It’s New Year’s and I wanted to go out, so I thought it would be nice to stay at a pet-friendly hotel. However, the options are quite limited! I found that this suite room allows pets, so I decided to go there. It seems to be a hotel where weddings were held, as the entrance is quite gorgeous. Right in front of the entrance, there’s a nice dog park as well. The room is called a suite, but it seems like it was renovated from two previous rooms. It’s spacious, but it has a somewhat odd vibe; it lacks the stylishness and functionality one would expect. The bathroom is unnecessarily large, but the bathtub and shower are combined, similar to a unit bath. The food was decent. Everything tasted good, but nothing stood out as exceptional. It really felt like the kind of meal you would get at a wedding. The strawberries for dessert were a bit lacking in freshness. Nevertheless, I appreciate that this hotel still allows dogs in the restaurant, as there aren’t many that do.

Many restaurants are closed during the New Year, and it's especially challenging to find a pet-friendly place. So, I reserved a breakfast at a restaurant for New Year's Day morning. I was so excited about enjoying a traditional New Year’s meal at the hotel! However, despite not having many customers, I had to wait a long time to be seated, wait again for the meal to be served, and the venue was quite cold—what a triple hassle (laughs). The New Year’s meal wasn't very impressive either. There was ozoni soup, but I assume it takes time to prepare the grilled rice cakes. If they could bring the pre-prepared New Year’s meal first and offer some sake or a traditional new year’s drink, it would have satisfied both my appetite and mood. Please do that starting next year!

Going out with my dog is such a joy, especially to places like Shonan Kamakura. There are quite a few dog-friendly spots to visit. However, there aren't many hotel options, so we decided to splurge a bit and stay at this suite-friendly hotel. It seems that it was originally a venue for regular weddings, and there are plenty of Instagram-worthy spots. Since it was around the New Year, they even served soba for New Year's Eve. All the guests were also dog owners, allowing us to enjoy our time in the restaurant without worry. Many restaurants close during the New Year, so we made sure to reserve both nights at the hotel in advance. The following day we had French cuisine, but the first day was Chinese. Both the French and Chinese meals were quite tasty. There’s a dog run right in front of the entrance, which was great for socializing with other dog owners. Considering it was the New Year period, I thought the pricing was reasonable. The next day, we had a spacious room, but the shower was in the bathroom, which was a bit disappointing. The amenities provided were good though. I might consider returning if there aren’t more pet-friendly hotel and restaurant options available. I really hope more pet-friendly hotels and restaurants pop up in the future.

I made a reservation for a lunch set and visited the restaurant. You can also take photos at a photo booth during lunch. Many people bring their dogs, but cats are welcome too, so I decided to check it out ❤️. I had a creamy chicken stew made with brand-name chicken, which was quite easy to eat, although I found the flavor a bit on the rich side. It comes with rice, which balances it out perfectly. The hot coffee was very drinkable, with just the right amount of bitterness. After lunch, I moved up to the 6th floor for the photo shoot; of course, my model was Mill-kun ❤️, but he was really active! I took the pictures by myself and ended up sweating a lot. I learned that the photo booth changes once a month, so I definitely want to come back ❤️.

Today, I stayed at a hotel that allows dogs and features a wedding venue. I was able to enjoy my stay thanks to the Kanagawa Travel Discount Campaign. I didn't opt for dinner but included breakfast. I had the choice of Japanese or Western style, and I ended up choosing the former. On the day of my visit, no one else was having breakfast besides us! The meal included rich mackerel, hot tofu, egg omelette, miso soup, freshly cooked rice from a pottery pot (rice variety: Tenkomori), and a luxurious selection of nine side dishes for the two of us. Normally, guests would pick three side dishes, but since there were few people using the breakfast service that day, we were kindly told we could eat as much as we wanted! Naturally, we finished everything completely. Thank you very much! There are many stylish cafes nearby where I could have breakfast with my dog, so it was a tough decision, but I was very satisfied with my choice. *Rating at the time of visit: 3.00*

Since it's a package plan, I don't know the price. Breakfast requires a reservation, which I made for 8 AM. It was presented beautifully, reminiscent of afternoon tea! The bread was all-you-can-eat, with different varieties from what was served the night before. The omelette was also very delicious. I was able to enjoy a balanced meal with plenty of vegetables. Freshly brewed coffee was available for refills. Everything was very tasty!

