Hankyu Various Lines Osaka Umeda Station is a 3-minute walk away. This is a confectionery shop located on the B1 floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store, operated by Gokan Co., Ltd. The brand was established in 2003 and currently has a total of 8 stores in the Kansai region. They specialize in incorporating rice as an ingredient in Western-style confectionery, aiming to create confectionery that resonates with the hearts of Japanese people. They have a strong commitment to products using rice flour. A key product they have been making since their founding is the "Rice Flour Roll Cake", made with 100% Niigata Koshihikari rice flour, rolled with domestic Tanba black beans and fresh cream. It is still prominently displayed in the showcase as a main product.
- Ripe Strawberry Tartlet 648 yen
A tartlet with frangipane jam and almond cream on top of the tart dough. It is then layered with custard cream, fresh cream, and strawberries, creating a tart with plenty of cream. The appearance is vibrant with plenty of strawberries. The rich fresh cream, rich custard cream, and crispy tart dough. Overall, there are many sweet ingredients, but the balance of sweetness is achieved with the strawberries and frangipane jam. I didn't feel like having a roll cake this time, so I bought a tart instead. However, it was so delicious that I wished I had also bought the roll cake. Next time I visit, I would like to try the roll cake or madeleines made with rice flour. Thank you for the meal.

Enjoying Osaka souvenirs for dessert! The Black Bean Madeleine is delicious, with black beans inside providing a natural sweetness and a chewy texture typical of beans. The deliciousness of stability. Today, I bought a rice flour roll cake. The combination of rice flour and black beans somehow makes me feel less guilty, and I end up eating too much. The affordable price is also one of its attractions. It's been a while since I last bought it, but it was still delicious as ever.

The package says "Sabure" so I'm not sure if it's okay to call it a cookie, but it was a delicious Japanese-style cookie. The black beans were irresistible. The black beans that go well with rice crackers become a nicely balanced Japanese-Western fusion baked good in the hands of Gokan. Light, elegant, and easy to eat. Thank you for the meal.

I bought 4 peach shortcakes. They consist of sponge cake with cream and peaches inside, topped with mint jelly and cassis. I also bought an additional rice flour roll cake made with Niigata-grown Koshihikari rice flour, domestic black soybeans (Tamba Kuro), and Hokkaido cream.

In the middle, there are rice flour cookies poured in. They are fragrant and cute, so I would like to repeat when I use Osaka Station next time. They wrap the box in wrapping paper on the spot, so it's also good for souvenirs.

I first tried "Honoichi" almost 10 years ago. I thought it was such a delicious cookie at the time! But having it again after a long time, I feel like the initial excitement has faded.
The rice cracker cookie combination is enjoyable when you think of it as a "rice cracker cookie". However, when you consider each separately, there are probably tastier rice crackers and cookies out there.
I bought the "Honoichi" Uji stone-ground green tea flavor for the first time because my child loves matcha. But isn't the flavor more like "seaweed" than matcha...? I thought it was too strong, and then I noticed that seaweed is included in the ingredients. Next time, I want to try the fruit-flavored Honoichi that I have never bought before. I also want to try the recommended pure raw roll made from rice that my friend suggested, which stimulates the five senses.
The atmosphere of the confectionery floor at Hankyu Umeda is unique! It has a stylish and high-class feel. I feel like you don't see such glamorous confectionery floors in the Tokyo area.

I really like the roll cakes here. I was surprised when I visited after a few years and found out that the prices have remained the same. I wish other cake shops would follow suit as they have raised their prices too much. I was so impressed that I ended up buying their cakes two days in a row. The cakes are delicious and exquisite.

When buying souvenirs (baked goods) needed for the start of the week, I also bought some for home ^_^ The roll cake had plenty of black beans, the whipped cream was not too sweet, and the sponge made with rice flour was mixed just right. As a whipped cream lover, I found the roll cake a bit lacking. Next was the Lemon Sannen, a lemon cake with lemon peel that smelled wonderful. I wished for a bit more sourness and sweetness, but this was the seasoning by Gokan-san. Thank you for the meal.

Bought a strawberry tart cake for my mother's birthday. It was filled with plenty of strawberries and looked cute in pink. The cream decoration on top was also adorable! Even when it was still in the box, the scent of strawberries was already noticeable. The taste was rich in strawberry flavor but not overpowering, making it easy to eat. The tart crust was moist and delicious.

Five Senses is a renowned cake shop in Kitahama, Osaka. I tried their Mont Blanc Chocolat for 1600 yen at Hankyu Umeda while looking for souvenirs. Just a heads up, make sure to refrigerate this cake as it is recommended on the packaging. Now, onto the taste - the chocolate is relatively sweet and has a pudding-like texture, which is delicious and rich. It's on the sweeter side, so chilling it will enhance the flavors and prevent it from being overly sweet at room temperature. However, the chestnut flavor is a bit lacking. Despite having the skin on, the actual taste of the chestnut is not very pronounced. It might be due to it not being chestnut season, but it's something to note. Overall, it's quite tasty, but considering it's from Five Senses, I believe they can aim for even higher quality. So, please forgive this review for being somewhat critical.

I received a single chestnut-filled chocolate from a relative. Inside the box are three bottles, priced at 1663 yen for a pack of 3. The chocolate is made from carefully selected cocoa, with a whole chestnut inside. The texture, made with fresh cream, is smooth like pudding. The chocolate has no bitterness, is sweet, and has a refreshing aftertaste. While you can feel the texture of the chestnut inside, I was unsure if it really goes well with chocolate pudding. Since preferences for chocolate, chestnuts, and other ingredients can vary, I personally did not feel that this would be suitable as a gift.

