It's been a while since I visited Momiji-an (actually, I've been here a few times before). Today, after having some daytime drinks in a certain place in Esaka, I stopped by here for a meal. The specialty of this place is definitely the kitsune udon, it's really delicious. Not just saying that, it's really delicious. I also like Sanuki udon with its firm and chewy texture, but this smooth and chewy Osaka-style udon is also delicious. The broth is elegant, it has a different aroma, similar to the soup in a traditional Japanese restaurant. The fried tofu is refreshing, but with a generous amount of sweet broth, it's juicy. I don't dislike the cheap fried tofu with a strong sweet taste sold in supermarkets, but the fried tofu here tastes like a feast. The green onions are probably Kujo green onions, the flavor is also good. It's a delicious dish that warms your tipsy body and warms your soul. Yummy! <≧▽≦>

I visited on a Monday night! I took off my shoes and entered. The interior is spacious. The seats are about half full, making it easy to get in. A friendly waitress? energetically served us. I chose the recommended kitsune udon. It was the gentle and delicious udon I was looking for! Thank you for the meal!

I had the chilled kitsune udon as a standalone dish (I think it was 740 yen). The sweet broth soaked into the fried tofu perfectly, it was delicious. The udon noodles had a firm texture and were very chewy. The broth soy sauce was not too salty, and I wanted to drink it all up. The small lemon served on the side helped balance out the sweetness of the fried tofu. I couldn't order the daily mini rice bowl as I was still recovering a bit, but on that day it was pork bowl. For only around 180 yen more, you can enjoy this mini rice bowl, which I think is a great deal. I went on a Saturday at 11:30 am and was able to get a seat right away, but there was a line forming quickly. I will definitely go back!

I visited this restaurant for lunch on my mother-in-law's way back from her hospital appointment. The place was quite crowded, likely because the owner trained at Dotombori Imai. I ordered the classic summer dish, cold kitsune udon, and it was delicious. The noodles were firm and cooked perfectly, and the seasoned aburaage was exceptional. I've never been to Imai, but I'm sure they serve such delicious aburaage there. I plan to revisit when it gets a little colder to try their warm dashi kitsune udon.

I recently couldn't find delicious udon, so I decided to visit Momiji-an, which I had been curious about. I ordered the tempura bukkake udon. The udon had a firm texture and I was very satisfied to finally find delicious udon after a long time. I definitely want to come back again. Thank you for the meal.

Visited with 5 people on Saturday afternoon. We arrived before 12 o'clock and were able to enter without waiting. The menu was very extensive. I ordered the plum bukkake hot udon. The flavor was rich and the udon noodles had a nice texture, I was very satisfied. You can also add rice if you like. A udon shop where you can relax, I will visit again.

Located a short walk from the Midosuji Line's Esaka Station, is Momiji-an. It was a surprisingly hot day for May, but I was determined to have some cold udon, so I decided to visit Momiji-an in Esaka. The interior of the restaurant was calm and peaceful, with customers required to remove their shoes before entering and seating available only at tables. Despite being crowded during lunchtime with groups of salarymen, the atmosphere remained organized and not chaotic. I couldn't help but wonder if udon restaurants that are spacious yet not very efficient in turnover are profitable. On the other hand, I also felt sorry for the customers because the cost performance is incredibly good. This seems to be a common type of restaurant in Osaka. I ordered the Cold Kitsune Udon (850 yen) and the daily special Mini Donburi (180 yen). The Cold Kitsune Udon came with four large pieces of fried tofu and was served in a style similar to bukkake udon. The udon itself was hand-made and had a firm texture reminiscent of Sanuki udon, with a strong chewiness. The sweet kitsune and the sweet soy sauce broth typical of Osaka complemented the udon perfectly. Although the portion of udon seemed small if not ordered as a large size, the Mini Donburi made up for it. The meal also came with a side dish and pickles, making it a satisfying lunch of udon.