I stayed at the Shonan Kamakura Crystal Hotel, which allows you to stay with your dog! In the evening, we enjoyed a full-course dinner featuring Shonan vegetables prepared in a French style. This was included in our accommodation plan, so I’m not sure about the price. We toasted with non-alcoholic beer! Not only can dogs join us at the table, but you can also order from the Doggy CAFE menu for your furry friend! The menu clearly lists all the ingredients used, such as rice flour, eggs, and butter. They don’t make anything in advance; everything is cooked fresh after you order. I ordered an original three-item platter for 1,500 yen, featuring Shonan young sardines, Kamakura vegetable pork aspic, and purple sweet potato crepes. We got some great shots—it looked super cute! For the main course, we enjoyed a soup made with Kamakura broccoli, Argentine red shrimp with caviar, homemade crab flan served with a special hotel consomme, pan-fried flatfish, and roasted Aikagawa beef fillet with potato dauphine. For dessert, there was homemade yogurt with cheese and berries, followed by Shonan honey coffee. Just when I thought it was over, we were treated to a special dessert from the hotel chef! The bread and yogurt were homemade too. Since they often handle large wedding receptions, the timing was perfect and everything was served hot. The balance of meat, fish, and vegetables was just right, and everything was delicious—I was completely satisfied!

Shonan Crystal Hotel is the only resort-style city hotel in Fujisawa. As of May 3, 2019, it has no ratings on Tabelog and just one review. Located inside Shonan Mall Fil, "Waku Waku Hiroba" rated 3.01, offers a variety of baked goods. This area mainly features breads from several local bakeries in the Shonan region. Notable places include: - Bourangerie YUI - 3.51, Fujisawa City, Karasawa - Uruusu - 3.25, Fujisawa City, Kugenuma - Loir Kōgetsu-dō - 3.06, Fujisawa City, Nagago - CHOU CHOU - 3.08, Kamakura Deepzawa - Bakery For Shonan - 3.05, Fujisawa City, Tsujido By the way, has "Karahae" disappeared? They opened at Terrace Mall but then quickly stopped their sales… it's quite disappointing. Upon researching, it seems they went bankrupt. I used to visit often, so it feels like a reminder of the impermanence of things. In place of that, a newcomer to the scene is the bakery section from "Shonan Crystal Hotel." It is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Fujisawa Station and is the only resort-style lodging in the city. With the Fujiwara Grand Hotel closing down at the north exit, it seems to be a rare lodging option that isn't just a business hotel. The hotel features European-style architecture and has a church annex, making it popular for weddings. Inside, there’s a Chinese restaurant called "Suishō" rated at 3.03. However, besides my review, there are no others… so I wonder if everything will be alright. Their homemade bread is showcased in this corner, including the staple "pan de mie" as well as sweet breads like anpan and melon bread. Among these, I picked up the "Fromage Noix" priced at 160 yen plus tax. This is a walnut bread filled with cream cheese and baked with honey drizzled on top. The dough is not hard but rather soft. I didn’t really sense any differentiation from regular town bakery offerings; it felt quite ordinary. The cream cheese and honey didn’t particularly stand out either. Still, the level of individual bakery shops has risen tremendously, and honestly, this one tends to get overshadowed. The bread market here is fiercely competitive! On this day, I went for a walking tour in Shonan and Kamakura. I stopped by a certain location to get some bread. Please note that this review is based on products purchased at a pop-up sales event and not from an actual visit to the store itself, so I ask for your understanding as this falls under a non-typical usage review. The bread in question is homemade at the Shonan Crystal Hotel, located about a 4-minute walk from the south exit of JR Fujisawa Station. This homemade bread is served to hotel guests during breakfast, so it can be somewhat difficult for the general public to access it. However, if you make a reservation a week in advance, you can pick it up at the hotel front desk. Taking advantage of this opportunity, I decided to try it out. On this day, there were various types of breads available including savory breads, sweet breads, and baked sweets. I chose to purchase a Cheese Dog for 160 yen (excluding tax). Now, for the lunch taste test: The Cheese Dog is a small, dog-shaped bread. However, it's not a sandwich type; the filling is wrapped inside the bread. The top of the bread is topped with cheddar cheese, and the dough itself is mixed with shredded cheese, enclosing a thin sausage. The bread has a cheesy flavor and is quite chewy. The quality of the sausage is decent, nothing too special but not bad either. Overall, it left me with the impression of a smaller, wrapped sausage cheese dog. Considering that it’s a hotel-made bread priced at 160 yen (excluding tax), I think it’s relatively inexpensive. Thank you for the meal! (As of April 26, 2019, no points were earned.)
