even death, which sets it apart from other zoos and piques my interest. Now it's lunchtime and I'm starting to get a bit hungry. We have a reservation for Genghis Khan at 5 o'clock, so just a light snack will do. So, I got this at the shop. [Jundok (Shrimp Fry)] 400 yen ☆2.9. A B-class gourmet near Asahikawa. It's a stick of rice with a side dish wrapped around it. Basically, it's like a stick onigiri. There are 3 types of side dishes: shrimp fry, chicken cutlet, and sausage. I chose the shrimp fry. They warm it up for you. I eat it in the covered resting area next to the shop. When I hold the Jundok, it's hot! Too hot to handle (laughs). I manage to unwrap it and take the first bite, and it's just hot rice. The rice is hot but kind of hard... Doesn't seem like they used good rice. I reach the shrimp fry on my second bite, but I can't taste the shrimp. Is there really shrimp in it? (laughs) The sauce on the shrimp fry is extremely thin, almost tasteless... The only good thing is the heat. Hmm, this is definitely not worth 400 yen. In my mind, the image of "B-class gourmet" is 'a local product of that area, reasonably priced, and somewhat delicious,' but this didn't meet that standard. A shame. If I ever come back to Asahikawa, I'd like to try the chicken cutlet or sausage from a different shop. Spent a full 6 hours enjoying the zoo♪ Asahiyama Zoo is the best!

We had lunch at Asahiyama Zoo♫ We wanted to focus on seeing the animals, so we chose quick and easy menu items. My mother had chicken nuggets and corn pita sandwich, while my son had octopus takoyaki skewers. Both dishes were familiar in taste, but eating them hot while walking around the zoo was the best (*^▽^*) Thank you for the meal~

【2019.6 Guess Trip ☆ Hokkaido Edition Day 2 Snack①】Eating arinco's onigiri on the platform at Sapporo Station, we head to Asahikawa! From Asahikawa Station, we take a bus to Asahiyama Zoo♪ We see this and that, take a break when we get tired~. Even though we're not very hungry, we decided to visit this shop. Sitting on a bench, we tried the following:
- Asahiyama Frappe 480 yen
We could have just gotten a regular drink, but we wanted something photogenic. You can choose the flavor, so I went with Blue Hawaii. I thought it would go well with the polar bear cup, but I've always been a Blue Hawaii shaved ice fan since I was little! What flavor is Blue Hawaii anyway? The shaved ice is normal, but the soft serve on top is surprisingly authentic! It's very rich and delicious (*´ω`*) Truly the taste of Hokkaido! After seeing all the animals at the zoo (we rushed a bit at the end due to the bus schedule), we headed back to Sapporo. chee wasn't very hungry since the indulgence from the night before caught up with her, so she took a rest at the hotel ♡ Nanazou and Natsuki went for ramen by themselves... they're full of energy (;・∀・) Asahiyama Zoo for the second time in two years. It was so much fun♪

Here, here, here!!! A place I absolutely wanted to visit when I went to Hokkaido! Asahiyama Zoo! \(^ω^)/ It's quite a distance and time from Sapporo Station, taking about 2 hours one way by transferring between train and bus. It's also quite far from Asahikawa Station, with a huge site to walk around. If you walk around the whole place, it's a good workout level. The way the animals are exhibited here is the best! They show the natural movements of the animals and the distance is close! Especially the hippos were amazing!!! I was excited the whole time. \(°∀°)/ I walked a lot, so I took a little break. Microsoft soft serve ice cream is just regular soft serve with Milo poured on top, but the soft serve is rich and delicious. When you eat it mixing with Milo, it becomes incredibly delicious with the rich Milo completing in your mouth. I wanted to stay longer, but I have a reservation at a restaurant in the evening, so I reluctantly head back. I stayed longer than I thought and missed the bus, so I couldn't buy any souvenirs.

As we only stayed for an hour and a half at Asahiyama Zoo, we had limited time to explore both the cafe and see all the animals. The character of the girl with a big red ribbon, Ribbon Citron, brought back nostalgic memories. My husband, who loves carbonated drinks, bought a Ribbon Napolin Sapporo drink. I took a photo but unfortunately couldn't save it. The taste was like cider, not as orange-flavored as I imagined. We saw this drink a lot during our trip in Hokkaido, both in stores and vending machines. I wonder if you can find it in local stores as well. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I went to Asahiyama Zoo. For a snack, I had a "JUN DOG" at the Asahiyama Zoo Club East Gate Shop. I had heard on TV before that it was really delicious, so I had high expectations when I tried it, but it wasn't as good as I had hoped. Disappointing!

Family trip day 2 - October 22, 2016
Today we visited Asahiyama Zoo, a family of over 20 years old! Animals are so soothing! It's chilly in Hokkaido though.
① Black and white pony - Ignored us and didn't move, oh well, it's cold in the morning. Are they still having breakfast? Seems grumpy.
② Collared duck - Laughing happily since the morning, surprisingly cute with its coin-like size!
③ Polar bear - Didn't dive into the water as seen on TV, must be too cold.
④ Seal - Got to interact with it through a clear tube, played with me when I spent some time petting it!
There were many mammals, birds, and others. Everyone seems a bit low on energy due to the cold weather. The food inside the park was mainly light snacks with simple flavors.
- Deer meat hamburger: Tasty with a hint of saltiness, not gamey.
- Seaweed dumplings: Chewy and subtly soy-flavored.
- Vegetable tempura udon: Lightly flavored and comforting.
- Salted salmon: Mild and easy to eat.
- Hokkaido cheese croquette: Light and moist with a cheesy center.
- Minced cutlet: Lightly seasoned with ground meat.
- Hokkaido croquette with beef: Hoku Hoku potato with a bit of ground meat.
There are baby-friendly options available, it's a safe restaurant. From giraffes to foxes, leopards, owls, cranes, penguins, rabbits, and crows, we learned a lot!
Enjoy with your loved ones and take care of the seasons. Have a great time!

I headed out to grab a light meal around noon on a regular day. There were 15 people ahead of me, but I finally made my purchase at 12:20. I bought the "Pita Bread with Potato and Cheese ¥500" and the "Fried Mochi and Soft Serve Ice Cream Set ¥500." The Pita Bread had stretchy cheese and tender potatoes with a hint of pizza sauce sandwiched between the bread. The cheese and potatoes were so delicious that I finished it in no time. It was quite a delightful encounter in the northern region. The fried mochi had a nice soy sauce flavor with seaweed as a good accent. Just when my mouth started to feel salty, I had the ice cream. The ice cream was rich in milk and sweet, but surprisingly complemented the salty flavors. Both of these dishes were not to be underestimated.
