JR Tokaido Main Line, 3 minutes walk from Osaka Station. This izakaya is located in "NOMOKA" in Whity Umeda. Originally a popular standing bar in Higobashi, it moved to Umeda without losing its popularity, with lines forming daily. Due to the pandemic, alcohol restrictions and risks led to a long period of complete closure, but they have finally reopened. This place embodies the essence of an izakaya: cheap, delicious, and fast. Upon arrival, the restaurant was already full, so we had to wait outside for a bit before entering. In the past, waiting in line for a long time was normal, so the wait didn't bother us. Inside, there was a lively atmosphere and energetic voices coming from the kitchen. The staff provided polite service, creating a pleasant drinking experience. Since it had been a while since our last visit, we ended up ordering quite a variety of dishes. - Live shrimp: one of the signature dishes, available as sashimi or salt-grilled. The freshness was evident in the firm and sweet texture. Some may be put off by the fact that it's still moving, but it was delicious. - Chicken liver sashimi: simply seasoned with sesame and sesame oil. The silky liver had a creamy texture, perfect with drinks. - Fish namero: finely chopped fish with just the right stickiness. The miso didn't overpower the fish, and eating it with wasabi added a spicy kick. The finely chopped green onions were a nice touch. - Vinegared eel and cucumber: the eel was fatty and melted in the mouth, while the cucumber, despite its appearance, was finely cut and dissolved easily when chewed. The lemon accompaniment was a nice touch. - Chicken curry risotto with omelette: another signature dish, available with various toppings. We chose the omelette, which was perfectly cooked and creamy. The curry was spicy and flavorful, making it a standout dish. We also had a variety of drinks: - Kurara sake: a fruity aroma with a refreshing taste and acidity. Easy to drink, so we ended up having a second glass. - Zaka ginjo sake: initially smooth with a spicy finish, perfect for pairing with snacks. - Kikuhime nigori sake: slightly unique sweetness with a gentle mouthfeel, great for a lighter drink. All of this for only 5,000 yen with change back, showcasing excellent value for money. We will continue to visit this place in the future.
