I stopped by for lunch in Toyonaka. I had the pork tsukemen and mentaiko rice set for 1,200 yen. It took about 15 minutes to boil the noodles, and then the tsukemen arrived. The chewiness of the udon and the slightly sweet broth of the tsukemen matched well. I was very full, and I think just the udon alone would have been enough. The taste was good.

Lotus root and fish cake tempura with plum and grated radish sauce for ¥980. Additional chicken tempura topping for ¥250. The restaurant was bustling with local families during the holiday lunch hours. While this time I opted for individual items, Yamazen offers hearty set menus. The udon noodles had a decent elasticity and were easy to slurp down. Personally, I think it passes as authentic Sanuki udon. As it's still hot outside, the refreshing combination of plum and grated radish was satisfying. The chicken tempura may not have been freshly fried, but the crispy batter was delicious.

Since I have work again the next day, I didn't want to stay out too late. We decided to meet at the "Udon Restaurant Yamazen" on the way home from the station. I felt like having katsu don, so I ordered a set with mini udon (900 yen + 200 yen). Although it is an udon restaurant, Yamazen also serves delicious fried foods such as tonkatsu and tempura. The pork in the tonkatsu was moist and full of flavor, very delicious. The mini udon had a gentle broth that was comforting. I was completely satisfied and full.

It's been a while since I visited. It's an udon restaurant, but they also have a wide variety of izakaya menu items such as karaage, eel hot pot, fried tofu, and pork cutlet, all of which are delicious and generous in portion. The udon, both tempura and kitsune, were light and tasty, and you can get up to 2 servings for the same price. Thank you for the meal.

I went during a hot afternoon. It was after 12 o'clock but surprisingly not crowded. The staff recommended curry but it was too hot so I ordered the pork belly tsukemen with mentaiko rice set. The udon arrived surprisingly quickly. The noodles were smooth and the broth was sweeter than Musashino udon, maybe because of the amount of pork belly? Osaka tends to have softer noodles but I was satisfied with the noodles here, the flavorful pork belly broth, the adequate portion, and the retro atmosphere. It was a highly satisfying restaurant.

Seasonal limited cold udon with chikuwa tempura and karaage set: ¥980. The udon noodles had a firm texture and the cold soup had a rich dashi flavor, very delicious. The chikuwa tempura was tasty as well. The karaage had a surprisingly generous portion and the seasoning was light. Overall, I was very satisfied.

Here is Udon-ya Yamazen‼️ This restaurant is well known for its delicious udon noodles, but their side dishes should not be underestimated. Just like their generous udon servings, their side dishes are also full of volume‼️ Their mountain-sized grated yam, deep-fried tofu, and mammoth spicy tsukudani are all amazing✨ I hope this place becomes even busier in the evenings‥.

#Today, I had lunch at Fushimi Tenjin with Yamasan. It was a nice distance for a walk. The curry udon came with spices, which was unusual. I thought it was a bit mild at first, but after taking a bite, I found it to be a gentle curry udon that even children could enjoy. Since I like stronger flavors, I added plenty of spices. I stopped by while having a drink at lunch and visiting the Hattori Tenjin Shrine. Even though it's an udon restaurant, they have a wide variety of side dishes on the menu! The portions of each dish are impressive. Of course, the main udon dish was also excellent. I had the meat udon, and even though I was full, I finished all the broth (laughs). If this place were near my home, I would definitely be a regular customer. It has become one of the restaurants I must visit again.

With an excited feeling, I went to Toyonaka during work breaks. The Chinese restaurant "Chuka Uehara" that I had been wanting to try was closed unexpectedly! Then I tried the nearby "Sanuki Handmade Udon Zenei," but it was also closed unexpectedly! Can you believe it??? Feeling a bit down, I ended up at a udon restaurant a little further away called "Yamazen." Although their curry udon is famous, I decided to try the daily special, Negitoro Donburi with Cold Tempura Udon (900 yen). The noodles had a light chewiness, and the broth for the udon was lightly seasoned and refreshing. The Negitoro Donburi came with quail eggs and was delicious with wasabi soy sauce. The service was excellent, with cloth towels instead of paper ones, and tea served in large cups, which was great for someone like me who likes to drink a lot. The restroom was clean and pleasant as well. Thank you for the meal.