I received a gift of "Eemon Sablé" from my relatives, which contains 6 pieces for 712 yen. It is a Japanese sablé made with Hokkaido fermented butter, Hokkaido black soybeans, and cane sugar, among other ingredients excluding almonds. It has a crispy texture with a subtle and fragrant taste of black beans, giving a traditional Japanese feel. It is not too sweet, making it easy to keep eating. The price is reasonable and it is easy to give as a gift to others.

On Saturday or Sunday around 5:00 PM, I lined up at a cake shop in the basement of a department store. They only offer takeout. Located in the Western confectionery section on the 1st basement floor of Hankyu Department Store Umeda in Osaka. They have a wide variety of cakes, both fresh and baked. The fresh cakes are very reasonably priced compared to other department store Western confectionery shops.
- Yuzu and 3 types of cheese Double Fromage: 486 yen including tax
Taste: 3.7 / Cost performance: 4.0
Delicious. Not too sweet, with a nice acidity. The Fromage part has a light mousse-like texture. The base tart is solid. The yuzu accent is great and the balance is good.
- Strawberry and Almond Brownie: 486 yen including tax
Taste: 3.5 / Cost performance: 3.8
Just delicious. More like a chocolate mousse than a brownie. The almonds are a bit rough and give a slightly chewy texture.
Thank you for the meal.

The thick cookies are filled with plenty of crispy and fragrant black beans. As you eat, you can enjoy the crunchy taste and texture of the black beans. While it's common to find beans inside rice crackers, it's quite rare to find cookies where you can distinctly taste the black beans. The cookie dough is crisp and crumbly, not too sweet. Since they are individually wrapped, they make a great souvenir, but be careful as they crumble easily. All five senses are delightful. The sablé cookies are also delicious!

I bought souvenirs at a Western confectionery shop limited to the Kansai region. I purchased the Pure Rice Roll for 1,000 yen, Namaemon-san for 180 yen, Eemon for 180 yen, and Lemon Sann for 200 yen. I thought it would be nice if there was a little more fresh cream in the Pure Rice Roll, but it was still sweet and refreshing, and I felt like I could eat as much as I wanted. The sponge cake was soft and had a good texture. The beans inside didn't taste beany, but had a texture like raw chocolate. Delicious!! Namaemon-san had a slightly choux cream-like texture with a refreshing lemon acidity. It tasted like a baked version of choux cream and was delicious. The Madeleine of Eemon was soft. After the Pure Rice Roll, my favorite was Lemon Sann. The chocolate on top was also delicious!

Located on the basement floor of Hankyu Department Store. Visited for the first time on a weekday night. Japanese chestnut shortcake for 681 yen (tax included): Cream with a gentle sweetness. Topped with two chestnuts. Crushed chestnuts in the cream layer. Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc for 702 yen: The chestnut cream has the true taste of chestnuts. The whipped cream inside is rich. Truly delicious chestnut cakes from Gokan.

I went to a Western confectionery shop called "Gokan Umeda Hankyu Store" near Osaka Station and Umeda Station to buy a birthday cake for my mother. I ordered a Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc for 702 yen each and a pumpkin roll cake for 454 yen each. The Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc had a large chestnut on top and was filled with plenty of chestnut cream, delicious whipped cream, and fluffy sponge cake. My mother enjoyed it and said it was delicious. She also liked the pumpkin roll cake, which had pumpkin inside and a moist and chewy sponge. It was a delicious and enjoyable experience. Thank you for the meal.

- Junsei Rulo made with Koshihikari 100% rice flour is amazing. The texture is so chewy and I love the black beans from Tanba that are scattered throughout. It pairs perfectly with black coffee. And all of this for just 1080 yen, it's such a great deal. The not-too-sweet cream is also delicious. I've tried many roll cakes, but this one definitely ranks in the top three. Thank you for the delicious meal!

- Shine Muscat Shortcake: A light and fluffy sponge cake with a delicate texture, topped with a smooth layer of whipped cream that doesn't overpower the taste of the Shine Muscat. It's a perfect balance.
- Mont Blanc: Not too sweet, with a rich chestnut aroma that spreads in your mouth. The tart crust is crispy.
- Cheesecake: A slightly moist and airy texture, similar to a soufflé. Thank you for the delicious meal.

On Thursday, after leaving the hospital, I stopped by Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Store. It was around 4 o'clock in the evening, but as expected of the basement floor of a department store, it was crowded with people looking for sweets even on a weekday!! It was my sister's birthday, so I planned to buy some Western-style sweets and visited various shops. There were too many Western-style sweet shops, and I wandered around... After much deliberation, I ended up buying a cake at this shop. The total cost for 4 items was 2,516 yen. I accidentally threw away the receipt, so I don't know the price of each cake. When the staff packed the cakes into the box, they showed me how they were arranged in front of me. I think it's a way to confirm the quantity for the buyer, but I felt that it was a polite gesture. When I finished paying and received the cakes, I was happy that they provided a carry-out paper bag. You can also bring your own eco-bag, but a paper bag that fits the cake box and size provides stability and is easy to carry... This service is truly appreciated. After dinner, my family of four enjoyed the cakes. Each of us chose a cake, and I was the last one to choose, but I was happy that the Mont Blanc I wanted was still available (*^^*) haha. The Mont Blanc made with domestically grown Japanese chestnuts has a sweet and rich flavor, with plenty of whipped cream. The cake base has a crispy pie crust texture. Although the Japanese chestnuts are only on the topping and not inside, they are sweet, rich, and delicious. A Mont Blanc with a pie crust base seems unusual, but I personally like it. This was my first purchase, but I'm also interested in the "Pure Raw Roulade Made with Rice." I often stop by Umeda, so I would like to visit again. The cake was delicious. Thank you for the meal☆