Popular udon restaurants often have shared seating during lunchtime. The udon noodles have a nice firm texture and are very smooth and shiny, but the plastic chopsticks can be a bit slippery. They don't provide disposable chopsticks, probably for eco-friendly and cost-saving reasons. The taste is very satisfying! For lunch, I always go for the same option - adding a salmon rice ball for a good deal. They also have small daily rice bowl specials available.

On a certain day in April 2023, I went to have lunch. I ordered the Kitsune and daily bowl set for 990 yen. The daily bowl for that day was Gyudon (beef bowl). The Kitsune Udon had a rich broth with plenty of umami from kombu and bonito flakes. It was on the sweeter side, typical of Kansai-style broth! The noodles were thin but had a great chewy texture, perfect with the rich broth. The thick fried tofu absorbed the broth, making it sweet and juicy! The Gyudon was quite saucy, a bit lighter compared to other beef bowls. It was topped with pickled ginger, and besides the beef, it had plenty of onions and diced fried tofu, making it full of flavor. There were also side dishes and pickles, making the menu well-rounded. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I keep coming back to this restaurant. Even though I don't usually choose kitsune udon, I am drawn to it here. And the absolute must-try is the kitsuan udon. It is udon with kitsune topping. Eating this makes me happy. It is recommended not only in the cold winter but also in the summer when it gets cold from the air conditioning. No matter how many times I go, this is the only choice. The lunch set is also recommended. You take off your shoes when you enter the restaurant.

I went to have lunch on a certain day in February 2023. I visited Momiji-an, a restaurant with a flooring style where you take off your shoes before entering. The clean and spacious interior with only tables gives a sense of cleanliness and provides ample space for each person. I had the Kitsune Udon for 810 yen. The owner of the restaurant trained at a famous place known for Kitsune Udon, so it is listed as the main menu item at the top of the menu. The broth made with kombu, mackerel flakes, and urume flakes is sweet with a subtle fish flavor, offering an elegant taste. The noodles are wide and flat, with a slightly firm texture and a bit chewy, characteristic of udon with low water content. The fried tofu pieces, though small, are thick and juicy, soaked in the light broth with plenty of green onions. Thank you for the meal.

Fox udon and mini shirasu-don for ¥990. There is a parking lot in front of the store. It was quite delicious. The broth, fox, and shirasu-don portions, as well as the customer service, were all just right. I even finished all the broth. If I had to say, it was so delicious that I want to eat another bowl of fox udon. In my own fox udon ranking, it's the top one so far. I will definitely go back again.

Two days before my stomach and colon endoscopy, I carefully considered what to eat and what not to eat. I decided to order "kitsune udon and salmon rice ball" last night. There was a slight price increase. I usually prefer cold udon, with the exception of curry udon for hot udon. I don't really understand the deliciousness of hot udon broth. The shop owner trained at Dotonbori Imai and then opened his own shop, so I'm sure this will be delicious. The large pieces of fried tofu were sweet and delicious. The broth was gentle. I left the green onions neatly avoided. The udon was soft. It was difficult to eat because the chopsticks were slippery. The salmon rice ball was the type mixed with flakes, but it seemed freshly made. It was warm and delicious. I feel like I shouldn't eat the seaweed. I left the pickles. A small dish was also included. I was scared to eat it because I wasn't sure if it was okay, so I left it. I'm sorry. The thin fried tofu was not on the list, but since it's soy-based, I thought it would be okay. I made my own decision and enjoyed both pieces. It cost 960 yen. Thank you for the meal.

On a cold day, I ordered a comforting warm udon with a reduced portion. I also got a daily special mini rice bowl on the side. Both were delicious. I chose the duck meat udon, which had a good broth and the duck meat was not too tough.