A few minutes from the Hattori Tenjin Station, I visited this restaurant around 9 pm and it was quite crowded. Since I was alone, I was seated at the counter. I ordered the pork cutlet curry udon with tempura and rice. It arrived in about 10 minutes. They provided a washable vinyl apron. The curry was light and slightly sweet with a rich broth, and the noodles were soft with little chewiness. The pork cutlet had a crispy coating and a firm texture, allowing you to savor the meat. The portion was quite generous, and I was full after finishing the meal. Thank you for the delicious meal.

On a certain day in May 2023, I went out to have lunch. I had the Ume Wakame Udon for 800 yen. The rich flavor of the broth, combined with the perfect balance of seaweed and the sourness of plums, made it even more delicious. The hand-made uneven udon noodles had a great texture! The slightly thin, flat udon noodles were uneven, a characteristic of hand-made noodles. They had a chewy texture and paired perfectly with the dashi soup. The set included three pieces of half-cut fried tofu, nori, and green onions. The mixed rice was soaked in the dashi soup, full of rich flavors. It's a little after 1 pm on Sunday. I waited outside for about 3-4 minutes. I heard that the curry udon here is delicious, so I tried the chicken mince and soft-boiled egg curry. The chicken mince was sweet and tasty. They also offer kaki fry (fried oysters) for 590 yen for 5 pieces, which made me want to come back for a drink at night. Next time, I'll consider my options carefully.

I stopped by for lunch as I was nearby for work. It was early in the day on a weekday, but the restaurant was almost full. It seems to be a popular place. I had planned to try the katsu curry udon based on other reviews, but I couldn't find it on the menu and ended up ordering the b set of warm egg curry udon. After I ordered, I noticed the service menu on the back of the regular menu and felt disappointed for missing it. As for the taste, the udon had a firm and chewy texture. The curry was a slightly spicy Japanese-style curry with a strong dashi flavor. Personally, I think it would have been tastier without the warm egg. I would like to try the katsu curry udon next time.

We arrived at the restaurant around 18:30 on a regular day with 4 people. We were seated at a table right away. We ordered the following dishes: Fried oysters set meal, Kids' set meal, Katsu curry udon with a soft-boiled egg topping, and Yamasan's curry udon with Set A and chikuwa tempura topping. Set A comes with white rice and salad. The standard portion of fried oysters was 5 pieces, but you can add more if you want. The food arrived in about 10 minutes. The fried oysters came with homemade tartar sauce, which was really tasty. The curry udon was indeed delicious, as described on the menu. The curry soup was so good that we finished every last drop. It was a great meal. Thank you. We want to come back again.

On a cold day, you'll feel even more inclined to visit the famous store "Yamazen" in Fukuoka Tenjin. To fully enjoy an adult holiday, I decided to skip the udon and ordered beer, katsudon, and cream croquettes. My wife wanted something to warm her up, so she ordered the meat udon. The udon was delicious, and there were many other tasty options on the menu as well.

Udon restaurant Yamazen in Osaka, Minoh. Popular udon spot. I had curry udon with karaage and rice on the side. The curry udon had meat, soft-boiled egg, and karaage - delicious broth, udon, and egg, the best combination. The rice was also amazingly tasty. If you want to eat delicious udon, you should definitely go to Yamazen!

The udon noodles have a great texture, the cold udon broth is delicious, and cold udon is perfect for hot weather. The curry udon also has a strong broth flavor. When I added 1-2 shakes of spice, it became very spicy. The service from the staff is good, making me want to come back again.