On the second day of my business trip in Osaka, I visited Momiji An for lunch. I ordered the daily udon set, which comes with a choice of udon and a mini rice bowl. I chose the mini beef tendon udon, which was served with tempura, pickles, and a side dish. The udon had a flavorful Kansai-style broth, chewy noodles, and tender beef tendon, making it very delicious. I'm not a fan of waiting in line, but this renowned restaurant had a great atmosphere.

I went before 1 pm on Saturday and had to wait a bit, but was seated at a shared table fairly quickly. They served cold tea in a hot teacup, which was a bit off-putting. I ordered the fox and lunch set with a shirasu-don, which was indeed delicious. However, I made a mistake by adding shichimi spice to my udon right after taking a few sips.

I visited this popular Osaka udon restaurant for lunch on my day off. As soon as it opened, I entered the restaurant where you have to take off your shoes. I ordered the kitsune udon and mini rice bowl set. Today's rice bowl options were pork bowl and octopus bowl, and I chose the pork bowl. The udon broth had a strong bonito flavor, which is characteristic of Kansai udon. The noodles were slightly flat with a good texture. On top of the udon were two large and thick pieces of fried tofu, which were fluffy and sweet. The pork bowl was also delicious. It was a very satisfying lunch. Thank you for the meal.

Momiji An's Cold Kitsune Udon (tax included 820 yen) - The fried tofu is sweet and delicious! The soy sauce-based soup is cold and refreshing. The noodles are thick and chewy, also delicious! By the way, the warm kitsune soup has a rich and gentle flavor, also delicious!

Cold kitsune udon with a daily mini rice bowl set. On this day, it was gyudon. I asked for the udon and rice to be served in smaller portions. The cold kitsune udon was not what I expected. I was hoping for a cold version of kitsune udon, but what I got was more like a bukkake style dish with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. The broth was surprisingly sweet. The gyudon was also quite sweet. Even the side dish of dried daikon radish was sweet with sesame seeds on top. I made a wrong choice. The tempura udon served separately looked delicious and cost 1100 yen, so I feel like the 920 yen I paid for this set was a bit expensive. Thank you for the meal.

The desired shop (Issou) was unexpectedly closed, so I parked my car in the parking lot and headed to another restaurant. I arrived at 11:45 and managed to get a seat just in time before it got crowded. I ordered the following items: - Tempura udon (¥1100) with salmon rice ball (¥150) - Kitsune udon (¥770) with mini beef bowl (¥180) Total: ¥2200 The mini beef bowl was the special of the day. The kitsune udon arrived in about 6 minutes, while the tempura udon took a bit longer, but was worth the wait. The udon noodles were shiny and had a great texture, and the broth was flavorful. The kitsune udon had a rich and slightly sweet broth, and the fried tofu was also delicious. The tempura included big and tasty shrimp among other vegetables. Overall, the meal was satisfying, but I regretted not ordering a larger portion of udon as I was still hungry. I quickly paid the bill and left to have a snack. It was a tasty meal, thank you!

I visited this restaurant located about a 5-minute walk from Esaka Station on the Midosuji Line right after it opened on Saturday. There is a parking lot in front of the store where you can park three cars, which is convenient. I took off my shoes at the entrance because it is a tatami area, and I was seated by the window. I ordered the Bukkake Udon (791 yen excluding tax) and the daily special mini rice bowl (+164 yen). The place doesn't feel like a typical udon shop, it has a classy atmosphere. The calm interior is decorated with autographs of celebrities. Families, couples, and solo diners were there, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The restroom was also very clean, with a nice sink! The food arrived shortly after ordering. The Bukkake Udon came with bonito flakes, seaweed, tempura bits, egg, ginger, and green onions. The udon noodles were just right, not too thick or thin, with a good texture. The broth was flavorful and refreshing, disappearing in no time. Maybe the portion was a bit small? I think I could have gone for a large serving. The pork bowl had pickled ginger on top and had a gentle taste with a flavorful broth. Many reviews mention the Kitsune Udon, so I would like to come back to try it. Thank you for the meal!
